  1. Not to preach, but you would probably be better off staying away from fast food all together. Yes, your taste in food does change and perhaps that is a good thing for most of us. I am a year and a half out and some things that I used to enjoy taste and smell terrible. There are times when I have to go to fast food because of well....life. I do try to make good choices. At McDonald's, I would choose a side salad and a fruit parfait. Good luck!

Okay, so I was away from home, I'm on the soft food stage, an we hit a McDonald's ! I got chicken nuggets and fries! I eat the nuggets and they were the worst thing I ever ate! Barely got thru 2, and I was done! French fries tasted like salted dust! Is this forever! Lol! Every thing is tasting weird, but not so bad! It's more of an after taste with most thing! However the nuggets and fries were instant! Puke in my mouth! Nuggets were my fave , now they taste like a bat cave!!!!!

  2. I was 252 when I started. I had surgery on June 11th, so I am almost 5 months and am now 182,down 70 pounds. I had a stall last week and finally broke through it. I am guilty, guilty, guilty of not eating enough Protein or Water. I am not hungry or thirsty and I am so busy that I forget. We also were without power for almost a week due to Hurricane Sandy and I was not making the best choices for food when I did eat!

  4. Congratulations! I am just like you. I have never been sick or had any complications. I was sleeved on June 11th and am down from a size 24 bottom to a 16 and from a 2X/3X top to an XL. A total of 60 pounds on my 5'2 frame. I feel great and I look so much better. I didn't do it for what other people thought of me, but I get compliments everyday!! Keep up the good work!

  5. popcorn is and has always been my favorite snack. I started eating it when I was 2 month post-op. I do pop my own in my popcorn machine. I use a tablespoon of oil and 1/3 cup kernels. I do lightly salt. I don't feel bad using a little salt because I do not have high blood pressure and I rarely use salt on anything. I use it very sparingly when I cook. I have been making the popcorn once a week.

  6. Disliking every Protein Drink I have tried thus far and tried to convince myself that I really liked the muscle milk light...I gave in and ordered the unflavored Unjury that everyone talks about on this site. I don't care for cold Water, so I usually drink it room temperature. The first time I tried the unjury, I put it in a cup with a packet of crystal light fruit punch. I tasted it and didn't like it at all. I made my husband taste it because I feel like I am being the biggest baby when it comes to the Protein Drinks. He thought it was gross too. Everyone claims that you can't taste it, which I found to be untrue. It completely changes the consistancy of your beverage and it definitely has a funky taste to it. I was so upset. More money wasted on a Protein drink I am not going to use. Then...I decided to try it with cold water. So much better!!! I think I can do this! You taste it less in cold water and the consistancy wasn't as thick as when I had it in the room temperature water. I have trouble with the muscle milk. I always had to make sure I was home when I drank it because it sent me to the bathroom. I decided to back off the muscle milk light for this reason. Not only that, the taste and the thickness was getting to me. Then I found a chocolate milk in my local supermarket that has 20 grams of protein per serving. I was loving it. I don't know what was wrong with me, but I never checked the sugar levels on it! It was something like 42 grams of sugar per serving!!! That explains why I liked it so much. They even had a notation on the bottle trying to justify the sugar levels by saying milk naturally has sugar in it. I won't be drinking this anymore. I try not to be a Debbie Downer, but I really think I just don't like protein. I was not much of a meat eater before my surgery 3 1/2 months ago. I force myself to eat the meat and then my veggies at meal time and am proud of myself for the amount of meat I have added to my diet. It is all worth it because I feel great and look a heck of a lot better. I just wish there truly was a protein drink that had few calories, no sugar and tastes fantastic. I am sold on the unjury now :) I had it again this morning with cold water and felt my confidence rise. I am going to put myself on automatic delivery now with the company. Has anyone tried the unjury chocolate flavor?

  7. I went on a cruise August 2nd-10th. My surgery was on June 11th. I was completely fine. I chose oatmeal or eggs at Breakfast. I ate fresh fruit at every meal. I made sure that I ate meat at lunch and dinner. I still was only eating a few fork fulls of meat before I got full, so I relied on my Protein Drinks. There was a little refrigerator in my room, which was perfect for me. I always made sure that I had my Protein drinks for the day waiting for me. I never was hungry. I was the only one that came home losing weight. Have fun on your cruise!

  8. Thanks. I seem to be eating a lot of the same foods as some of you, but in such small quantities that I don't get enough Protein from them to hit my goal. I literally get full just after a few bites at a meal. I am only 3 months out, so I am sure I will be able to eat more at one sitting as time goes on. I start my day with all of my meds. Then I have a 20 gram Protein Shake for breakfast before work. For lunch, I typically have a yogurt that has 5 Proteins (I cannot stand greek yogurt), a light cheese stick with 7 proteins, a 100 calorie pack of almonds with 4 proteins. For dinner, I typically eat 1-2 ounces of meat and a few bites of vegetables. That's my day. I usually will add another protein drink after dinner to get my numbers higher. I want to be able to eat more food, but my sleeve hurts if I try to eat more. Time...

  9. I am wondering how Spatters3 has never had to drink another Protein Shake again. Share your secret with me! I hate the Protein Shakes, but suck it up because I chose to have the surgery and knew that Protein shakes were part of the deal for the rest of my life probably :( I am 3 months post op and still not able to eat nearly enough protein in a day to satisfy the 50-70 grams my Doctor wants me to have. I found a protein enriched chocolate milk I absolutely love that has 20 grams of protein in each bottle. Then...after I bought 25 of them, I looked at the sugar content which I completely forgot to do. It has 44 grams of sugar per single serve bottle, no wonder I love it. I am sick, sick, sick of the Muscle Milk light, which is the only Protein Drink I was able to choke down. Please share with me what you eat in a day to get all of the necessary Proteins in. I would love to never rely on shakes again!

  10. I was exhausted for the first month after surgery. I couldn't get enough sleep. I posted a question on here to see if that was normal. I was assured that it was and told to increase my Protein. It definitely helped. I am the type of person that never sits down to relax. I decided that this was my time for me. If I felt tired, I went and took a nap or went to bed early. It soon passed.

  11. Karen,

I thought the sleeve was only approved by the FDA here in the US about two years ago, so I don't think you will find anyone that has done it as far back as you are looking for. My support group disussed this and said there are just unknowns for now. I was given an option when I signed into surgery to have my progress followed to help with studies. I think I would be nervous if I didn't have my children already because of the unknowns.
