    Fuzzy Tongue

I was told it is a side effect of ketosis. Mine started at about 2 weeks and even at 3.5 months still have it every morning. When your body is in ketosis you are burning fat so it is gross but a good thing.

    Gaining Weight Unbelievable!

@Amazon13....Thank you so much for the congrats. Yes, the TOM thing can throw you for a curve. Also, my 2nd month I didn't even have one which is very common due to all of the changes going on in your body. You will level out - just realize that this is a marathon we are all on and not a sprint. You too will achieve your goals!!!

    **help**

It is a hard thing to master - I'm 3 months out and find it does get easier the further out you go. Just hard to break an habit for the past 30+ years! I too tried to practice this pre-surgery and found it very difficult. In my case, if I drink too soon after eating it makes me uncomfortable and sometimes can make me throw-up. Trust me that feeling broke me quickly of this habit. Just keep at it and it will be much easier post surgery (at least it was for me). As for the big drinks - pre-surgery I was always drinking large quantities and quickly. Post surgery I feel I really have to focus on getting in the liquids as I am not hungry and usually not thirsty. It will feel like a full time job to get all of the Vitamins, Protein, liquids, exercise, etc in in a 24 hour period immediately post-surgery. I think that the further out I am and the further away from some of my old bad habits it is getting easier to have my new habits take over. I feel like this surgery has made me feel 20 years younger - so much more energy and drive to have new adventures. I tell my doctor all the time - "Who knew you didn't need that extra 85% of your stomach and can live off of 800 calories a day!"

    Gaining Weight Unbelievable!

I agree - your body goes into a shut down mode as it is dealing with the new changes from surgery. Just keep following your plan and try not to stress out. I know it is hard but try to look at the long road ahead and how great you will feel as the weight comes off. I think we all hear stories about people just having the weight fall off but that wasn't the case for me. I think I am a consistent loser....not too fast and not too slow. Sometimes I will drop 2-3# and then bounce up for a bit but it always comes off with extra. In the past 3 months since surgery, I have lost almost 42# which just blows my mind. You are doing GREAT!!! Just get lots of rest, drink your fluids and get your Protein in with a little bit of increasing exercise and before you know it all of those pounds will add up to big numbers.
  9. 9/29 UPDATE Weight before surgery: 267.6 Date of surgery: July 17th, 2012 Current weight: 229.6 ** Only 9.6 to go!!!!! ** Goal weight for competition: 220 # I can't believe I am less than 10# to my goal!!! So proud of myself!!!
  10. My dr and NUT said 2-4 pounds a week is what to look for...so 8-16 pounds a month. I think it will vary but I'm 11 weeks tomorrow and have lost 10# already in the past 3 weeks....about 40# since surgery...so average of 3.5# a week. I completely understand wanting to know how much loss to expect. I'm am all about tracking & predicting my loss (even though I don't have total control). This surgery is an amazing tool and so glad I did it!!!

    Weight Gain And Stall.

I am a little over 10 weeks and it is common to fluctuate. Look at the overall pattern of your loss. I totally agree about the loss and then stall as your body readjusts itself. I know it is a very frustrating process!! I think many of us read about how some can seem to just have their weight fall off. I was not one of those. I usually lose consistently for a period of time and then gain a little or hover around a certain weight for awhile and then start dropping again and then repeat the cycle. I actually use my Wii fit daily to track my weight and BMI. It is great because you can see your individual pattern of weightloss. This helps me focus on the long term and not stress so much about the quickness of the loss. Before you know it the numbers will start to drop again, I promise!! Just stay focused on the end goal of your journey and don't be so hard on yourself. We all had to retrain ourselves for our new lives!!! You will succeed!!
  12. I agree....the first 6 weeks post-op I had a couple of episodes of wooziness when standing for long times in the heat at my son's soccer games. Your body is an amazing thing and will adjust well as long as you follow your guidelines. Get lots of fluids & Protein, rest and try not to compare yourself to others. Each of us is different and even though we are all on the same journey we will move along that path at different paces. Be proud of yourself for make the decision to be healthier and everything else will follow. Best of luck on your surgery and recovery!!!

    Super Yummy Fast Breakfast

That sounds good - I used to make them pre-surgery but made my eggs like an omelet to put on the muffin. What is your daily carb count that you can have? I am allowed about 40g a day at 10weeks. Thanks

    Slim Fast For Protein Drinks?

My NUT says the carbs are too much for Slimfast. She has me follow the 5g rule...no more than 5g of carbs for a protein shake. The premier protein has 30g of protein and 5g of carbs for 11oz. I actually prefer it to the slimfast shakes I have had in the past and it keeps you full longer.

    Not Desired Results

I agree with everyone else. I am 9weeks and I consume 60-90g of protein a day, under 40g of Carbs and aim for the 64 oz of liquid. I have to consume 2 Premier protein shakes to meet my min protein for the day plus it counts as 22oz of liquid toward your 64oz for the day. I don't see a ticker so not sure how much you had to lose but the less your start weight you might not be seeing huge numbers out of the gate but it all adds up. My Dr says anywhere from 2-4 pounds a week is on target and you fall right in the middle of that. Try changing up your food and increase your water. Do they have you taking your vitamins and supplements? Don't be so hard on yourself - as many say on this site it is a marathon not a sprint!!!
  16. Good luck and a speedy recovery!!

    Upset Stomach :(

Not to be too TMI but do you think you might be constipated. Sometimes, you can get that feeling when you are backed up!! I still can get nauseous if my Vitamins don't sit well or new foods (but you said that isn't the case for you this time).

    Helppp

The scale is a funny thing. I think for the majority of us we don't lose weight EVERYTIME we step on the scale...your body fluctuates a lot during the day. See the link below for a great explanation of how stalls and weight loss work. http://www.dsfacts.c...or-plateau.html I personally feel that we lose and then bounce a little (water weight) and then drop and back and forth. I use the Wii Fit Plus program to track my weight. It graphs it out and a pattern emerges with decrease, slight increase, hover a little and then a good size decrease and so on. Before WLS, I would have freaked out to see the scale go up but now I know it is part of the process and a little give and take is alright. Overall, if you follow your plan you WILL lose. I actually like the slower rate so my body can adjust and I can keep up with toning what is left . It is strange how my feelings have changed so drastically about the drive to lose weight...by taking a more relaxed and stress free approach I think it has helped me enormously on this long marathon of a journey! I have lost almost 32# in 9 weeks which I think is GREAT!! Especially since I don't have to see that 32# again!!! This whole process is like starting all over and learning to eat again from scratch. Good luck and just stay focused on the final prize.
  19. At the beginning it used to take me 90 minutes to drink a premade shake. I can now drink a whole one in about 15-20min at 9 weeks out. It may not seem like it now but the time will fly by...the first 2-3 weeks are the hardest...just focus on your liquids and the Protein will come as you get further along. Good luck with your new life!!
  20. 9/15 UPDATE Weight before surgery: 267.6 Date of surgery: July 17th, 2012 Current weight: 232.6 ** Only 12.4 to go!!!!! ** Goal weight for competition: 220
  21. Just for your reference a cc is the same as a ml so 1 cc = 1 ml. The insert with the B-12 vial and on the prescription bottle will have your dosage. If you are uncertain, call your doctor or pharmacist to verify. I know what my dosage is but don't know if every doc prescribes the same amount.
  22. UPDATE Weight before surgery: 267.6 Date of surgery: July 17th, 2012 Current weight: 238.5* ** Just coming off of a stall...lost 4#..only 18.5 to go. Will see where I am end of September to see if I need to adjust my goal (how I don't). Goal weight for competition: 220

Anyone With Bcbs Federal? Sleeve Covered?

I have BCBS Federal and mine was completely covered. I would either have a meeting with your coordinator or switch Drs. I wouldn't let the dr force you into a surgery you don't want.
  24. soccermomx2

    Intubation

No, I was under when they put mine in and took it out. I think they would have a very hard time doing that while you are awake.

    B12 Injections

B12 is a manadatory part of my vitamin list for life. I choose to do the injections once a month which is easier to remember that another pill.
