Hi Everyone!
I joined the VST site not very long ago and I didnt give myself much on an intro, partly because of not wanting to open up to people I don't know. After being somewhat of a voyeur (ha) and looking other profiles I realized that people share with others that have a lot in common with the surgery and other issues without judging or being judged. Please allow me to re-introduce myself, so here goes.

I am a PROUD 41 yr old mother of 1 grown son and a wife. I have been in the skin Im in most of my life and I have always been ok with who I am because I love me some me. When I was told that I was border line diabetic over town years ago I thought, no problem I'll take a few pills eat differently and it will all go away. NOOOOOT! Well, I do eat differently. I don't, eat beef, pork or chicken. I eat turkey products, tofu and I LOOOOOOVEFISH. I love most veggies but rice is my favorite thisng to eat besides fish, which is a problem. I roller skate and I take the stairs as often as I can and still I lose a pound or to here & there. I'm past the pill stage and I take 2 types of insulin twice daily. This means finding having to find the time to stick myself 4 times a day along with sticking my fingers UUUUUGGGHHHH! Quite frankly Im sick of it!! For the first time in my life Im I wanna let go of the fat suit especially since its part of the reason why I need insulin. The other part is that diabetes is in my family. So, I'm not evn sure if the sleeve will help but it sure is worth the effort. I considered the band and even gastric bypass. Thanks to an information session I went to about a year agoI learned about the sleeve. OMG!! It fit me perfectly. The band seemed like it woudl be too much to do to maintiain with little weightloss. The bypass seemed like TOOOO much weight loss for my short 5'4 frame. I still have yet to have my first appt with a surgeon because the surgeon that was chosen for me rescheduled my appt twice. I decide it was time to request a new surgeon so I did. Im still waiting for my first date. I say all this to say that I'm glad that ther are others on here that share the same issues and I look forward to chats, messages, comments and emails from new friends. I will try as best I can to keep up with updates to my profile so that others can follow my journey to NEWLIFE
