I Wish I Could See The Difference!
missmachine posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have lost 43 lbs, from 250-207, which is awesome, but I really can't see a difference and I am still wearing all the same clothes (albeit, with a belt). Its just really discouraging to have done so much work and still be a big fat person. No one has noticed or said anything. Although, i think if they did i would be embarrassed. The few people I have told that I lost 40 lbs, they give me a look like I am lying and they size me up and down. I have still so far to go, I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I just have a hard time believing I will ever get there... Like, I'll just stop losing at some point, or the surgery won't work anymore, etc. I dream about having confidence and self-esteem again, but in my head, there's no way it could ever happen for me. The other thing is, I know that even if I lose weight, my body is still gonna look like ****, and I'm still going to hate myself. I don't have any money for plastics. I want to be beautiful. I want a taste of what that feels like. I'm sorry to be a downer today. -
I Wish I Could See The Difference!

You guys were right... I went to Target today and bought some new jeans, two sizes smaller than I was pre surgery. I could definitely see a difference when I was wearing them, and it cheered me up a little. It's crazy how wearing the same clothes will keep you from seeing the changes! I didn't want to buy any new stuff until absolutely necessary, because I really don't have much money. That was great though -

Too Little Calories? Anyone Lose Weight With 1000?
missmachine replied to mesaucedo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I read this all the time but I have never had that problem and I have never been able to get away with eating only 500 cals a day. This kind of worries me. As soon as I started on solids (about 3 wks out) I found it impossible not to get in at least 1000 cals a day. I am 2 months out now. I can eat about 4 oz of meat in one sitting. I usually eat chicken, cheese, deli meat, carrots and yogurt ranch, flatbread pizza, salad, etc. I pretty much eat whatever I want, but just smaller "normal" portions. I do eat something every few hours, though because I get hungry. The calories add up fast if you account for everything, which I do. That means if you used olive oil to sauté your chicken you count those calories, etc. Hearing how everyone can only eat 400-800 calories a day makes me feel like there is something wrong with my sleeve or I stretched it out. Idk. Is anyone else similar?? At least I am losing though...40 lbs in 2 months - not too shabby. -

I usually eat about 1000-1100 cals a day. 2 months out and losing steadily. -
Never had one before. Sorry if this is TMI but it won't go away. Any advice/recommended products? I heard that if you ice it, it will shrink, but it didn't work for me. It's hard, painful, and really uncomfortable! I need to poop but I'm afraid to! I don't think I'm going to eat anymore until this goes away and I can poop! This is so embarrassing!

I Have A Hemorrhoid!
missmachine replied to missmachine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone. I know I haven't been eating much grain/fiber trying to stay away from carbs. I need to probably up my water intake too. I read to use vitaman E oil, and I also bought some Tucks stuff. Hopefully I will have some relief soon. -

Tried the Preperation H Cooling Gel the past couple days, doesn't seem to help at all. I don't have a Dr (had surgery in MX). -

I never took before pics for this reason. I'm 2 months out and just starting to feel slightly ok with getting my pic taken. -
How To Gain Weight Post-Op
missmachine replied to flipdmx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, what a great "problem" to have! Well, better than the opposite anyway. My mom had the RnY and lost too much weight. The Dr told her to start drinking soda all day to help stretch out her new stomach. She has to drink one and then wait until she feels like she can eat again. She was told to drink regular soda until she gained the amount of weight she needed, and then switched to diet soda. She still has to drink it everyday to keep it stretched, but it helps. -
I would really like to know if this is true or not.

1St Meal In Restaurant
missmachine replied to paulsgirl1297's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had plenty of dinner dates with friends and people who don't know about my surgery. Honestly, people are not paying attention to how you are eating; they are concerned with what they are eating. Just pick at your food, eat slow, and get a to go box. It's very common to take food home with you that you don't finish. If someone happens to mention it or ask you why you haven't eaten much, it's ok to tell them that you are dieting. If you're not comfortable with that, tell them that you have a stomach ache. You could also try blocking the view of your plate by placing the bread basket in front of it or something. But, as I said, I have noticed that people aren't really paying attention at all. -
Being under 200 lbs! Weighed in at 209.6 today, and when I started I was at 250. I am 8 weeks out. The 100's are so close I can feel it happening soon, hopefully in a few weeks! I haven't been under 200 in 4 years.

My Scale Lies I Know It!
missmachine replied to SpaceyCasey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same issue with my digital scale so I just bought a new one off amazon for $56. It's called "eat smart" I believe, and it also measures your body fat, water, muscle, and bone density. Ironically it does the same thing as my other one and I get a different answer every time. -

June Sleevers! Hows It Going?
missmachine replied to petite-size-me!'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Update on me... Was sleeved June 11th, and down 36 lbs total (6 pre-op). Wish I was going a little faster but hoping to get into the 100's in a month if I work hard. -
Just FYI, I made this stuff, and although it was delicious it made me sick. It's really heavy and it's a lot of cheese. I threw up after eating it.

Where are my Flirty Thirties?
missmachine replied to travelchick's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I guess I am stuck in the 90s (I'm 31 - class of 99). I still wear the colorful hair and the combat boots and the nirvana t shirts and etc! ) -
Well, I've since been wrapping up my ankles but they still hurt really bad when using my gazelle. It makes it incredibly uncomfortable to use. I don't know what to do.

Used to own one of these many years ago and lost 40 lbs using it everyday when I wasn't even that big at the time. Since now I've had surgery, I really wanted to get one again and was so excited to start using it today; however, I could only last about 25 minutes because of the pain it was causing me to have in my ankles and the burning sensation on the bottoms of my feet. I'm not sure if this is because I am heavier now but I don't really remember this being a huge problem before. Does anyone else use the gazelle and/or have any advice for pain? I was thinking of getting some ace bandage and using it to help support my ankles, do you think that would work? I think I read wearing slippers while doing it helps with the foot burning too? I'm really disappointed because I wanted to start using it.
