    All The Single Ladies...

October/ November 2012 was a dating whirlwind for me. All online. I had a chemistry.com subscription, okcupid, even had an ad on Craigslist. Met a guy on Craigslist late November, we've been dating ever since. I told him about the surgery in January by which time he'd already guessed. I don't think I have body image issues- pretty happy with my nekkid self (apart from a few specific positions). Going out to eat was weird for the first few times, but I warned him up front that I don't eat a lot.

How do I tell him or should I bother?

Thought I'd give an update. I told him last night about the weight loss and he'd already starting adding up the facts on his own-the half of a stomach, the tiny meals-so it wasn't a surprise. He was impressed when I told him how much-126-127. I did earn myself a little spanking because my deep, dark secret wasn't.
  3. I'm having almost exactly the same problem. The holidays were filled with bad food and not filled with exercise, so I even gained a bit. I was going to try the No sugar January and lasted a day before my period came and I wanted to eat everything and bought more bad foods. When my period is over, any remaining bad food will go in the garbage and right out to the dumpster! I do better when my home is a safe zone with no bad foods. Bad foods at work can also be a problem, so ill be avoiding the staff room any time they're around.

    Any good puree ideas?

I liked the following: canned chicken puréed with seedless mustard, canned tuna puréed with Trader Joes Red Thai Curry Sauce, and Hormel's chili (the kind with no beans) puréed on its own. If you ever need a break from pureeing, I recommend Beechnut baby food over Gerber. Beechnut uses broth and no water, so I think it tastes a little better.

How do I tell him or should I bother?

Thank you gentlemen and lady! My guy is going to meet my friends this weekend for a hockey game. Ill see what they say about him and ask them if they think he's ready to hear it. On the other hand, I might as well tell him sooner rather than later. I would hate to get attached to find out he can't deal.
  6. I'm 6 months post op, 15 pounds from my ultimate goal, met a guy last month and we've been seeing each other pretty regularly. He knows I had surgery, knows I only have part of a stomach, and has seen how little I eat- he seems to be ok with it. He doesn't know what kind or surgery I had, or that I had it to lose weight. He doesn't know that I used to 260 pounds. But now I want to be Facebook friends with him. Most of my pics are the old me so as soon as I FB him, he's going to find out. Should I tell him about the surgery, wait to FB him until later, or just go ahead and not say anything?

    No alcohol ever?

We've been told that if we drink alcohol, it's not an issue of if we have complications, but when. My NUT and case manager worry about gastritis and ulcers, along with transfer of addiction. That being said, not quite 6 months post op and I've enjoyed an occasional glass off wine or beer. No upset tummy yet.

    Female Issues

I read somewhere that it might have had to do with the blood thinners they give you in the hospital. Might.

    Female Issues

I spotted heavily for the first 3-4 months after surgery. I'm just lately starting to get back to normal.
  10. The pjs are from Target. I went and got myself a leopard print set in a medium. They're long on the leg, but not much room left in the belly.
  11. We're only about 7 pounds apart now. She requested these shark footie pajamas for Christmas, so when I saw her size, I picked them up. Tried them on out of sheer curiosity. I'll be going back tomorrow to pick up a pair for me. Another friend says there's a moose pattern, which I simply must have.

    First Sickness Since Sleeve Question..

I also teach. Had a cold while on my pre op diet in April and then at the beginning of the school year in August, 2 months post op. All colds are different, so I couldn't say that one was heavier or lasted longer than the other. However, I've had a neti pot for several years and love it. It makes me feel better than any decongestant on the market. I also use Coldeeze instead of Airbourne. Clinical studies have shown that taking Coldeeze at the first onset of cold symptoms can reduce the length and severity of the cold. When I had my pre op cold, I realized one of my food triggers was feeling sorry for myself- I went to the drugstore for cough syrup and cough drops, came out with candy and snacky foods. Now I keep a "sick pack" in the cupboard so I don't have to go to the store when sick. It has many varieties of cough drops and several packages of egg drop Soup flavoring packets. I replenish supplies when I feel better.
  13. I did meat baby food during my purée stage. Gerber was yucky, I think because they use water. Beechnut was pretty good- for baby food.
  14. Wearing only my undies (because I live alone and I can) and I realize my legs feel funny. I head into the other room to look in the mirror and see that my thighs don't touch anymore! No wonder skirts and dresses have been so comfy. Bye bye chub rub!
