    Questions about my fill issues

I have the same problem. I have a very temperamental band. Even 0.2ml can be too much & have to be removed. My Dr. justt sent letter that she is CLOSING her practice so I need to find another fill Dr.

    Banded a year ago

I read your post & my eart goes out to you. I was banded in march 07 & lost most all of my weight. I don't vomit but i am very tight so many times i slime or cant eat as much. I have gained about 8 pounds back but i admit it is because i dont follow the band rules as much. I eat ice cream or cheese foods that go down easily. & sometimes a little wine. Not good. I am dedicating myself to get back to the band way of eating which is higher protein, low fat, lower carb and only smaller meals with minimal snacks. Its odd how the things that are bad for you go down much easier. I used to think that was a cop out. Anyway, just wanted to encourage you that if your band is in place, get an appropriate fill(s) and get back to basics. I have to sometimes ask myself if i am hungry or is what i feel just appetite. You can do this! You have made progress! Stay on track!

    Feeling like a failure

Dear Lora, I don't post very often on the board anymore but I saw your post and just wanted to encourage you. I was banded in March 2007 and most of my weight. I could stand to lose 10 extra pounds but have been satisfied with my progress overall. Bands can be a tricky thing and yor are relatively early in the process. Only a tiny amount in your band can make a huge difference. I have been too tight before and in fact when I get nervous or anxious about something my band tightens up like a drum. As far as you diet make sure you are eating Protein FIRST at all three meals. My weight loss was a little quirky. Sometimes I would lose a pound a week, then sometimes I wouldn't lose for three weeks then I would drop 3-4 pounds all at once. Almost like my body didn't want to let it go. I can tell you that if you keep doing the right things, it will eventually come off! During my most regular weight loss, I saw my fill Dr. monthly even if I didn't get a fill. My Dr. not only limited my portions 1/2-1cup but also limited me to 1200 calories. that doesn't sound like much but when I made the right choices, suprisingly, it was hard to eat that much! Anyway, I just wanted to encourage you that it will work. Every pound adds up no matter how slow it seems. I lost 35 pounds before a single person even noticed, or at least said they saw my weight loss. Good Luck! Kim

    Marchies In December

It has been months since I posted on the board. I felt that the new years would be a great time to sign back on to get & give some encouragement! I am 11 pounds from my goal which is great! I gained 2-3 pounds over the holidays but officially got back on track this am. I have a fill that is a little on the tight side. I also have a qwerky band that responds sensitively to fills. Being tight keeps me from eating large portions but it also keeps me eating soft foods which is not always best. I hope to get this last bit of weight off in three months. Its very hard when you get this close. Everyone keeps telling me how good I look so I have a tendency to slack off! Anyway, keep up the good work! And I will try to post more faithfully!

    2.5cc in band and TIGHT

Hi Rene, This same thing happened to me. (I did not have my last fill under flouro.) I got 0.5cc added because I was able to eat way too much & stopped losing. Well, I am a weirdo that doesn't get full restriction until almost a week later. By that time it hurt to get Water down. I was doing the slime thing almost constantly. Another 4 days went by & I called my Doc frantic and requesting an unfill. She was out of town so I had to wait 4 more days. I went for the unfill but by then it has loosened up enough to get water down. I am still very tight but my Doc convinced me not to unfill because she felt in another few weeks I would be disappointed that I did. I am still tight in mornings but can eat very slowly in the evenings. I have to be careful though because when I get tense, that band tightens right up again. My band is very finicky! Hopefully, yours will relax a little. I see my Doc monthly for checkups whether she fills or not. Good Luck!

Is this normal? Happened to anyone else??

WOW! My band does the same thing. If I get tense or nervous about something it tightens up like a drum. My last fill I was a little too tight & I had the slime thing going on for about a week. The more anxious I got about it the tighter it goot. Fortunately after a week it was a little looser. Scarey though![ quote=mare5569;618423]My band has a personality all its own. However, I have figured out that the tightness is often in proportion to how tense I have been, if I am under stress, etc. When I had a disagreement with my hubby, it was so tight Water wouldn't go down, it actually came back. Good luck

    New to the site

Hi Melissa & everyone on the Board! I haven't posted in a while. It has been so busy for me. Still doing well on my journey with the band. I finally achieved restriction with my last fill 2 months ago & have lost 37 pounds to date! YEA!!! I lose 3-4 pounds a month which may be slow in some respects but it is steady. I love my band. It is the best weight loss tool I have ever had! Melissa, if you want to PM me I will be glad to give you a call. Where are you at in Louisiana?

    Back again ....

Welcome back Irene, What major city are you closest to? Dallas? SanAntonio? I am not sure where Taylor Texas is. There are actually a number of Dr.s i Texas that take care of bandsters. They charge varying prices. Send me a PM on this site & I will try to help you out.

    Still Left Out

Reeburgdon, I am sorry you haven't gotten any responses. This is a good place to get support. Many times I don't post but do read what others have posted. I think a lot of people do that. There are some great folks on here and I'm sure you will meet some of them. Congrats on your surgery date!:clap2: I know how excited I was when I was scheduled! Good luck to you & keep me posted!

    Hi from Ireland!

Welcome aboard!!! My husband is a NEESON & they are origionally from Northern Ireland. I tell my husband all the time, If I could travel abroad, Ireland is the one place I want to go to! I want to do some more research on family history. I hope you do well with your journey! I was banded in March 07 so I am really just beginning myself. I am so glad I had this done.

    MaRcHiEs IN MaY

Late, I am right there with you. I haven't lost a pound in the past 3 weks & I am VERY HUNGRY. I could eat 1 1/2 cups where I used to eat 3/4 to 1 cup and was FULL! I can't get another fill until the 14th! Hang in there! We will get where others have successfully gone! (I feel like a Star Trek commercial!)

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

You guys have inspired me! I lost 30 pounds a couple of summers ago cycling 20 miles on weekends. Unfortunately, my bike is hanging up in the garage, gathering dust! I may just have to get off my duff & dust it off & hit the trail!
