Children's menu portions of the same crappy food is something I would be very careful about eating. None of those places are known for balanced or healthy meals.

As a single guy, to be honest I don't think I will be telling anyone I date post surgery that I've had WLS. It's not like I'm not telling them I have an std or something that is medically relevant to them.
If I had, say... Laser eye surgery 5 years before we started dating, am I required to tell the person? It doesn't affect them in any way, shape or form.
On the other hand, if they notice scars, or ask why I eat so little, then I'm not gonna lie about it either.

I agree with everything you wrote about Yoga. You won't lose weight but it really makes you feel good. I love it because all that soreness from weights, biking and running just melts away. I've seen interviews with DDP and he said that Yoga saved his body after years of wrestling. I've heard the same thing from Trish Stratus who discovered Yoga after a horrible back injury from wrestling. She retired from the ring and opened up a Yoga studio in Toronto as a new career.
Based on your posts I will have to check out the DDP program. You've been doing this for a long time and if you say it works that's enough for me to see what it's all about. Thanks

You all make me SO HAPPY!!!
thank you for taking the time to share your personal stories with me and to tell me that I CAN "tell the truth" and get away with it.
I am just SO READY for this to all be behind me and to be on the other side. Every single day I'm one step closer to being a healthier person and I CAN NOT WAIT! Daily I'm making better choices, and every time I make a good choice I get such a good feeling...it will be nice to be sleeved and have the willpower to keep on making great choices instead of what I've done my entire life, which is make good choices for a few weeks and then 'fall off the wagon'.
Thank you for the wonderful feedback!

Outside of my immediate family I didn't tell anyone. To the outside world it's just another diet like the ones I've been on for years only this time it's working. No one has questioned it these past 6 months.

It's all in your head. Ask the Dr office about support groups. Maybe go back to whoever you went to for the pysch evaluation and start getting some help. There is no physical reason for you to be eating that way so to beat it you need to attack your mental issues with food. You aren't alone and there is help out there that will allow you to beat this. Stop feeling ashamed, take control and address the real issues.

So I am "Team Low Carb". I followed 600 - 800 calories/less than 40 carbs/more than 60 prot/more than 64 oz Fluid a day. My carbs were usually under 20 and I consumed about 600 calories a day. I was never hungry because I basically at meat for every meal and snack. For me, low carb is the way to go. I had a lot of weight to lose and I wanted to take the easiest/fastest route possible. Staying "on plan" 98% of the time I reached "goal" in about 11 months. In that 11 months I lost 201 lbs and now have a bmi of 22. I think I started at 52 or 54...something crazy high. Once I reached goal... I have been adding carbs and calories back into my diet. I think, compared to most, I will always stay pretty low carb. Low carb makes me feel the best and works well with the prot first rule.

You could always crush up some ice and eat that. You need to get your Water in anyway. That way you get your mouth involved without adding calories.

3 months out, down 40lbs. One month out I started couch to 5k. Thought I was in ok shape cardio wise as of today. I did my first cross fit this evening and omg I thought I was going to puke out my lungs and my uterus! I did almost pass out after my first burpee round, saw stars and bright lights! So I put my head btw my legs, caught my breath and jumped back in. I'm going again tomorrow (my next door neighbors garage) but today really opened my eyes as to how unfit my body and heart really is. Well I knew my body is very unfit but damn this felt so good after, wobbly thighs & all!

My sister in law had gastric bypass surgery 4 years ago. She had her first child at the age of 37 6 weeks ago. Her pregnancy and delivery were absolutely normal. It would have been a lot more difficult at the 290 pounds she had been at for the previous decade. Who knows if she would have been able to even conceive at that weight? Now she is a healthy and happy mother and enjoying her new life. She got that surgery to live a life she felt she couldn't have at the weight she was and has no regrets.
Whatever you do you need to do it for yourself. Do what is right for you. There is no harm in waiting 6 months and trying to lose the weight without surgery if you feel you want to try it that way. The surgeons will still be there if it doesn't work out. If on the other hand you've been down that road before and feel that the diet alone won't work then do the surgery. Just make sure it's your decision and no one elses since you are the one who has to live with it. Good luck

I was sleeved on Oct 30th, 2012 and started out at 34.21BMI. I am now 21.95 bmi. I'm actually below the weight the doctor wanted me to be, he wanted me at 150. I did have problems though, had drug withdrawals, (stopped cold turkey on 27 pills a day), Lupus flare-up then pneumonia! I think everybody is different and everyone's
metabolic rate is different. I think it is a myth

I must admit I was never a soda drinker and my diet was not perfect but not horrible leading up to my VSG. I was not a fast food junkie. Matter of fact, the year prior to VSG I was on a supervised diet and it took me 6 months to lose 17 lbs.; that is what prompted me to have surgery. I started with a BMI of 43 and have lost 46 lbs in 6 months. It has been painfully slow and I work out at least 5 days a week. I don't know why I am such a slow loser or what it is attributed too. What I do know is that it is still easy for me to gain and hard to lose. I wish I had an answer to my dilemma. Because I often question myself. My husband agreed to the surgery because he saw how hard I was working and not losing. I have my days when I am frustrated because I see people upset they they are in a stall at month six and have dropped 80 lbs. Hell if I had dropped the wanted 10 lbs a month I would be ecstatic, but I am not even there.

Hi, I haven't had some since last June. I was addicted. My hubby works for Coke cola. I love the crush products. And I have actually found powdered crush, no sugar, no carb, like the crystal light pacs that you put in Water. I was a flavored drink women, grape, orange strawberry. I have found the crush in these flavors and it helps a lot. I have seen others that have come across them and they seem to be finding theirs at the dollar store. My local grocery store carries them, so now the coke man is picking up his wife some crush products!!! Good luck!!!
