I just wanted to stop by and say hi to everyone. I have been lurking around the site for a week or so now and I have seen and heard some wonderful things going on in this community. I have noticed a very close family - like setting of unique and diverse individuals and I love it. Everyone can have an opinion and people accept it and motivate and keep striving for what the ultimate goal is, a healthy life at a healthy weight. I am impressed and I hope I can be accepted among you to give and get experienced opinions and motivation. I love that thought "reset" I'm so ready to push that button too I'm trying not to be impatient but its hard its hard for me not to complain when I just started my journey 10May and so many others have been trying for so much longer but I still feel like pouting and saying "are we there yet(in the voice of a lil brat) oh well I have a few more hoops to jump then I'm waiting on insurance to tell me my fate

I have not been told I am diabetic or have sleep apnea but I have been on blood pressure meds for 15 yrs and have 12% function in my Left kidney and I am a cancer survivor. I am ready to hit that reset button and get back to healthy living. I was a healthy teen, I am a second degree blackbelt which I attained by the age of 16 with alot of hard work but you couldn't tell by looking at me now. I have kids I want to be here for and 2 grandkids who love their nana and would love to have her around for a long time. I have lots of reason but It never seems to be enough to keep me motivated for more than a few months at a time. I know I can do this and I have to believe this will be the tool to help me.

I'm from Lawton I was in moore yesturday for date night at the Warren dinner theatre everywhere I go I think about how things are going to have to change once I'm banded and my husband said its will be even better because we can sit close and share one meal I am such a lucky girl

Definitely not a requirement! Hi all! I've attended the seminar and will schedule my consult appt this week. I'm ready! I've been thinking about doing this for several years but never was ready to give up my lifestyle. Well, my diabetes and all the other health risks have enjoyed the ride but now I'm ready to leave them behind. An added plus is I get to get rid of this weight too! I look forward to getting to know you all and make a new world of friends!!!

Looks like you have to be twice your correct weight (if you should weight 130 pounds for your height and you way 260), and have a co mobidity like high cholesterol, blood pressure, etc.

I'm shooting to be banded in July. I have my approval from insurance, and I'm meeting with my surgeon on Monday, June 11, 2012 for final pre-op visit and to schedule. Due to scheduling conflicts at work, the earliest I can take off from work is the second week in July. So...crossing fingers that my banding will be the week of July 9-13.

I have had my band almost seven years and the only effects I have had is I lost all of my weight and then some. No problems. It has been a dream come true. You do have to make a committment to follow the rules as best as you can. It sounds like you are well disciplined so you should be very successful. It is so frustrating when you lose a lot of weight and then it comes back and more. I sure have walked in those shoes. I bet most of us on this sight have been there multiple times. Good luck.

Well I am 3 weeks post op and had my first check up yesterday and to my surprise they did a fill at same time. I was scared and anxious but she made me lie down and lift my head up, she found the port easy and it did not hurt at all. I did u tube the fill procedure before I had mine done so I knew what I was in for. They only put in 1 cc but said to come back in 2 weeks for another. Since being banded I have lost 5kg, started bikrim yoga and walking and feel awesome!!

It's July 17th at 10am I decided to have this done in January and now I finally have a date after jumping through all the hoops. Can't wait to join the bandsters!

I believe you just have to show that you have had weight issues for 5yrs you PC DR would be a good source for the requirement. Good luck

well as life goes on the lapband is one of the smallest foreign bodies u will have to put up with, even crowns on teeth are foreign bodies
replacement joints when u get older can often be needed etc etc .. its a tiny peiece of plastic its not really woirth looking at it like that .. i think i have read one person had it removed because of some bodily reaction to it, but thousands have it and no reaction at all so its not a silly question but plenty of other things to worry about in life
