Fallenangel2904 got a reaction from on the way to the new me in Had My Consult- I'm The Heaviest I've Ever Been!
Thanks for the tip! I'm gonna get up extra early that day, take a long walk and tire myself out. I too have problems sleeping in a bed that isn't mine but usually will pass out anywhere if I'm exhausted enough so I'll make sure I'm really tired. Thanks!!

Hi VSGers! First of all I've been here a little while but haven't properly introduced myself or told my story. I've been overweight my whole life, struggled with dieting. I've been over 300lbs since I was a teenager which was tough. I've looked into WLS on and off since I was a teenager but never went through with it- which I am glad for because the sleeve wasn't an option when I was looking into it and I'm sure this is the procedure for me! So I finally had my consult today- I got the appointment back in April but there was a long wait. Everything went great and things are moving along fast! I have a bunch of appointments scheduled already- Nutristionist this Friday (1 or 2 classes) Ultrasound the 25th, sleep Study (Since they thing I may have sleep apnea) next week also, and the Endoscopy July 18th. The psych and the medical consult will be sent to me, but I really feel like things are moving along FAST and I'm super thrilled! It also makes it so much easier because my best friend is going through this with me- we're going through the same facility and even have some of our appointments scheduled on the same days so we can go together!
The downer of today was getting on the scale for my stats. I haven't actually weighed myself in over a year. Last year was a hard year for me, I went through a crazy break up, emotional ate and gained weight, then took it off then I injured my knee and was immobile for months. In that time I was super depressed and knew I gained weight, I just never knew how much. I thought I had taken some of it off by now, and maybe I have- who knows- I may have even been heavier- though I shutter to think! I weighed in today at 379. Never in my life have I been this big! My biggest was 350 and that was HUGE for me. I saw 379 and I almost cried today! I was probably close or at 400 at my heaviest- that is such a scary number for me! This just proved to me more then EVER that I really need this surgery. It was a HUGE (no pun intended lol) wake up call for me and more then ever made me realize this is the right thing!
My BMI is 63- I was a little worried with it being that high but they assured me today the doctor has experience opperating on patients with BMI's over 60 so I felt better. I'm just really excited/anxious/nervous/happy/scared to start this whole process but am so happy it's finally moving along!

This is great! I need to make my own...lets see
-Cross my legs like a normal woman
-Be able to walk more then a block with out being winded
-Subway steps. My enemy. Be able to climb them with out feeling like I'm going to dye
-Ride a roller coaster comfortably. I have a fear of heighs and would probably hate them even if I was never fat, BUT I want to be able to do it- would be a huge NSV for me!
-Buy clothes at Victoria's Secret, Express and Charlott Russe. I've always wanted to shop at these 3 stores. I especially want to be able to buy one of those PINK shirts/pants from VS. Silly but it's something I've never been able to do and I've watched all the thin girls be able to fit them and i want it!
-No more wide shoes. The day I am able to go into a shoe store and buy a show in M width I will cry my eyes out
-Date. At 23 I should be dating a lot more then I do. I've been big my whole life and never dated like a normal girl- I settled for a guy for a while who was awful for me and almost 2 years later I find myself still hung up on it because in a way I guess I've felt I couldn't do better.
    -Wear shorts.
    - Persue the jobs/opportunities I've been too afraid to go for over fear of being rejected because of my weight
    - BE NORMAL
There it is, my very honest 'weight bucket list'

Today I decided to put together a bucket list of things related to my weight. I knew my weight effected me, but I never realized how gigantically :/
    1. Shop in normal stores and be able to wear whatever. No more over priced stores just because they are the only cute clothes in my sizes (ehemmmmTORRID). If I splurge, let it be for cute/sexy reasons, like Victoria Secret. And I want to be able to wear those hot outfits, and buy those hot little Halloween numbers without looking like an overstuffed sausage. And shorts. I haven't worn shorts since elementary school. And I want to wear them without chaffing.
    2. Go up and down stairs and walk long distances without feeling like I'm dying
    3. Tie my shoes without having to suck everything in and holding my breath
    4. Fit wherever I am. Chairs, seats, booths, rides, and not wonder if I'm too big, will I break it, and feel comfortable. And not have 1/2 my butt hanging off.
    5. I want to run for the first time. Even if it's to the car. I want to be able to run like skinny people and not look ridiculous or feel like I'm a million pounds after.
    6. Go to the pool/beach/boardwalk and not feel out of place. I want to be able to wear a bikini and look hot. I'm only 25! I don't want to feel like a whale washed up on shore next to my skinny fiancé, and I want to weigh less than him.
    7. I want to be able to walk in heels without feeling like an elephant on a tight rope.
    8. Speaking of my fiancé, I want to feel ok with letting him pick me up without freaking out on him not to.
    9. Skinny sex
    10. Being ok with pics taken of me. And not saying "omg delete this pic" on fb
    11. Not be the fat one of the group/setting
    12. Get the O_O look. For a GOOD reason. Double points if it's from someone in the past. Ex/schoolmate/whatever
    13. Feel comfortable. Period.
    14. Look beautiful and in a normal size on my wedding day, and not regret my weight in the pictures in years to come.
    15. Not let food control me. Or have others tell me I need to do something about my weight.
    Anyone else have ideas?

I've seen mostly posts from people in the 200 range but it's SO nice to see people who are close to my weight! My all time high weight was around 370- but I would say I'm about 350ish right now (Don't have a scale right now) I've wanted to have WLS for a long time, but for one reason or another have not gone through with it. This time I'm determined to go for it! Before surgery I want to try to loose 20-30lbs puting me in thr 330 range. I had set my 'goal' to 200lbs...never thinking it would be even possibly to go lower then that being as big as I am. But after reading this thread it's motivated me A LOT! I feel like I would actually be able to get to onederland some day with hard work and dedication! 200 is still my first goal but I feel like 150 would be possible down the line now!
Thanks so much for making this post!! I'll report back after my surgeon visit on the 18th!

Awesome visualizer! Pretty sure they don't make a big enough shelf to contain all my extra fat LOL.
It's also something like 4 sticks of butter for every pound of weight, so just imagine how many sticks of butter many of us have lost! Very motivating to look at it like that!

A few other random things about fit that might be helpful to folks loosing weight. The shoulder seam of a shirt or jacket should always be at the top of the shoulder. If it's further down your arm the garment is too large.
The cuff of your shirt or blazer should be where your wrist watch would be. If your jacket cuff covers the top of your hand it's too big, or if it shows your wrist watch when your arm is relaxed at your side (if you don't wear a watch just imagine where one would be lol) then the garment is too small.
Pants- if we're talking dress pants... the hem of the bottom of your pants should never touch the ground- if it is it's too long. And the pants should never revel the top of your shoe. The pants should cover the top of the shoe and just come a smidge above the bottom of the back of the shoe.
Just some random tips that may help someone out (or might not lol) but I think my professors would be proud to know I actually paid attention in my classes lol

I'm still pre op but it's a common misconception that loose clothes make you look smaller. It's actually the opposite, clothes that show the natural curve of your body (In a flattering way- obviosuly not a spandex bodysuit that's 2 sizes too small lol) but things that accentuate your waist actually make you look smaller. If you're wearing something that hangs on you, you will loose the shape of your body under the clothes and it makes you look larger.
There are rules to fashion, I know they can be confusing lol. With pants (a dress slack especially) you don't want it loose in the butt. There are diferent cuts to different types of pants though (wide leg for instance) which will 'skim' the butt and continue straight down the leg, that is not tight in the butt area. That cut can be good for someone with a larger butt who wants to make it look smaller. Generally though, you want the pants to hug your tush (no baggy booty) but not so tight that they fit you like your skinny jeans. (fashion major, I can't help myself lol)

Haha I love this question (I can't help it, I'm slightly inappropriate as it is) lol. Well I don't know about the inner workings changing...but I've been a fat girl forever, and I've noticed a common 'trait' if you will among big girls is a large 'mons pubis' - yes it's gonna get a little TMI- sorry boys! The mon pubis is that area where the pubic hair grows, and in a lot of big girls that part Is more fatty then regular size woman. I've always had an extra fatty bit down there. When I was younger I thought I was a freak of nature until I met other big girls and was able to compare notes lol. But that area will likely go down after weight loss from what I've heard (I'm pre op also so this is only hear say lol) I've heard that some ladies don't actually loose that fat pad much and wind up needing pubic liposuction (yes that's a thing lol) I'm hoping I loose some of it because in scared it will be noticeable and stick out and people may think I'm 'packing heat' or something LOL this whole ost was TMI, my appologies lol

I know that this is a ladies question but my wife had the gastric bypass lass june. She used to have a big ol booty...loved it, she used to have some lovely tatas too. But after the surgery she lost both of those. yeah I was a little sad....I won't lie...dont judge me. lol. however with the weight loss, the "hoo ha" is better than ever. first of all, I can see it! again..don't judge me. lol but its easily accessible and man just with her weightloss alone its much more pleasureable to her. So I wouldn't worry if i were you. You may lose the boobs and the booty but your girl down there will be in for a surprise....Im just saying.

This makes me so sad. People, children and adults can be so cruel. I am a teacher (Pre-K) so I know all too well what kids innocently, and not-so-innocently say.
I hope this can make you feel better. I have an adopted brother who is 9 years old. His name is Humoody and he is from Iraq. He was shot in the face with a shot gun he was two years old and his face is disfigured, he is completely blind and missing an eye. The one he does have is covered by a fake eye cap that looks real. He has been through hell as far as being teased and made fun of, having adult strangers come up to my parents (IN FRONT OF HIM) and say "what's wrong with your kid's face??" Too bad he is blind, not deaf, and he happens to be extremely intelligent. He is at the top of his class in math and reading and has a personality and sense of humor matched by few. I only thank god that he can't see people's rude stares at him.
So just remember, it's not all bad. You could have been disfigured or blinded. You are on your way to a healthier, thinner you. People that give you crap or say rude things have their own insecurity issues. People that are secure don't make comments to their children or others about some families "must eat fried food." You have to feel sorry for their kids because they are learning from example. Your kids will have compassion and character for dealing with this. I used to get yelled at: "Sueeeyy! Suueey!" when I was in elementary school. It was tough, but I'm better for it.
Check out these links if you like, they could give you a new perspective on being made fun of, etc...

Humoody is my little brother and he is now 9 and in the 3rd grade and thriving! He tells me he doesn't understand why I am having surgery because I have a great personality. If only we could all love like a blind child! <3 He sees what really matters.

So hopefully I can get things moving once I see him! I was told I wouldn't need to do a 6 month diet or anything, so hopefully the pre op stuff will go by fast! Are you post op Tracey?
