    Gum

I've chewed gum after surgery with no issue (I'm 3 months out but think I began with gum at around the 1 month mark) every surgeon is different, when in doubt ask!

  7. I'm Robin, I'm 24 from NYC (The Bronx) Single, no kids. I want to find Mr. right one day but don't think I'm quite there yet. I went to school for fashion marketing, interning for a shoe company now doing marketing and marketing research for them. Hopefully it will help me land a better job down the line. I'm in the middle of making some life transitions so not exactly sure where my professional life is going lol I like to watch movies, love horror movies! Love to cook (I'm a big foodee. Even post sleeve that hasn't chanced) I love fashion and clothes. Halloween is the best holiday. I'm already psyched to find an awesome costume this year now that I'm smaller! I had surgery on November 14th 2012 and I'm down 77lbs all together so far (20 pre op) I feel great!

    Help, 3 months post op!

I'm 3 months post op as well and I've noticed I can eat more too. It worries me that now I have to control it on my own when before the sleeve would kind of just stop me from over eating. It's important for me now to measure all my food and be aware of exactly how much I'm eating. It's a bit tougher now but we can still do this!

    Smaller feet

I've definitly noticed my shoes get loser. I had put on some weight the year before surgery and my shoes had gotten too tight one me that i couldn't even wear them. I remember crying and feeling so badly and that was one of the things that pushed me to surgery. Any way those shoes fit loosely not even with thick socks!! And I'm hoping I lose even more. I've always ha extra big and wide feet (12 or 13 extra wide) so it would be great to be able to fit into a regular 11 one day! I think I would pass out haha

What has been your worst calorie day?

Ill admit it, I've had a few days where I was probably around there. Ill be honest, alcohol was involved in one of them (no lectures please!). The others were just way too much grazing and where there was food all around me. Those are not normal numbers for me. I am for 600-800 cals most days. I always feel crappy with myself if I go over 1,000, but we are human, we have slip ups. I've been fortunate enough (or unfortunate really) that no food bothers me. Bread is fine, sweat don't get me sick. Nothing. I don't even get drunk off of alcohol the way others say they do. I had my first drink after surgery and was waiting to get drunk and it never happened. So I have to really watch myself carefully with my choices. I wish I had some issues with SOMETHING lol. But yea I've had a few high calorie days but as long as you pull yourself back up and do the best you can after, that's all that matters.

Why Do I Hate The Word "hubby" So Much?

Hubby doesn't really bother me, but the abbreviation DH just irks me sometimes. (Darling husband or Dear husband) I just find it silly when someone could easily just say husband. It just sounds kind of sarcastic to me lol. I don't know. Not much bothers me but that one kinda does.

    Gained 2 pounds?

This happened to me too. I freaked out. I was on a losing streak then BAM gained 3 pounds for no reason. I was eating well and even exercising. Was so upset and confused. I had gotten down to 305 then saw 308. I bounced around with those 3 pounds for 2 and a half weeks! SO frustrating. But you know what? I got on the scale yesterday and saw 302! So it does pass and you WILL lose them. The body just fluctuates. It's frustrating and disheartening but it happens but eventually the scale goes down. Hang in there!
  14. Signing up for this one too since the V day one ended. HW 379 SW 359 CW 302 Challenge goal 290. 12lbs. Fingers crossed! I weigh in on Wednesdays.
  15. I'm coming into this challenge late but the V day challenge ended and I need another challenge to motivate me lol Surgery date 11/14/12 HW 379 SW 359 Today 302 Challenge goal 292 Since I only have a month left 10lbs is kind of ambitious for me especially since I've been stalling lately. So fingers crossed and we will see!!

When can I start eating salads again?

At two months you should be fine. My dr said 6 weeks. Some say 6 months. It really depends on the surgeon/nut. I've had plenty of salads since then and I'm fine!

    DEALING WITH ATTENTION

It's starting to happen more and more for me. I'm single, but it's still kind of weird and some times it throws me off and I don't know how to act. I did get hit on before even at my biggest, but it's getting more frequent now and from men that I would actually have interest in and honestly my mind is still kind of learning how to deal with it. I've never been really good at flirting or telling if someone is interested in me or just being nice lol so it's a learning experience. But I will say there are days where it's much appreciated and a nice boost to the ego. Even if your not single receiving attention or a compliment always adds a boost of self confidence for the day which can never hurt

    Made my own riceless 'sushi'

Well okay it's not exactly sushi but definitely satisfied my craving for it! I bought these mini nori sheets recently- they had a roasted flavor very yummy and that's when I came up with this idea. I made riceless California rolls Imitation crab meat Nori Sliced avacado Julliened cucumber Layed it all out on top of the nori like an open faced sushi and voila! I ate 2 of these guys with a little soy sauce

    Protein oatmeal cookie

Made these the other night and they were yummy! They aren't very sweet though so if you want a little more sweetness add some Splenda or even some honey or agave. The calorie info for these is without any of that though. Going to add some dries cranberries in next time! 1 banana (mashed up so it's smooth) 1/2 cup whole oats 1/2 scoop of vanilla Protein powder (could use more but didn't want an over powering whey taste) 1 egg white Mix the banana, protein and egg white together. Add the oatmeal and combine. Drop Cookies on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 15 or so minutes until light brown. They don't have a cookie texture per say but are a great snack if you have a sweet tooth or even as a breakfast treat! Here's the nutrition info for one cookie. This made me 4 cookies.

Thanks. I didn't have to do a pre op diet. I basically just did low carb for a while before and lost 20 pounds. My doctor was not very strict on that. As for post op things were okay. I was in a lot of pain the first few days- wasn't exactly as easy as a recovery as some people I read on here. So the first few days I wasn't very hungry anyway. I had to do Clear liquids for the first 3 days then full for a week then purée then mushy. It went by pretty fast. I was super great-full to chew again lol. Just take it one step at a time with that.
