    It's all true!

In the beginning this was true for me. The first few months my hunger was very minimal and I didn't really desire to eat. At about 4 months post op the hunger returned though and now over a year out I sadly do have hunger again. It's odd though because sometimes it's minimal and sometimes it's just like it was pre op. Wish the hunger stayed away!

I would like to see your " most have" foods.

This is my usual shopping list. I don't buy all of this all the time obviously but I try to mix it up. I'm over a year out chicken breast Tilapia Ground turkey Shrimp eggs Low fat ricotta Low fat string cheese Low fat shredded cheddar cheese Pre made turkey meatballs (in the frozen section) fast easy and yummy! Cabbage Wonton wrappers Whole wheat flat breads Black Beans White beans Avocados Laughing cow light cheese wedges Spaghetti squash Butternut squash sugar free syrups (Torini is most known) Rice cakes Peanut Butter Sugar free preserves Turkey kielbasa Chickpeas Spinach Sunflower seeds (for salads) Dried cranberries (love em on salads) Goat cheese Roasted red peppers in a jar (highly recommend! Lots you can do with these) Pickles Portabello mushrooms Just some ideas!

    The criticizing bookstore clerk

I agree with everyone who says to tell the manager. That is absolutely unacceptable. I've worked retail for a long time and had I done that at any of my jobs I would have been written up. That is absolutely unacceptable behavior. You're always going to have people be judgy but as a consumer you don't need someone questioning your choices. That's like the cashier at the grocery story looking trough your food and lecturing you for your life choices. Just total nonsense. Even if someone thinks it they should NEVER say it outloud in that situation. This angers me SO much! If you can please go back and talk to management about her!

    concert 16 days after surgery?

You should be fine. I had a pretty rough recovery and at 2 weeks post op I traveled a few states away by bus to see a friend (involved quite a bit of walking around bus stations etc) I was totally fine. I'm 95 percent sure you should be feeling fine at that point but of course take it easy, carry a big thing of water if can and pace yourself. Good luck!

  7. I absolutely love this idea!! I am lacking support around me locally, I would be very interested in this! Monthly meetings would be awesome, or even every few months. I would be interested in helping with the organization in my area as well (New York City) To answer some of the questions asked Would you be interested in attending regular local chapter meetings in person? Yes with out a doubt! Would you be interested in being a leader (or co-leader)? Yes- though I'm not at goal, but would love to be in a position like that eventually Would you like BariatricPal to provide agendas for meetings? Yes structure would be fun. Like a set idea of what will happen at each meeting, or perhaps take feedback from attendees to see what they want What additional support could BariatricPal provide to encourage your participation and/or leadership? Overall I think it sounds like a great idea, the online support is great but to have in person meetings would be awesome Should there be limits on the minimum and maximum numbers of members that each Local Chapter can have? No I don't think a limit is needed- perhaps if it eventually grows to the point it will be overwhelming but even then I think it should accommodate everyone who wants to attend What other ideas do you have? I love the idea of cooking classes, meal prep ideas and healthy foods. Perhaps a look at different Protein powders and supplements. Also a good mix of discussion ranging from pre op, newly post op and vets Overall I think its an awesome idea and I'm excited to participate!

    Pierced My Nipples

I've wanted mine done for a long time but TMI my boobs are kind of a mess after all this weight loss haha. Good for you though yay!
  10. I was a HUGE diet pepai drinker pre op. like 3-4 cans a day addicted. I stopped a few months before surgery and stayed away for several months after surgery. I began again 6 or so months post op. I got addicted again (yea it is an addiction) and was drinking it every day. Cut it out again about 2 months ago. I'm over a year post op. I was totally fine drinking it by the way, no pain or anything. And I still don't think an occasional one would be bad, but as far as me I know I'm a diet pepsi addict so I need to limit it as much as possible.

    singles over 50 in nj

Good luck to you and all the other single folks! Dating post sleeve has been a real pain. I thought it would be so great to be a single girl who was smaller, I could date, enjoy it...long story short not so much. I dated a lot last year and it was terribly exhausting. I mean dating is awkward enough but the eating out part is really frustrating on the first date. I don't like to tell people on the first date I had surgery so there is the 'what's wrong don't you like it?' Comments, or the 'want a drink?'questions you have to carefully get out of. Too much stress! It would be awesome to meet a fellow bariatric patient- they would understand the struggle. So putting it out there- any single men in the NY metro area around my age (25) hit me up! LOL sorry had to try!

    Rosie odonnell

I'm happy for Rossie. Everyone loses differently at different speeds, and maybe she didn't want to be 150lbs. Not everyone's goals are the same and we need to respect that. I think she's doing great and she'll get there if that's where she wants to go. Don't think Its fair to say shes not doing well or what she should be doing. It's a marathon not a sprint. I say good for her.

    What's Your Favorite Store Now?

I'm really excited to be able to shop at Victoria's Secret. I've always wanted to wear their PINK hoodies and yoga pants and yes their bras. I'm not sure if I'm there yet. I've lost 107lbs so far- still have a ways to go. BUT I am finally fitting into Old Navy clothes in the stores. Their XXL used to fit me okay but now they're too big and I'm actually wearing their XL or even some L! That is drippy for me considering I used to be a size 26/28 and wear a 4X (all from online since they don't have plus sizes in the stores). I'm still wrapping my mind around going into 'normal' stores and it being okay to try on straight sizes. I feel like someone is going to stare and me like 'why is she in here? She can't fit these clothes!' Still. It's a very mental thing to get over.
  14. As a morbidly obese child then teenager I feel for you and your daughter. At 13 I was probably a little over 300 pounds and began looking into weight loss surgery around that time. There were no surgeons in the US that would perform surgery on someone my age and back then Mexico wasn't an option. Though part of wishes I would have been able to have surgery then (I wound up having it 10 years later at 23) I don't think at 13, as much as I read about it and studied it that I would have been mentally prepared for it. Not by a long shot. Though part of my definitely wishes that I could have grown up and had my teenage years without being morbidly obese. Just want to wish you all the best and lots of luck!

    Catheter for surgery?

I had a cath. I had a hard recovery so it was really a life saver for me because I wasn't able to get up until the day after. The cath itself wasn't a problem at all. I was so scared it would hurt coming out, but not at all. Just a little pressure. No big deal at all.

    Depressed after losing weight?

Yes this sounds very similar to me. I was very attached to being a big girl, a bbw. It was really hard for me to let that go. Often in the beginning after surgery I would see a woman bigger then me and always feel wistful. I'm not sure how to really explain it to most people because 99 percent of the people I've told these things to do not understand where I'm coming from AT ALL and think I'm quite strange for it. It's not even just that I miss eating and food, but actually miss being bigger in a lot of ways. It's still something I'm working on dealing with. Because of this I stopped losing weight for a while- though still needed to and need to lose more for my health- but yea I understand this ever well. If you ever want to chat shoot me a PM!

    Wow - this sucks

I had a really rough time right after surgery also so I totally feel your pain. I wasn't prepared for it to be as painful as it was. I read so many stories of people feeling no pain, sprinting down the halls a few hours after surgery, I was expecting an easy recovery. Not so much. The pain when I woke up was terrible and the 2 days I spent in the hospital were really bad. I cried for several days, i couldn't even get up the first two days like i read mostly everyone does. It got better once I got home but I was still in pain. It's different for everyone. People have different experiences and will tolerate things differently. I hope you're feeling better soon. It DOES get easier-hard to believe but yes it does. Hang in there!

    Dr. Oz...oh puleeze

I watched that episode also with he 56 pound woman. I hope she got the treatment she needs. I really don't like doctor oz for a lot of the reasons already mentioned. I feel like he's very shaming in a way 'no you're doing it totally wrong do it like this' I don't know, there are a lot of things I don't like about the guy. As for the foods he recommends- not really sure which ones he's mentioned. I'm lucky enough to have a fresh produce market close to me so I'm able to get a lot of fresh veggies and fruits etc but I know not everyone has that luxury, and again that's why I feel like he 'shames' people. For example I caught a segment where he was talking about types of lettuce. Iceberg being the lest good for you health wise, to dark greens being best. If someone said they are lettuce instead of saying 'good job on eating a salad instead if eating junk' it's more like 'no that isn't the best for you. Eat romaine.' I don't know I feel he's kind of condescending but that's just me. Sorry that was way more of a rant then I intended lol
