OMG me too - sleeved on 8/13 - rumble rumble - weirdest feeling and sometimes painful....almost like the nausea hungry feeling but not sure. ICK - lets all keep our eyes on our hot new bod prize!

Things went great! Third day in hospital, my abdomen isn't that bad its these terrible gas pains! Got my gauze off this morning, I have five incisions. Hoping to go home tomorrow.

Welp....tomorrow is the first day of my journey! Pre op diet starts and I won't get "real food" (chicken breast-whole) till the end of September. So to***ht I am going out and having a nice last supper with my boyfriend. I am not going to over do it but I will indulge in some cake

Thanks so much guys! You have really helped me out I am feeling a lot better now. I told my sister today...big leap...eeeek....at first she said she was mad that I didn't tell her sooner but she understands why I am doing it. It feels like a burden has been lifted off me...hopefully she will keep it quiet

Here's an interesting hypothetical. What if they had a surgery to cure alcoholism, or nicotine addiction? What if that surgery was available to everyone? Would the general consensus be that alcoholics and cigarette smokers are weak for having the surgery instead of quitting on their own? Would those surgeries have such a stigma?

I know I shouldn't think like this....but I am sort of ashamed to get surgery....I haven't even told my sister because I don't want anyone to know (she can't keep a secret). Also I keep thinking maybe I could diet one more time...I might stick to it this time. Then I think no I do need this...I'm at a tug of war feeling so down about my self....that I am sinking to a low of surgery? Just throwing my thoughts out there...

Thanks for all your stories I have decided to keep it a secret. When asked I will simply say Portion Control, exercising, and eating healthy. Which is not a lie. What I do to my body is my business. I mean it's my stomach....not a boob job lol can't lie about that one. No one can look at me and say see look! Her stomach is smaller! I am a private person, and keep things to myself and even though I don't care what people think about me, I kinda do when it comes to my body image. I got APPROVEDDDDD!!! YAY!! My surgery is scheduled for August 13. It took 4 business days to get approved! I am so excited, I cannot wait to start living!

Yea sleeve of steel I was gonna say the same thing- I have a great aunt that had her stomach removed due to Cancer, it was several years back - she's 103 now!! Seriously!

my mom basically had this procedure 20+ years ago due to having stomach cancer. She had about 75% of her stomach removed. She was 180lbs before her cancer, and she has been 110 since. She is normal and cancer free! That is proof to me this is the way to go !!
