This is true. However, that infamous "head hunger" is a mutha! You may still want to eat, and if you do, don't rely on feeling full. You may not recognize the feeling right away and end up getting sick.
My advice is to be mindful of everything you put in your mouth...and take it SLOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW.

LOL I guess I'm no help here really. I told plenty of folks. I didn't care what their reaction was. Once I made the decision, it was a wrap.

OK,OK,OK,OK...........I'm day 8 of my preop diet, only liquids are allowed from now until surgery on 7/16. I have sort of steered away from broths during this process because when opened they stink and earlier in the week the beef broth was disgusting. SOOO, today I got back up on my horse and opened a can of chicken broth, I added a little sea salt, poultry seasoning, garlic powder and pepper. Got my kitchen smelling like chicken and dressing. It is so good, that I ask my husband to taste it and he wanted to keep my mug. No he is maad because there is no chicken and dressing for Sunday dinner. Also MADE my first Protein Shake today and smells GOOD, added some sf carmal flavoring. I can't wait to tell you what it tast like!

So I finally decided to bare trying on clothes after losing so far 57 pounds. I went to Torrid yesterday since they were having a buy one get one half off sale. I tried on this dress http://www.torrid.com/torrid/Clothing/Dresses/Casual//Black+And+Electric+Blue+Color+Block+Maxi-536490.jsp and another maxi dress. I used to wear a size 4 (26/28 )in this store and now I'm down to a size 2 (18/20) when it comes to dresses. I was so excited I started crying thinking about how when I was bigger it was harder to find something and how far I've come. It felt really good fitting into those dresses. So now I have two cute dresses for my trip to Europe next month. Here's a pic of the other dress I bought. Can't wait to see more results and enjoying my new life.

The only thing I took was Gas-X strips (which didn't really work for me at all--ugh!!)
Everything else you'd need for pain, nausea or blood clots, they can/will provide. At least Dr. Kelly did.

Hey everyone, it has been an interesting and life altering 10 months, but I have finally hit the 100 lbs lost mark. I am over 15 lbs below my original goal, 5 pounds below my revised goal and now officially past my dream come true goal.
Now that I have hit the goal, I do still want to lose a bit more, but my body will decide when enough is enough, and if that was now I would be okay with that.
Keep up all your hard work everyone, there is no better feeling then seeing the results of all your hard work!

I believe that the OP really feels something awful happened and an injustice was done to her. However, as a RN of almost 16 years (8 working in the hospital), I have had a few patients who dramatize things due to various reasons. Medication given in the hospital can make one wonky. Just the fact of having surgery can make one "off" for a bit. There are times I was accused of hiding the call button when in fact the patient dropped it on the floor!
The fact that OP lost so much blood can temporarily deprive the brain of oxygen. That also can cause perception to be way off. OP claims the whole state of LA is corrupted? Come on. OP I am sorry that you had a complication and were so sick for a bit. Yes, you could be recalling everything correctly. BUT, if a medical review board and all those lawyers don't agree with you then maybe, just maybe you are not remembering correctly?
I also think you should get to another surgeon and get checked out. I also think maybe it would help you to talk to a professional about this as you do sound traumatized from it. Best of luck.

I think its pretty sad that anyone would have to apply for medicaid anyway. The cost of insurance is very prohibitive, even if you get it through work. If you're a family of 4, that's a chunk out of your check. Not only that, but how ridiculous is it that a lot of private insurance companies don't cover the surgery?? They don't give discounts on WW or other weight loss plans either, BUT, they will cover a drug that wont help us make a lifestyle change. It just perpetrates the lie that drugs will magically make us thin and the drug companies will make more money. There's no excuse for anyone in this country to be uninsured, its the antithesis of a "Christian" nation to have so many people struggling alone in their health. I applaud anyone who will do whatever it takes to make themselves healthy. And for the naysayers, would you rather have the "govt" pay for $10,000 in surgery? Or 10's of thousands in the coming years for diabetes, heart conditions ect?

I was just reading through the insurance forum, because I'm pre-op and I'm always on the look-out for info about Cigna. I noticed a thread about someone asking about applying for Medicaid to cover their surgery, and someone made the comment, "I'll just keep my opinion to myself." It hit a nerve and I'm about to go off, so I'll just blame it on the diet.
How dare anyone on a SURGICAL WEIGHTLOSS FORUM judge anyone else for trying anything humanly possible to lose weight and better their lives. Really? To anyone who thinks they're better than someone else, take a look in the mirror, hun. You're obese or morbidly obese just like the rest of us. Who cares if you have private insurance, because it may or may not cover wls anyway. Sorry ya'll, but I am a nurse who works in a county hospital, and taking care of the uninsured and under-insured is my passion. That comment just really pissed me off. No one is better than anyone else here, whether you have insurance or not. That was a rude comment made by someone who is so much of a coward, they don't even have a pic of themself on their profile. Ok, I'm stepping off of my pedestal.

Hi makeupartist80. So sorry to read of all your pain. I had pain and nausea initially, but nothing like what you are describing. At 13 days out myself, I'm getting liquids down with ease. Don't worry, soon you will too. Your weight loss is fantastic, however!

I haven't stalled yet (thank god!!!), but I best most of you have cuz either 1) you had a huge initial loss and your body needs to adjust, or 2) your menstrual cycle is probably the cause.
I can imagine it's frustrating (I know my time will come), but the great thing about this surgery is that you WILL begin to lose again.
    Keep the faith!

CJ_Redux reacted to lollyfidy1965 in Freinds...how Many Of Us Have Them?
Its difficult to respond to this post without becoming emotional...because I, too, can relate. Each of us has played a particular role in the lives of others around us. It may be hurtful to hear this, but these wonderful, life-long friendships may not have been as fully sincere as we thought. Many people, thick or thin, are extremely insecure about their physical appearance. In my experience, many insecure thin people keep "fat friends" around in order to feel better about themselves, and to "look" better (to others looking in), in comparison to the heavier person sitting next to them. It may not even be a conscious thing on their part...I think, in many ways, its simple human nature...as hurtful as it might be, to those of us on the other side of the coin. As hard as it may be, the only healthy thing to do is to refocus on those TRUE friends who are loving and supporting you...cheering you on, as you conquer the Goliath in your life...the excess weight you've been dragging around with you. Don't let petty jealousy, and another's insecurity, pull you down. They simply aren't worth the energy you're going to expend worrying and hurting over them. Much love and encouragement to all!!

Mmmmm I would LOVE some pureed Beans...or mashed potatoes. OMG!!! I've got another week and a half to go. I hope I make it!
I think my taste buds are changing too, though. I find that I don't really like any Protein shakes, when before surgery they weren't a problem. Right now, I'm drinking the EAS shakes and they are tolerable. But I long for the day when I can eat other sources of Protein cuz these shakes are for the birds man!!! Whoo!!!
