doxieville I had no pre-op, my doctor didn't require it. Yes, 17 in 5 weeks.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT! I HAVE PRINTED OUT SOME OF YOUR COMMENTS AND WILL DOING MY BEST TO FOLLOW YOUR ADVICE. I AM STILL VERY VERY HAPPY I DID THE SURGERY MAINLY BECAUSE food DOESN'T HAVE CONTROL OVER ME ANYMORE AND I NEVER THINK ABOUT IT. I THINK MY PROBLEM MIGHT BE THAT I AM CONTINUING MY OLD HABITS AND HAVE TO HAVE BETTER PLANNING WHEN IT COMES TO MY MEALS AND Snacks.
THANK YOU ALL

I have 100 total to lose. 35 is not terrible, but I am constantly in a stall. Weeks will pass and I will be the same weight, and then 2 lbs will come off. It's a little disheartening. My nutritionist said 1/2 - 3/4 c 3x a day, the doctor says 5 small meals is better! I just want the weight to come off quicker.

Thank you for the information, especially Lollifidy1965. I can't seem to get myself organized with food, but you've given me great ideas.

Yes, I know that that is 35 lbs I would never have lost w/out the sleeve, but even my doctor said it should be more.

I was sleeved 8/6/12. It's my 3 month anniversary and I am down 33 lbs. I don't know what I am doing wrong. I saw the doctor yesterday and he said I should have lost more, but maybe my metabolism is slow. I can eat about 3/4-1 c at a sitting. After I eat I am stuffed, but only for about 30-40 mins. I eat about 4x a day. I am getting Protein, I exercise 3x a week, I should drink more Water, but other than that, I don't know what I am doing wrong. I have had stalls that last 2 and 3 weeks. The majority of my loss was in the first month and a half. A typical day of eating is: Greek yogurt, 1/2 banana, protein bar and about 20 oz water, all before 1:00 pm. 1/2 sandwich and a small dinner, maybe 20 more oz water.
I am so happy I had the surgery, but I want to feel excited and I want to see great results for this amount of effort.

Ahhh, to be 25 again! I agree that the weight comes off easier for the younger ones! I'm only down 25 lbs in 5 weeks. That is good, but I had a stall and I'm in another one already. But my doctor did bring up a good point, he said, would you have lost 25 lbs without the surgery? Good point! No, I would not have.

As of today I am down 1 lb (although I gained 3!?) I am hoping my stall is done! It lasted 15 or 16 days, I started my menses, so I am sure that had a lot to do with it - retaining fluids, etc. Less the losing begin!!

Do you exercise?

Thank you all, I feel much better!

I was sleeved 8/6/12. By 8/15/12 I was down 16 lbs. As of today, the 26th day of being sleeved, I am down 16.5. Is this stall normal? I do find myself grazing, could that be the problem.

the only real pain i had was the gas pain that settled in my upper left shoulder. surprisingly, i had no stomach pain, only some tenderness. sleep was an issue for me the first 4 days. i woke up on day 5 like a totally different person. i felt 100% better. you will be fine. just do it and don't think about what will be, everyone is different and it will pass.
-
i was sleeved 8/6 and i had the same issue for the first 2 weeks. a couple of times i took a small mouthful, chewed and spit. i just wanted to feel texture in my mouth and have some flavor. it actually worked and i felt satisfied. now i have started with the mushy foods...yogurt, cottage cheese, creamed Soups. it is very hard to eat. you eat so little and feel so full. this will pass too and soon we will all find our own "normal" routine. don't listen to your brain, tell it your body is in charge now.

Thank you for this. You are very inspirational and motivating. I am only on my 12th day, so this means a lot!!

We can't exercise until we get cleared at our 6th week. Only light arm weights.

I am in NJ and I just had my sleeve done on 8/6/12 with Dr. Trivedi at Hackensack Hospital. Feel free to ask me/inbox me any questions. I am VERY happy with my decision.

Thanks everyone. My doctor never said anything about Protein Drinks for the first 2 weeks, only clear fluids. I will have to double check.

I had my surgery on Monday. It is now Thursday and my stomach grumbles, I feel like I will throw up, but don't and I am very tired. Doctor's office says this is normal. When will I feel better?

Oxford approved me at 12:00 noon today...surgery is Monday. Have all the crazy thoughts in my head that you all did, but KNOW this is the best thing for me. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

i think you need to lose all the extra weight first and see then how your body changed. exercising helps, alot. you are young, so you'll probably be better off then me.

i only drink 1 cup a day and if it's black, a half cup will suffice. From what I've read...it's all about the protein! I haven't been sleeved, but I will keep you informed when I do about the headache situation!

I haven't had any trouble with any type of food...sometimes ice cream, but that's a blessing for me!
