I don't have PCOS and I can set my watch by my cycle, but my cycle came 2 weeks early after Inhad surgery. It sucks, and the cramps were even worse.

It's interesting that I'm reading this story, because this same thing happened in my department. A patient over heard some nurses talking about her size, and she was a post-op WLS patient. When it was all said and done, we had to complete 4 hours of sensitivity training, and we lost 1/2 of our Press Ganey bonus, the usual $250 went down to $125. It was enough to piss everybody off, because those bonuses are given around Christmas. Needless to say, we were all on our best behavior afterward, and if someone said something, it was said away from anyone hearing.

Although, there is no dumping of a mechanical nature, the sugar alcohols used in some sugar free candies causes dumping due to the chemical nature of the ingredients. If anyone has eaten more than a few pieces, they would have a story to tell.

I'm 36 years old, an OR nurse and I just became an acute care nurse practitioner. I'm a single mom with a soon to be 16 year old special needs daughter. She is the reason I'm the person that I am, and I credit God for giving her to me. I live in Cypress, Tx (a suburb of Houston) and I own my home. The man of the house is a Schnauzer and he takes his job seriously, lol. I love to read and watch ID. Life is good, and it'll be even better after surgery.

    Hi everybody!
My name is Kim and I am 36 yrs old. I am an ACNP (Acute Care Nurse Practitioner) and will be starting a RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assistant) program the day after I get sleeved. Yikes! I was a CST (Certified Surgical Tech) for 4 years before becoming a CNOR (Certified Nurse of the Operating Room) for the last 8 years. I'm a single parent of a special needs daughter, who will be tuning 16 on August 4th. I've been busy planning her surprise Sweet 16 party, so between shopping for pre-op Protein shakes and what not, I've been shopping for the party. I'm excited at the possibility of not being in so much pain everyday, plus no more HTN or DM.

I've gained 3 pounds in the last 2 weeks. I knew that I was making horrible choices, and still couldn't stop myself. I'm fixing (I'm from Texas) my lunch for today, and in goes 2 shakes, and a high Protein yogurt. I'm getting back on track to lose 15 pounds by Valentine's Day.

I think it's all stress and food related. Either we're post-op and can't drown the stress with food (me) or we're pre-op and have even more issues than the post-op folks (fear of surgery, cost of surgery, will it work), etc. I recommend anyone having any of these issues to just take a week off from VST and enjoy the holidays. If you mess up on your diet, it's okay, just get back on. No one will die from eating a cookie, but you won't feel so good after eating 10, so don't do it. Happy Holidays everybody!
