  1. Last night I was shopping and I found a FABULOUS dress - in a size 14/16. I am currently a 24/26. According to my surgeon, nut, and others that have had the sleeve, I'm gonna be in this dress before fall (!!!). Has anyone else bought a goal outfit like this? Are you planning on it? I'm hoping it keeps me motivated to stay in track and not cheat on my pre-op!
  2. Wow!!! You are GORGEOUS!!! Way to go!

Woohoo!! That's what I'm hoping for :-). I have a good friend that can use it when I shrink out of it :-)

    Coffee- Decaf. K-Cups?

I am loving Tully's French Roast decaf. It doesn't taste decaf at all.

    July 4Th Challenge

I've lost a pound! Doing an Atkins-style plan before my liquids start next week. Haven't gotten any activity in though.
  6. I apologize if this is a repeat question - I did a search and didn't find anything on this, so I thought I'd ask! Has anyone tried the unjury unflavored Protein? I'm thinking about getting that to start with along with the vanilla so that I can add my own flavors to it, then get other flavors later, but I wanted to know how it is as far a texture and blendability (if that is even a word, LOL). Thanks all in advance!

    I Hate Everybody

We share a date, and lemme tell ya' the exact same things are going through my mind too. It's just nerves: this is one of the most significant life changes a person can make! Hang in there, it'll be here before you know it!!

Paperwork Sent To Insurance Company For Approval

Why were you denied?? Appeal that!! With the issues you have, there is no reason you should be denied. Talk with your surgeon too- any surgeon worth his salt will be able to help with the appeal process. I'm so sorry :-(
  11. I'm sorry if it came across that I was being judgemental: again, that was not my intent. I do know what a liquid diet is like: I've done my share. So I do know how hard it is. My point was that eating what you're not instructed to could mess things up for you in the long run. I AM being supportive, sometimes support comes in ways that we don't necessarily want to hear. Success at this is a very big deal. I am glad that you checked with your doc and nut and that they gave you great information. Good luck in your journey.
  12. I didn't intend on that sounding harsh, and I'm sorry if it came across that way. Just wanted to point out the realities of the situation. I am also pre op, but for me, I am willing to do whatever it takes and follow the doctor's orders to the letter to do this right. Is it really worth the chance of having to miss out on surgery and have to do it again anyway? I am not trying to step on toes or make anyone mad, just trying to make a very important point.
  13. My question is this: If you can't make the two week pre-op, are you really ready for the change of life that will come after surgery? Don't forget. That you will be on liquids for a while after surgery. And at that point if you cheat, it could be disasterous. The pre op diets are meant for a physical and a medical reason. Yes, but they also serve a higher purpose in helping us break the food addiction that got us all here in the first place.

    July Sleevers

Just got my date yesterday for July 11! I'm excited to see so many sleeve twins!
  15. My doc requires a 10 day optifast pre-op. I haven't tried it yet, but everyone I've asked about it likes it.
  16. July 11th here! Yep, the emotional roller coaster has definitely begun!
  17. I had one this past weekend: went to a Chinese buffet. It was a place we've gone to since I was a child, so to me it wasn't just saying goodbye to food, but I was saying goodbye to that part of my life. I will be able to eat Chinese food again, yes, but never an all-out buffet food-orgy. I don't regret it at all. This week I'm doing a high protein, low carb diet with lots of protein shakes before my pre-op diet starts. I'm glad I had the "food funeral", but am also glad it's over.

    July 4Th Challenge

I haven't done great this week. Being pre-op, I'm fining it harder than ever to not just eat everything in site! I did have a bit of a NSV: we went to a Chinese buffet and I ate half as much as I would have originally. That was a big deal for me. SW:310 Pre-surgery W: 292 Surgery Weight:? Current weight: 298 So I've gained 4 lbs. this week. Meh.
  20. Am so excited I can't see straight!! My surgeon closed at noon today, so I have to wait until Monday to get my date, but it's real!!! This is really happening!!

    Two Week Pre-Op Diet?

Hospital stay varies from doctor to doctor. Some actually DO send their patients home the same day. I don't know that I agree with that strategy, but it happens. As for pre-op diet - that's actually VERY important - every doctor is different. Some do a strict low-carb phase, some do a liquid diet, some do two weeks, some only a week. So I would definitely call the office back and ask to speak with the nurse. She should know her stuff, and if she doesn't then I'd consider another surgeon . . .
  22. I was one of those that prescribed to the "WLS is only for ___". After listening to some peoples amazing stories, though, I've come to realize that some people that are smaller need it to save their lives just as much as I need it to save mine. Just because your BMI is 32 doesn't mean you don't still have sleep apnea, diabetes, or other weight related problems.

    Feeling No Support

I LOVE this statement!! That's been my experience too. The one person that has said anything negative about it for me has never had a weight problem in her life and has always been a natural size 00.
