  1. they are considering doing it Nora found a post about it and Alex said that their will be changes even a premium membership.

Alex NEVER said anything about charging to use the site. He said "premium memberships" are soon to come. Typically premium memberships are not much more than ad free viewing and maybe a few extra smilies. He is finding ways to give people the ad free viewing they want and at the same time continue to generate the revenue needed to maintain the servers this forum rides on and pay for all the bandwidth we all consume. And really for all he has provided would it be so bad for there to be a few dollars left for him to enjoy?

  2. The difference is that in Mexico you are most likely going to get a surgeon who has multiple times the experience, also you won't be dealing with a medical industry that has a God complex. From my experience on this forum, you will likely have less chance of complications, and if you do have any you will have a much more attentive medical staff.

I really do not fault the surgeons themselves for this, I see it primarily as a condition caused by a litigious society and an insurance system that forces doctors into an attitude of self preservation before anything else.

  3. What phase after surgery did you start to use these? Would they both be mixable into Protein shakes or how would you suggest someone use them who is on liquids only?

    Thanks

Chia seeds you should be at least 6weeks post op before adding. I add 2 tbsp of chia to each of my Protein drinks.

Hemp is a powdering use it to make a Protein smoothie with. My recipe changes a bit from time to time, but currently it is

    4oz mango purée (Naked)

    8oz coconut Water

    4tbsp hemp protein (Nutiva 15g)

    2tbsp Nectar® fuzzy navel

1tsp KyoGreen (optional) (also tastes horrible)

  4. Hello Everyone' date='

I was wondering if maybe some of you have done research on self-pay cash prices for the procedure in southern california? My insurance covers Lap-Band but not the sleeve. I origanlly went to a seminar for Lap-Band with Dr. Naim in Costa Mesa and he started talking about the sleeve. I have done an extensive research on the subject over the weekend and I think I want the sleeve over the band. But my insurance says no... So does any of you know of a reliable good surgeon with a reasonable price?[/quote']

If you are already I'm southern Cali, have you considered Mexico?

  5. Sort of tempted to order from amazon' date=' but again some horrid reviews. They also talk about added sugar and other things (chloride?)[/quote']

If you have a Price Cutter local to you they stock this one. Just look at the label, the one I order is just coconut Water, but they do make some with sugar & pulp.

  6. What is your preferred coconut Water product? I have been drinking vitacoco while on vacation this last week (excellent post workout) and considered ordering it from Amazon until I read the reviews. Next I checked out Nirvana Coconut Water which has much better reviews on Amazon. Before committing to a product and even to a subscription' date=' I want to make sure I am getting the best product and it is economical. I cannot order cold coconuts ( had one this week) so will settle for product as long as it is good quality and close to drinking out of an actual coconut.[/quote']

This is the one I use. My only problem is that I have to order 5-6 cases a month.

I think the old lady likes them more than me.

  7. I have a great support network of my son' date=' sister and group of close friends. They have been rock solid behind me since my survey three and a half weeks ago.

Next week I go back to work and will see colleagues who haven't seen me for over a month. And I look pretty different! I am down 2-3 clothes sizes since they saw me last (my ticker gets updated after next weigh in on June 5). I am torn between not wanting to discuss my sleeve and not wanting to lie. I will be on soft foods so that will also be noticed...

How have you handled questions about your weight loss, whether from work colleagues or from acquaintances?[/quote']

I would simply say "I'm not ready to talk about it yet."

I appreciate that you value honesty, and you absolutely can maintain your privacy & integrity at the sme time.

  8. It does take time. Your skin unfortunately shrinks more slowly than your fat stores do. But the good news is that it will continue to keep shrinking for 2 years, sometimes longer. And yes, we are our worst critic. We see every flaw.

Do you have before pictures? Take some current pics, even if you don't show anybody else. When you lay them side by side, you will be amazed how far you have come.

  9. The TDEE calculator said to consume 2062 calories with 1 gram of Protein per lb I weigh. Thats alot of Protein. 202 grams wow.

1g protein per pound is based on lean body weight. Use your height and factor a BMI of 21-23 that will get you close to your lean body weight.

Personally I think that 1g/lb is a bit high for anybody that is not a professional athlete, but I'll leave that one alone because though more than you need, it really won't hurt.

  10. I don't really worry to much about fat levels. My general rule of thumb is that I do not want my total daily calories to be over 12.5 times the grams of Protein I've consumed. Earlier in the process I used 10X.

You do however want to monitor the types of fats you are consuming. Try to minimize saturated fats, red meats are one of the worst fats & should be used sparingly. If you are getting your fats from Beans, nuts, avocado, olives, fish, etc. then I wouldn't worry too much about it.

  11. Do others know if one banana a day is enough potassium? I would think so' date=' but want to hear from others on it.[/quote']

A medium banana contains about 411mg of potassium or 11% rda.

My preferred source for potassium is coconut Water

    16oz can = 700mg (20%rda) and like banana, it's a real food source and not a supplement.

  12. One thing that seems to be missed throughout this thread is, smaller is not better. Small sleeves tend to be more susceptible to complications. Very small sleeves have twisted inside the body, and also are more likely to have problems with acid reflux. This is one of the primary reasons you almost never hear of a 28 or 30 being used anymore.

I think the best advice is to make sure you are very comfortable with the surgeon you have chosen, & trust that he/she will make the best decision.

  13. Thanks OTR- BTW- I have heard that the isolate Protein really helps with shrinking the liver prior to surgery. Have you heard of this as well?

Sent from my iPhone using VST

Haven't heard that specifically, but it does make some sense, the Protein will help keep you satiated so you are less tempted to eat high fat foods.

  14. I just tried the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chocolate Splendor and it was delish!! My NUT told me to only drink whey or soy Protein ISOLATE and NO Protein concentrates. Has anyone else been told this as well?

Sent from my iPhone using VST

Your NUT is giving you very good advice. Whey protein isolate eliminates all lactose. Since lactose intolerance is much more common this is beneficial. Additionally micro filtered whey (unjury & nectar) are more quickly absorbed.
