    The beginning

I wish they would close that road because I have been down it as well. I reached my highest weight and planned to get the band when my doctor recommended the sleeve. I researched it a lot and found it to be the answer. I am at the end of week 3 and have never really felt the surgery part only the restriction of food and drink. Pre and Post surgery I have lost 46 lbs. as time goes on I am finding out how much I can eat comfortably. My only issue to date is I had acid reflux before the surgery and it is bothering me some now, I guess I should take some pills again but I have held off. I had a lot of folks praying for me so I will try to remember you in my prayers. I assume you will do this after your baby is born???
  2. Went to the Kansas Games yesterday KU and KSU and both won so today they will be playing each other. Yes I have a ticket for that as well. In the box seats you get fed as well as drinks. I was kinda scared of what I would be facing since this is week 3. I know I should not hit any beer because of the fizz. However, I did have a Jack over Ice and took very little sips and was amazed that it did not effect me at all. I also had some barbeque pork that did not effect me either. I did notice that it took a whole game (KU) to have approx 1 inch of Jack over ice. As the ice melted the drink seemed to keep refilling itself. So the 2nd game (KSU) I tried a Captain Morgan with a diet coke very little diet coke because of the fizz but I knew that alcohol would reduce the fizz. Again no issue and it took the whole game to get it down. But it was very enjoyable. I thought this would impact the weight loss but when I weighted this morning another 2 lbs down. I know this was probably wrong but I have not had a drink in 6 weeks kinda felt good. by the way you only need a few sips to start a buzz on.... seems it goes to the small intestine quickly and then well you know. Just thought I would share that with you. Later today I get to go to the big game here in Kansas both KU and KSU are a big deal fighting it out, The place will be a mad house. And the power and light district will be party zone central.

2 WKs Out - FOOD ISSUES Need Help

I am coming up on two weeks and I still can't eat very much before I am full, when does that sort of diminish? I have lost 41 lbs including pre-op so the weight has really fallen off me. I am just starting to feel a little tired. So is that just vitamins? Guess I don't understand how the starting real food affects everything. I am just getting to where I can drink a normal sip of water, food heck I can't eat anything before I am full. Did you guys have that issue. When I eat it takes about 1 1/2 hours for just a small amount is that normal? Ring me back on this I am interested.

    Update

240 man you have me beat already..... I started at 311 .... the 1st two weeks you will find you can only eat very very little and feel comfortable. They tell me it eases up after that and tonight I felt it was starting to happen. Good luck and get some liquid tylenol after day one I took some and slept like a baby. For the first 3 days I felt like I had a lot of acid so I also took some acid reducers. Outside of that everything was great. Hope yours is just as good.

2 WKs Out - FOOD ISSUES Need Help

42 lbs is including Pre surgery as well. I have worked out every day for 30 minutes on a Elliptical machine. However, I believe I am burning more than I can get so today I have stopped the work out and focus on the Protein and Vitamins. I actually felt much better today. It has only been 3 days that I felt weak. So hopefully I have caught it, I actually did not want to loose this fast but heck I will take it. I also have had no pain from the surgery my doctor Thomas Umbach in Vegas installed a Pain drip system that would last for 3 days – honestly I would not have believed it. I figured this problem was my creation from the working out. I am focused on doing this right, I am in the next size pants and the belt is on the last hole so new clothes are needed soon – not bad for 2 weeks. The only issue I have had is the ability to get the amount of Protein down, trying but it is a slow go.

    8 days until surgery, scared

What if will stop you from success - What if you don't do it..... I just had the sleeve done about 1 1/2 weeks ago. I followed every rule I was told, no cheating. I had the same thoughts about it (not cancer) but not reversable. My weight and life was screaming for change and it out weighed my concern - remember this surgery was originally for the super obese folks to help them get to the point of having the by pass but they were too large for the whole thing at once. However, they were finding that most did not come back for the 2nd surgery because they were doing so good on the sleeve. Again I followed every rule and I actually never had any pain which was surprising to me. My doctor installed a pain pump or drip system that would last approx 3 days. If you go to my blog you can read that story. Called I did it!!!!! Every decision is important but if you are this far along you have made the commitment to loose weight and think of this as a tool you will be successful. I hope you make the right decision for you. God bless you and I will pray for you.

All T's crossed and i's dotted

Good news today everything is finished and planned. Just waiting for the day 24th - the more stuff I read on this blog the more excited I am to get it on. So Thanks for the time you have spent telling me your stories. I have made the Gym 5 days in a row now up to 1/2 hour on the mill plus weights. Shakes and one lean and green meal is working ok - more excited than hungry. :w00t:
  15. How many times have I pondered this question? Well after a long time reviewing it watching the actual surgeries on line talking to others on this site. The Sleeve is the way to go for the long haul!!!! I am scheduled for sugery on 2/24/10 and I have started the pre-Op diet and so far doing well. I have been to the gym 6 days in a row and feel better than ever. My wife and I are getting up at 4:00 am having Decalf (Yuk) read our bibles for about a half hour or so and then head to the gym. Spend about 40-45 minutes doing cardio Tread mill or Eliptical, and some weights. Head home shower and I have to fix a shake for breakfast while my wife who is fit, 5 miles a day type of person can eat anything. I can't wait to show her up some day.... Ha! Well anyway I have shakes for breakfast and lunch for these 2 weeks and at dinner eat lean and green type meals. The nutritionist told me to put a watch at the top of my plate and what ever is on my plate for dinner analyze it and devise a way to eat it in 1/2 hour. My normal mode is WOLF, so this is hard. Yesterday I left half a pork chop on the plate and I remember when 3 were normal, eating slowly really works. My plan is to keep a log of my journey weather anyone reads it or not it will keep me focused on the end game. Well time to go....

    reconsidering lap band

Welcome..... I was set and ready for the Band myself and my doctor recommended the Sleeve so I held back and decided to do lots more research. I have decided it is the way to go for me. This site is also great and I come to read everyday. I hope you make the right decision for yourself. I like the fact that the hormone that generates hunger is greatly deminished which sold me over the band which I read post about others being hungry all the time. Well good luck with your decision.

Starting the two weeks prior to Surgery

Well I have started the count down process after meeting with the Nutritionist the following things have happened. She told me to go to the gym every day whether I worked out or not just to get in the habit. Of course you can't go to the gym and not work out, so my muscles are screaming at me, but I do feel like I am giving it my all. The other thing that I am doing is putting a watch on the other side of my plate for dinner and she told me to look at what I had on the plate and estimate how to eat it in a half hour. You would think that is easy but try it. That has been incredible, where I used to eat very fast and get more. I find it hard to finish what I have and I have not had surgery yet. That is so cool..... We also went shopping for the protein powders to mix and I found one that is really great ... zero carb, Zero Fat, 24G of protein per scoop. Chocolate truffle and more. I am trying to sip it and take the half hour to down it as well just to stay honest with the process that I was given. So far it is not been hard just sore from working out. I will keep you posted on the process.:001_tt2:
