Chuckles reacted to JazzyJ in Funny Response From My Husband...
So I finally told my husband about the surgery (my date is Oct. 8). After I explained it, his response was "so they take OUT your stomach but leave the fat? That makes no sense at all!". When I stopped laughing I explained it again...

Glad to hear all is well. The hardest part of exercise is starting. So just have your cannon ball moment and get to walking. Everything you do exercise wise...do it. It's only going to help you. And I know we are here to lose pounds, but so long as I am losing something (pounds, inches, emotional hang ups, etc) then who cares?! Progress is progress regardless of the increment used.
Take care of you!!

Chuckles reacted to TheRealMeIsHere! in How About An Nsv List For The Post-Op's?!
Feels awesome, doesn't it? I'm down 119 and have almost ALL of the same experiences. Keep up the good work.
Some of my other NSV's are:
I eat to live, not live to eat. food used to be something I would obsess about, order out, spend a lot of time preparing. Now...I think sometimes that something would be good, but then I move on, it does not become an all consuming desire.
A funny DUH moment recently. I began going to a gym, every day, a month ago. When leaving the gym, I would think 'hmmm, I smell Chinese food'. Two weeks later...I notice that there is a Chinese buffet next door, actually attached to the gym 2 doors down!! A year ago, I wouldn't have noticed the gym.

Chuckles reacted to *susan* in Wow, Was That Really Me?
I get what you are saying, I think. I know there are people who wouldn't give me the time of day when I was 283 pounds, 100 pounds less and suddenly they were my best buddies, NOT! On the inside, I am still the same person, just with a different packaging now. If I wasn't good enough for you then, I sure don't want you in my life now.
It is rare for me to find old pictures of myself, I was always so embarrassed of my weight, I avoided the camera at all costs. I still do, because in my mind, I still think I am going to look like that person I was three years ago.

I am 37, six months ago, I was 5'6" and weighed 373 pounds.
My son has ran cross country for the last 2 years. I have been lucky to be able to watch him start, then take the parent shortcut to the finish line in time to see him finish. It has always bothered me that I couldn't help him train in any way.
Today, I am still 5'6", but am now down to 270. This morning, my son and I participated in a 5k. Yes, he had to wait for me at this finish line, but I crossed it at 49:30' still able to sprint the last 40 yards. And I did not puke, pass out, or die.
My 14 year old son, told me that he was proud of me today. I have had many nsv's, but none of them made me feel as good as this one.
Worth it all, everyday and twice on Sunday.
Much love

Chuckles got a reaction from Justine13 in Psych Eval
Mine took about 50 minutes after an initial 45 minutes of filling out true and false, multiple choice questions and a one page answer to why i wanted the surgery and what i expected the outcome to be. To be honest, it put a lot of things into perspective as i went through all of it and i am really glad they make us do it. I am thinking of going for another session in a few weeks (when i am roughly 12 weeks post op) so i can better access where i am in my journey.

That is great. It is funny how each pound is just a pound. But those milestone pounds mean so much more. Whether it is losing an even number like 20, or 50 , or 100 pounds, or when the scale hits an even number - or better yet, just a pound under an even number.
Great job. You should be very proud.

candy, I think the therapist is a GREAT idea! All of us have issues surrounding food or we wouldn't be here. Your pendulum has swung from eating everything to eating nothing. While that allows you to have rapid weight loss, you didn't have surgery so that you could restrict yourself from life. You had surgery to live a happy, healthy, NORMAL life. Correct?
You need to really push yourself to try more foods. You need the nutritional benefits of veggies and your tummy muscle inside the sleeve needs the workout of digesting more than the few foods you've tried so far.
I know a woman who had GB and eats nothing but Protein shakes and Water. She has reached goal, but done major damage to her body. She frequently ends up in the ER with dehydration and malnutrition issues. Her skin looks like an old woman's skin and she's only 42. She has no muscle tone and no endurance for physical activity. It winded her to walk less than a block the last time I saw her...and she kept pleading for me to slow down.
Please work on this issue so that you can have a healthy, happy, rest of your life! (((Hugs)))

Friend, we all wish you the best on your continuing journey. I've found my experience to be just the opposite of yours, typically people are very supportive and have some wonderful ideas, you've seemed to run aground in a different situation. That's a pity, more for this site than for you.
Again, the best of luck friend, we all do wish you well.
EDIT: Please use the REPORT button on the bottom of each post to report anyone truly being an a$$, I know the admins will hop right on it and take care of the situation.
Also, please remember you just had major surgery, your body is injured and your diet has drastically changed, it's bound change you mentally at least a little and perhaps left you a tad touchy, perhaps you are overreacting a little? Please don't take some peoples fun and trying to bring a little levity into the day as being mean. If you can find the posts that you object to then use the report button and let the admins decide.
