My journey:

I've been overweight since I was a child but as I grew into a teenager the weight distributed well [thighs, breasts, butt] so I never really saw myself as fat. I easily maintained 170-180 pds with very little effort and was comfortable with that being my weight because I carried it well. I was diagnosed with depression when I was 14 and used food as my way to block out the constant pain and sadness I felt. I slowly started to pack on the pounds. I began seeing stretch marks where there were none before, my pants no longer fit and my stomach no longer flat. Like many of us I made the arguement in my head that it was okay to continue eating because I was already fat and a few pounds weren't going to be a big deal. Over the course of four years those few pounds became almost 100 putting me at my highest weight of 273 pounds. I couldn't stand to look at myself, I felt disgusted and ugly.
