  1. Thanks, everyone! The icing on the cake (if I can use that metaphor on this board) was my doctor's appointment three days after I returned home. I was afraid I had gained, but I actually lost two pounds I'd put on just before vacation. Gee...maybe I should go to Disney every couple of months!
  2. I just got back from a week in Disney World. For the past few years, I've had to rent a scooter to be able to get around the parks. It was a real lifesaver, but a hassle...getting it on the buses, etc. But now I'm 50 pounds lighter because of my lap band surgery. And this trip...I WALKED ALL AROUND DISNEY! Sorry for the "yelling", but I am just so darn excited. It was such a great feeling to be healthy enough to walk. In fact, my son told me to "slow down" at one point. I did rent a scooter on one day. It was rainy, and my left ankle (which I smashed a few years ago) felt painful. But the rental was not because I was too heavy to walk, so I'm okay with that. And even with the bad ankle I was able to park the scooter and walk around the countries and the pavilions at Epcot, instead of having to stay in my chair. This has to be one of my favorite NSVs!
  3. I'm in the same boat...banded in September, lost 50 pounds. But I've gotten lazy and I need to back to basics. I just returned to these boards today, because I need the support I find on them -- and the enthusiam of other lapbanders!.

Just Had To Share Strange Nsv

Thanks, everyone! Farmgirl04, my sympathies to your family down on the Jersey shore. The damage those communities suffered is heartbreaking. I have nothing to complain about, compared to so many people. I live on what would be the "spine" of Long Island -- neither north or south shore, so all we suffered was a little roof damage. It's hard to believe that so many of the beaches and towns I've visited are damaged or destroyed.
  5. This is a strange NSV, but I wanted to share it. I'm a Long Islander, and I was without power (and heat!) for 8 days following Hurricane Sandy. And for three days after my power came back on, we had my mother-in-law stay over because her power wasn't back yet. (She's nice, but I haven't told her about my surgery - she wouldn't understand.) Here's my victory: During that whole time, I managed to make good food choices and not go for comfort food. In the past, I would have binged on Mallowmars and Devil Dogs. In a situation where I previously would have crumbled, my band helped me stand firm. And today I got my reward: I'm down to 199!

    Terrible Gurgle

My stomach (the part below my band) growls a while after I eat. I never noted how long after -- probably 1/2 to one hour. Is this the "gurgling" or is that something else?

    Should I Do This???

The fact that you dreamed about it shows that it's been on your mind. Go to the seminar. And take your husband with you, if possible. The more your husband learns about the lapband, the better your chances are that he will be supportive, if you decide to go for it.

    Family Driving Me Crazy!

I was eating my soft foods (almost 4 weeks post-op) when my son and husband ordered Chinese food. I looked at my husband's plate and was amazed at the amount of food on it! I thought, "Wow - my plate used to look just like that!" I didn't say anything to him, though. (He's not heavy.) It's amazing how much food I used to eat.

What I Hate About The Band

I know this is going to sound a little weird, but... When my son was little, we had to give him Tylenol suppositories. If you're really feeling poorly (and I know first hand about both bad cramps and migraines!), maybe you should look into them. It would be better than putting up with the pain for hours.

    So This Is Bandster Hell!

Thanks to all. Soujourner, I've also started with projects to keep my mind off my hunger. Yesterday I cleaned out my son's closet and bureau. My next project is the linen closet. Once thing that gives me motivation is the knowledge that when i've hit this point in my pre lap-band life, I'd blow the diet. Just knowing I've had the surgery is giving me the strength to stay on track. i remember how much work I've already put in to changing my life, and that keeps me going to not screw it up now. I started using My Fitness Pal when I started my pre-op diet. It's great! I haven't added any friends yet...I'll have to do that.
  13. Today I'm two weeks post-op. I've had no trouble sticking to the food plan...no hunger pains at all. But yesterday, my appetite came roaring back with a vengence! I have no plans to fall off my eating plan, but...wow! Am I hungry! I guess this lasts at least until my first fill?
