    Enabling

Doesn't everyone?? I'm at about 30 this year but if I could count VST I'd be at way more than that!

    Enabling

So I'm really behind too. I can't seem to find anything on the new site but, yes Alex, I am having patience. Just want to say thanks to Laura for starting this thread. It has been extrememly thought provoking. And I'm glad I've at least found familiar faces again. I've missed y'all! Now, back to the banter that keeps me smiling...

    Call me <evil> but...

I'm ready to see my sister. I won't get to see her until Christmas and I honestly think that we should both be wearing helmet cams! She has been one of my main supporters in getting my sleeve and after seeing my success decided that she wanted one too! She had her sleeve done on 11/4/13 and is doing great! We haven't seen each other since July 4th and back then I was 30 pounds heavier and two pant sizes bigger than I am now. I have always been the big little sister and recently I lost down to weigh less than her but I'm thinking by Thanksgiving she will have caught me. Certainly by Christmas she will be well past me. I told her I wouldn't be the little little sister for long and I'm totally okay with that (I'm close to 6 inches taller than her so she should be smaller than me)! I can't wait to see her and see how well she has done. I am SOOOO excited for the both of us. My SIL on the other hand, I'm ready to see her too. I haven't seen her since our daughter was born (4 weeks before I had my sleeve). We live in the same town but haven't seen each other. She is absolutely gorgeous and I know that I'll never be as small as her, and I'm okay with that too, but at least maybe I won't get the "eeeew gross, shes so fat" looks that I feel like I have gotten for the past few years. I really am looking forward to seeing all of our family. We have several family members that live out of town and some of our family members have NEVER seen me this small.

CHEWING FOOD AND SPITTING IT OUT!

So I wasn't released to eat "whatever I wanted" until after 3 months, 3 MONTHS! Please dont give the advice to eat whatever you want just because your surgeon said you could. Each surgeon has a plan that they want their patients to follow because they have found that it works for them. My surgeon has been doing the sleeve for over 5 years and in that time has only had one patient who had a leak. He does what he does for very specific reasons. It is not okay to go off doing what you want so early out and expect things to be okay. Maybe they will be okay but maybe they won't be either. There are lots of suggestions on here for what we can eat and when we can eat it but the safest bet is to follow what your surgeon says. I'm almost 8 months out now and I'm still not supposed to eat grapes or grape tomatoes. He has his reasons and it is up to me to abide by his rules. If I don't and I screw my sleeve up it is no one's fault but my own. If you are eating whatever you want at two weeks out because your surgeon said you could and you end up with a leak or in serious pain, well I'd say that's his fault. This is just MY OPINION and it is worth exactly what it cost ya!

I Am Not A Lap Band Patient

I'm not sure if this is where this should be posted or not but this new forum says that I (Along with Butter) are lap band patients. I am not a lap band patient, I am a VSG patient. Anyone know how to change this?

Im at the jiggly belly stage. You?

So I'm not the only who who has a saggy booty now. I swear my butt looks like an 80 year old lady's butt, if you've ever payed any attention (I work in the medical field and have seen more than my fair share of naked old lady bottoms -- gross) then you know it all sags but for some reason all to the middle, so you have this little booty just hanging down with droopy skin all wrinkledy above it. I'm so not happy about my butt hence the 30 day squat challenge. I am impatient, I know it. I've only been at the squat challenge a week or so but I already want a cute round booty and it just aint there. I'm thinking I need a 90 day squat challenge....

    Drugs

I had morphine and dilaudid (I think, maybe it was demerol) for the first 24 hours then they added toradol which was a God send. The toradol did more for my pain than the other two combined. I had Zofran and Phenergan in the hospital but wasn't sent home with anything for it. The only nausea I had came from the pain meds, not from surgery or my newly small tummy. I was sent home with a PINT of liquid lortab which I took two partial doses of and then didn't need anymore (also I'm a "cheap drunk" and it doesn't take much of that crap to really mess me up). My sister had a sleeve on Monday and had similar pain meds but had oxycodone in the hospital as well. She is doing great and says other than the gas pain she doesn't even feel like she had surgery! Good luck to you, I hope you have as pain free of an experience as possible!

    November fitness challenge

It IS raining today! I need a recumbent bike for lunchtime for days like today. I don't work with a gym anywhere close enough to use one at lunch though. Guess that just means I'll have to stay on the elliptical twice as long tonight. I'm up to 19.6 miles MTD so far, I've done 553 squats (today is a rest day THANK GOD!!!), 120 incline pushups, and am up to a 45 sec plank.

    chugging water post op

I am a water chugger. I was before surgery and I still am. For the first two weeks after surger I was instructed to sip sip sip. And I did. When I went in for my two week post op visit I was told to stop sipping and start DRINKING. I mean drink large quantities at time and then walk away from it. (I don't really know the reasoning behind this, it's just was I was told by my surgeon to do). Anyway, I don't chug like I used to but I can drink a 16 oz bottle of water in 5-10 minutes depending on how thirsty I am. I probably can drink 4 oz at a time comfortably. Don't worry, sipping wont be forever!!!

    Best Sports Bras for Running?

I couldn't tell you what brand I use but I use two of whatever it is that I wear. Everytime I run or do any kind of exercise where I bounce I wear two. I'm afraid of black eyes if I don't...

How will you celebrate reaching your goal?

I'm totally with you. As I was reading through these my thought for celebrating goal was just to keep going every day. To keep up this life I'm learning to live and be successful at it. But now... maybe a nice tennis bracelet?? ha ha ha ha ha!

How will you celebrate reaching your goal?

Get it girl! This seriously just brought tears to my eyes! I'm with you on not having a firm goal. My goal for now is 150 but that's only because that will put me at a normal BMI. I've always been big, I don't ever remember not being big. There are so many things that I can do now that I could never have done before and I think your "doing something that is new possible" for your new decade is a fabulous idea!

    November fitness challenge

I'm up to 15.47 miles of 125 so far. I got started off a little slow but did just over 5 miles Sunday and almost 5 yesterday so I'm getting back with it! I also have been doing my 30 day plank and squat challenge. Last night, my blonde roots came through and I managed to double the number of squats I was supposed to do. That's right, I did 140 squats instead of just 70... by accident! But I was pretty impressed that I was able to do 140 squats!!! I'm feeling it today but it hurts so good Now off for my lunchtime walk!
  19. My sister is having her sleeve done as I type this! I am sooooooo excited for her and to have another member on the loser's bench!!! She not just my blood sister, now shes my sleeve sister and that is equally as exciting! We are so blessed!

Sitting at a stall and frustrated!

I usually will change things up for a few days if I'm stalled and I've been doing basically the same thing. I'll up my carbs for a couple of days then drop them back down, or I'll focus on increasing my protein to > 100 gm a day for a few days. Sometime it just takes me changing something up just a little for me to get the scale back moving again. It seems like I stall right at the cusp of the next set of 10's. I did it at 300, 250, 230, 220. Now I'm between 214 and 211.9. I haven't seen 210 since college but maybe even high school. I am so impatient for it! Keep at it, the stall will break. I stalled 3 times in the first 3 months and now I'm down a total of 120 pounds. It's no fun but it won't last forever.
