I'm kinda new around the site. I'm still working through my pre-op stuff. I was actually looking for an LGBT group, glad I scrolled all the way down here and found it. My partner and I are both getting the band late Sept. early Oct.

The bariatrician I had at my very first appointment was the rudest woman I've ever met in my life. She basically told me I would fail because I was 22, said I "already thought I knew everything", and that I would need to "prove myself" to her. The ironic thing is... she was FAT!!! LOL. Do your research, weigh the options, and don't let that person's comments get to you.

Most of the medical professionals that I spoke with prior to surgery recommended that I have the gastric bypass over the lap band surgery. They said that most people who had the lap band surgery are not successfull. It seemed that I was always defending my choice to have the lap band over another WLS. I had done my research and I knew that I didn't want anything as drastic as the gastric bypass, I also knew that I did not want to be off from work 6-8 weeks. Most importantly I knew that the success of what ever surgery that I decided upon it would all depend on me and how committed that I was in losing weight.

Oh I'd be livid, and I'd definitely let your surgeon know what happened so he/she doesn't refer other patients to either of those idiots.

Liquid diets are usually pretty low in calories. The key is to get a lot of Protein in, which will help you stay fuller longer. Making sure to drink a lot of Water will also help

Many people (myself included) didn't eat 3-5 meals before the preop.if u were a "one meal and snack on junk all day"person and now ur eating all these scheduled meals, ur body just may be adjusting and holding on cuz it's not used to it.I'd suggest giving it a few more days until ur body realizes that this is the new way of eating .im sure u will start to drop lbs.

That bloating feeling lasts a while it seems. I have surgery 5/10 and my first fill 6/7. I'm down like 13 pounds and been walking and hitting the gym. This week I start swimming again....love it!
