    My Sleeve Story 1-9-12

My bariatric surgery program required at least two visits with a therapist to complete a psyche evaluation. It was my choice to continue the sessions. With a few exceptions I have seen her weekly since April 2011. She has helped me deal with so many issues, including my addiction to food, low self esteem, etc. I will continue to see her post surgery. I doubt I would be successcul without this counselling. Hope that helps.

    My Sleeve Story 1-9-12

I was sleeved on May 17, 2012. I have had complications that resulted in an 8 night hospital stay rather than the planned 2 nigbt stay. I am still having problems getting down full liquids and water, as it backs up at a narrow place in my sleeve and sometimes takes hour(s) to move through. I've been back at the hospital 3 times for IV fluids due to dehydration, and have had 2 endoscopys to stretch a narrow area of my sleeve. I have been told I will probably need at least 2 more endoscopys for the same purpose. I am unable to advance my diet beyond full liquids. I lost 62 pounds in prep for surgery and have lost 28 pounds since surgery. I have had times when I worried that this was a big mistake, but in the end I'm still glad I did this. I only wish I had dealt with my weight before I ruined my health with multiple co- mobidities. I also highly recommend therapy /counseling. I worked with a therapist for a year before I was ready for surgery. So hang on ladies and have faith that it gets better and that this decision will be the best thing you ever did. When I get down I come to this site and read about everyones success and their advice that it will get better in time.

    Just Sleeved.

sorry I messed up and didn't finish prev. post. Any way, on Friday chest tube placed and now no plan for when I could go home. About Sun or Mon found I had a doozie of a UTI. Then asthma kicked in and awake all.night fighting to breathe. Re introduced clear liquids which didn't work resulting in an awake night of pain. At some point needed a couple units of blood as blood count dropped Had another leak test on Thusday. Liquid went thru after backing up for a few minutes. Finally a happy ending?? Full liquids on Friday, and sent me home. I tried to stay positive and confidant but had some bad moments. I am working hard to get in fluids and full liquids. There is no way that will happen right away. Just so glad to be home and hoping to start feeling better each day. I believe I had excellent care and am not regretting the decision to get sleeved. In spite of loosing 54 pounds pre surgery and doing every thing I was asked to do, still had multiple complications. I'm ready now to start my new life. Tired and battered and glad to have the surgery behind me but ready for all the positive changes ahead. Sorry so long winded and for probably not making much sense but glad you are out there and that we can support each other.

Had my surgery on May 17, 2012. They had an extremely difficult time entubating me which apparently causes a lot of trauma to throat, airway. lungs? Had a terriible first night, awake all night and coughing guck all night. I was sceduled to vo home on Saturday if the leak/swallow test went well.nd had to stop the test as the fluid wouldn't go through, and they found I had a partially collapsed lung, requiring a chest tube.be placed. Worst procedure I have ever experienced. They couldn't sedate me and only used a local anezthetic. Complete nightmare!

How About Gastric Sleeve People From Nh Or Vt

NH SLEEVER My surgery is tomorrow at DHMC (Dr. Laycock). Nervous and so excited to start the next stage of this life changing journey.
  8. A scarier what if would be...what if you let your fears get the best of you and miss this opportunity to change your life. Just reading about so many success stories, and that most people had the same fears before surgery have helped me get past those fears. My surgery is this Thursday and although I know it wont be easy, I KNOW I am going to be successful. Like my user name says, this is my last chance, and I refuse to let myself mess it up. I sure hope you can get past your fears and that you will have great success.

    May 15Th...anyone Else?

My surgery is Thursday, May 17. Won't know the time till between 6:00 & 8:00 pm Wednesday night. I am a little nervous, but comfortable with this decision. I've lost 51 pounds in preparation for this, in hopes it would make the surgery go easier. Also makes the pre-op diet easier as its kind of close to what I've been eating for several months. Good luck to all my fellow may sleevers. Looking forward to heari.g of everyones progress. I so appreciate all the support from everyone hear.

    May 17 Surgery Date.

After 3 years in and out of the process my sleeve surgery is a week from today. I have lost 44 pounds in the past 6 mos. (Needed to prove to me that I could stick to a food plan for more than 1 - 2 mos. as I was terrified of failing at this. I've been on pre-op diet for one week and have lost 4 more pounds. I am having a wild range of feelings, from excited, nervous, happy, scared. confidant but mostly relieved this is finally going to happen. I have been enjoyi.g readi.g in the forums and have learned alot and had many of my questions answered. Thank you all. You've helped me more than you know. I can do this with support from my family and friends and all of you, my new friends.
