    Holy Hell!

I personally have only had great experiences with my surgeon. I always do it standing and he hits it the first time every time. I have heard of people having issues if they carry a lot of weight in their abdomen...it makes a larger amount of space between the area that your port is attached and the surface of your skin. I think it will definitely get better as you lose weight.

    Woot Woot Crossed Legs

That is awesome!!! I remember the first time I could really cross my legs...it was the BEST!!! Great job!!
  5. I agree with Toddy. You do feel full faster(not stuffed by any means) BUT it will not do anything for head hunger. Head hunger is what sabotages our dieting in a lot of cases. Tell us we're hungry when our body doesn't need food. That you have to tackle on your own.

    When Were You Ready?

Wow, this is a really great question...I started looking into Lapband years ago but was always convinced I could just "do it on my own." Well after fighting with infertility for 7 years, trying everything I could to try and lose weight, getting to the point that I could no longer do all the active things I loved to do (long hikes, ride roller coasters, camping, riding ATV's, etc) Plus, although I was in pretty good health considering my weight (no hypertension, heart disease) but I knew that wasn't going to be the case forever. I knew it was time to look into it again. I knew I needed another tool in my arsenal. This time I was really ready, emotionally and physically, and don't regret it for a second.

    Scrambled Eggs

Yeah, I don't have an issue with scrambled eggs or "over-easy" eggs...hard boiled on the other hand are definite no goes!! GL!!

    Bread

I personally cannot eat bread now that I'm in the green zone (unless it is well toasted.) Personally not a huge thing for me. I still have sandwiches using Mission brand low carb wraps...much easier to eat for me.

    Everybodies Pregnant But Me

Oh, man...I'm glad I stumbled onto this thread!! My hubby and I have been TTC for 7 years. Getting healthy to try to improve our chances was also my main reason for choosing to have WLS. I try to stay positive but some days it is SOOOOO HARD!!! Ugh...hopefully we all catch a break!! lol

Does Our Age Make A Difference?

My doc said that younger patients do quite well but it is because they are likely to be able to work out more. You cannot rely on your age to help the weight "fall off". It is still going to require commitment, good food choices and work. I'm in my 20's and have had great results with lapband BUT I also have been putting in the work.

    Trouble Foods?...

I agree, we all have different things that give us issues and as you get tighter your list will change. I can definitely not eat bread, soft pizza crust, some pasta, hard boiled eggs, dry chicken, over cooked steak or al dente broccoli. Most of the things I can't eat are things my doc wants me to avoid anyway (starches) so it just serves to help me stick to my diet!! lol

First Fill And I Went Down

Anything that causes us to feel stressed can cause what is called a Vasovagal reaction.. "Vasovagal reaction: A reflex of the involuntary nervous system that causes the heart to slow down (bradycardia) and that, at the same time, affects the nerves to the blood vessels in the legs permitting those vessels to dilate (widen). As a result the heart puts out less blood, the blood pressure drops, and what blood is circulating tends to go into the legs rather than to the head. The brain is deprived of oxygen and the faintingepisode occurs. The vasovagal reaction is also called a vasovagal attack. The resultant fainting is synonymous with situational syncope, vasovagal syncope, vasodepressor syncope, and Gower syndrome which is named for Sir William Richard Gower (1845-1915), a famous English neurologist. See also: Syncope." Same thing that happens when someone passes out when they get a shot or blood draw.

    Melons

I personally only have issues if I try to eat it too fast. GL!!
  19. My insurance didn't require any information from my PCP and my surgeon handles his own pre-operative clearance (after getting cardiac, pulmonology and psych clearance). So hopefully that won't hold you up!! If I may ask, why is your PCP against you having this surgery?

    Is This True?

I have had some hair loss BUT I also have PCOS and hypothyroidism, which can both cause hair loss. My doctor advises that you make sure to get all necessary protein and take your vitamins.
