  1. You look fantastic!!! Congratulations, that is a huge accomplishment! Great inspiration for the rest of us

    Does This Sound Ok???

I ate most of those foods on my "puree" stage. I have weird consistency issues eg, OJ with pulp, yogurt with fruit bits etc. I'm not saying my decision was the right decision you should always check with your surgeon. I looked in to other people's post op diets and figured I'd be relativly safe with a puree/soft food diet. i've been fine.

Said Good Bye To The 300's

    Congratulations!! What an accomplishment!!
  5. Don't beat yourself up, you are SO not alone! There are so many varied pre and psot op plans that a one-off oopsie shouln't be the end of the world. My surgeon told my husband (when I was in recovery) that the post-op diet is mainly mental. The first Remember you are treating yourself to a brand new you . I cheated. I sucked on a soggey french fry 8 days post off (so sad). Yesterday I had a nibble of a piece of rosemary chicken. Remember, each day you get through is one day to being closer to being able to eat solids again. Tomorrow I start mushies, and in 1 weeks SOLIDS. You will get there!

    DON'T Have Band Surgery If....

    Great post!!
  7. I had a hernia reparied and I think it took a little bit longer to recover but I am only 12 days post op and I feel about 95%. For some reason I can't sleep and it's driving me bonkers!

    Tattoo

If its above the ankle bone on the fleshier area it shouldn't be too bad. If its lower down towards the bone or on the top of the foot it can be very sore. Generally, the fleshier the area, the less the pain. Its worth it (for me anyway). The worst part I find is the outline, after that the rest is a walk in the park. A great forever gift to yourself

    Tattoo

Agree with everyone else here. Depends on where you are getting it. As Sombra said (and I love your tatt by the way!) they are addictive lol. I have 2 now, the second twice the size of the first and I have a few more already planned. Anywhere you aren't going to change shape a whole lot should be fine (Shoulder, back, ankle etc.). Good luck!

    Emotional Regret

Oh my goodness, thank you SO much for starting this thread! I have one more day of liquids then on to mushies but 2 days ago I had a total melt down. Hubby was eatting BBQ burgers while I was eatting my stupid Soup and I totally flipped. I starting crying and stormed away like a 2 year old. In my head I was like, "What the hell are you doing" but at the same time I was thinking the same as "Icandothisforme" - sleep with the BBQ A****le! lol! Poor hubby. To top it off whenever I whine he says, "You did this to yourself, you ewanted this surgery". He's right but right now it makes me so stupid mad!! The good news is I'm so exctied for mashed potatos it's ridiculous lol.
  11. My doctor said to take them off day 7 but not to pull at them if they are stuck. Mine came off easily, the worst part was pulling it off the little hairs/peach fuzz on my my belly!
  12. Everyone seems to have such varied pre-op diets so I'm curious about if everyone's post-op diets are as equally varied. What was/is your pre-op diet? I had: Day of surgery: Water only 5 days Clear Liquids 7 days full liquids(Currently on day 1) 6 days mushy foods Then solid food.

    Post Op Day 7

I'm 6 days post op and I have experienced the same thing. My surgeon called me yesterday and said it is very normal to be experiencing hunger at this point and to just stay strong. Are you on a liquid diet?

    Alcohol And The Band?

Not great for the diet but I sure am planning on having a drink or two every now and then! Stay away from anything carbonated but my clinic said it was fine after I've recovered.
  15. Can't wait to shower and get these bandages off tonight!!

  16. Oh fun question! My friend and I were banded a month apart and we set some fun mini goal rewards. The 1st is to go to Canada's Wonderland next summer if we are both below 200 and the other is to get our belly buttons pierced (not that I'd ever show anyone lol). I think when I hit goal I'm going to have to have a ladies night. Go out and get new clothes, dress up, and hit the town with my bffs. I'm smiling just thinking about it...
  17. I didn't stay overnight but I wore home very loose yoga pants and a baggy shirt. Today I'm wearing a loose sundress. Anything that's not tight in the tummy area that is comfortable should be good I'd also recommend bringing a pillow to put between your tummy and the seatbelt for the drive home. Hope that helps. Good luck!!
  18. Hey Texas! Hope everything went okay for you today! I had my surgery today too. A little gas pain in my back, next, and shoulders but its not too bad. I've gone for 3 walks around the block. The worse pain I had so far was when I fell asleep for 4hrs and then I tried to get up. I though I wasn't going to be able to get help lol. If tomorrow feels as good as today I will be very happy!
  19. Had my surgery this morning! It went really well, went for a walk around the block a few minutes ago. They found a hiatal hernia when they repaired too which is good. I hace 3 incisions, don't know how long they are though. My post op diet is just Water today, 5 days Clear Liquids,5 days full Fluid, 8 days of mushies. My husband so so wonderful and supportive of me today which meant the world to me. Time now to rest and watcha movie!

    TT complete! (Pics)

    Wow you look amazing! Congrats!
  23. Your topic made me suddenly feel a lot less alone I went through the exact same problem. I booked my first consult and he was very upset with me. He also thinks I should be able to do it naturally. Just join a gym, just eat healther. He also says I should just be comfortable in my own skin, he doesn't understand it is about so much more than that, especially my health. I went to the consult anyway. I spent over a month trying to get him on my side and it wasn't happening. I told him I was just going to go ahead and book it and I don't ask him to agree I just ask him to support me in my weight loss and recovery. I told my Mum who is very supportive of me and I told my best friend who is banded and then just went and booked it. I came home and told him what I had done. He was REALLY upset at first. I try not to bring it up with him too much, I stick to talking about it with the people who are excited for me. He's come a long way though. At first he said he wouldn't take me to the surgery, now he's booked the day off of work and is gettin up at 4:30am TOMORROW MORNING to take me. I made him read all the paper work and watch all the videos the clinic provided. My amazing friend came over Tuesday night to wish me luck and debated him on a couple of areas he was still worried/upset about. She showed him how well sh was doing and let him feel her port and such which I think really helped. My only advice is to do what is best for YOU and the rest will fall in to place. Look to the people who do support you for guidence and keep reminding your husband it's not just for looks, its for health. It's for your children (if you have/want any in the future), it's so you can live the life you want to live. Give him lots of information, make him read the studies, the success stories, and the possible risks. If you can get him to, have him go to the seminar. My husband is a math and statisics guy, I found research studies and articles in medical journals. He's probably just scared for you. They hear the words 'surgery' and they think it's some horribly invasive procedure where you could come out mutilated or even dead. Only you can decide what is right for you and the people we love will all come around in the end. The rest don't matter.
  24. I'm lucky actually, I'm from about an hour and a half north of Toronto. I'm a local. That's a long trip for you!
  25. I'm being banded in Toronto too! I only had a 10 day pre-op diet but my friend who was banded in May had 21 days too. I'm glad I only had 10 days, long enough!! My surgeon said the duration on pre-op is based on your BMI. Good luck on your journies!!
