I had my third fill today. I had using my scale and it was showing that I did not lose weight. I got to the doctor's office and found out that I am finally below the 300 mark...I am do happy. I am going to stop using my scale and just take my weigh ins. I am so happy!

I agree with everbody's comments. Be patient and throw the scale out the window. What's wonderful is going into your closet and trying on stuff you didn't ever think you would wear again. It's an awesome feeling.

You go girl!! You look great. I've lost 50 lbs and have another 50 lbs to go. I looked at some pictures that where taken this week end and man what a difference. In group pictures I used to stand on the back row. Now I'm front and center and excited to see them.
Good luck on the rest of your journey.

My doctor said it was OK after a month. He reminded me though not to forget the empty calories and everything low carb. I find beer to be to filling. I drink flavored vodka with crystal light pure. Have to be careful as it taste like punch and has snuck up on me.

I have to say I do agree with the others. I'm assuming you are self pay. Not sure if your Doctor has had you consult with a psyhcologist. I know it is required for us to do this before we can have surgery. It is also required by the insurance companys that pay for it. Maybe if you talk to some you may be able to sort this out.
I sure most everyone on this post has lost and gained weight a thousand times. If we where as fortunate as you and had willpower then we wouldn't be having this conversation today.
Start living like you have already been banded. 3 meals aday, no more than a cup of food with each meal and no drinking for an hour. After you are banded if you don't chew very well and eat very slow, let me tell you that discomfort is no fun.
I would think long and hard and do your research. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. But since you have money if you don't like it you can have it taken out. Right!!

    janleefran,
I didn't mean to sound rude but, You probably won't get a lot of sympathy on this site. FYI....you will probably regret posting. I have a feeling this will be answered by many people. But good luck anyway.

    Hello Everybody!!
I'm new to this site and was wondering if there are any breast cancer survivors out their? I was overweight, had high blood and high cholesrtol. You think that would have been enough to get my butt in gear and lose weight. But NOOOOO!! But after I was diagnosed with the ultimate c word, I was scared. I'm very fortunate I found it early but it didn't spare me from a mastectomy and chemo. One day I looked in the mirror at my bald head, lopsided boobs and a hugh body and I said enough is enough. Through bad things good thing come. I can say now I'm happier in life than I every been and the only person standing in my way of a healthy life is me.
At 54 for being overweight I felt pretty good. But now at 55 and have been through treatment I feel OLD and TIRED!!! I certainly hope after weight loss that energy I used to have will be back.
Just interested in your experences or challenges. Oh Yeah, I was cancer free at surgery 18 months ago and it's been 14 months since my last treatment. WooHoo!!!!

Are any of these people smokers? My next door neighbor would say the same thing just diet and excersie. She smokes. I ask her from this minute on don't pick up another cigarette ever. She looked at me like I 2 heads. She got after me again saying bad things she heard about the band. I brought to her attention again the horrors of smoking. Have you seen the anti-smoking commercials? I just told her I'll take my chances. Smoking is a bad habit just like overeatting.

Hi. I am new to this forum. I went with my dad to a WL seminar in January to support him. Going to the meeting and hearing other people's lifelong weight battles really did something to me. I found out my insurance would cover the surgery and from that moment I was hooked, lined and sinkered. I began the process in January. I went to a nutritionist and had a psych eval. I also had to have an upper Gi test done. I was jumping through all the hoops I had to. I was scheduled for surgery on July 17th at 9:30am. I had to have pre op testing the day before. I had bloodwork, an EKG, a pregnancy test. They sent me home with a special soap to use 3 times before surgery. My husband got me to the hospital at 7:30am. They took me right back to pre op and had me change into a hospital gown and hooked me up to an IV. The anathesiologist came and told me that they were going to put me to sleep and put the band and the port in and then wake me up. The doctors and nurses at memorial hospital were great. My surgeon, Dr. John Deperi came in and asked me if I needed anything. He explained that the procedure would be less than an hour and that I wouldn't remember much. The last thing I remember is them asking my name. I woke up in the recovery room and the surgeon asked me if I was ok. I said my stomach hurts and he called he nurse over to give me some pain meds. My chest was hurting the most and they told me that it was from the gas they used and that lasted about a day. Getting up and walking around alleviated some of it. I was released the same day. I haven't slept much because it still hurts a lot. I'm glad I finally did it and I'm looking forward to my new life.

Your welcome Jean.....I think this an additional tool needed to get through this. Even better it was written by someone that's been there done that. I think I was pretty well informed before but I was still a little anxious. There is so much to this process and I think I feel much better going into this now. Better get me some highlighters like carolinagirl.
    Thanks so much!!

I saw this on YouTube but was wondering from you guys: Ham or turkey roll ups with fat free cream cheese for a good source of Protein? Some people cut them in to pinwheels and I think some recipes call or chives??? A gastric bypass patient friend on Facebook of mine mentioned to look out for sodium content in the meat which is good to look out for but I was just trying to change up my menu and trying to get protein in. help.

10 years last month!! It has been on my mind so much lately that I can't focus on much of anything else. I am now 54, and I must say that I do have more energy with the lost weight. Years of my doc telling me to lose weight really didn't sink in, one day he casually said "You know that one of the side effects of obesity is cancer?". That was all I needed to start seriously looking at WLS. It's been 3 years and I only wish I had done it earlier. Right now I am not following the rules and paying the price. scale is going in the wrong direction, I am one who really doesn't have true restriction so I have to stay on top of things. I don't get hungry so my problem is usually due to liquid overflow (coffee creamer). I wasn't hungry befor surgery, I was a mindless eater and now a mindless drinker. I was listing surgeries the other day and was shocked by how many I've had. The breast reconstruction was 12 hours and I am so glad it was an option. No I'm not even, and the scars are unreal; I even managed to burn my fake nipple off with a heating pad. Oh well. I am reasonably healthy, very much happier and I dang sure look better
