    First Fill

I was told same as honk so if you were stick to it, it will help you heal better. I always had munchies at night but only was letting myself indulge occasionally. Now that I'm not feeling hungry (4 fills for me) that has gone away so don't give up hope. I'm really only eating 3 times a day now like they told me Best of luck to you!

    Tummy Pain

Actually I was thinking it could still be gas. I thought I was over mine after the first few days but when I asked about a pain I kept having even a week later they told that was gas too. It will get better... good luck! Also could be just from them moving around in there and stretching things, bugging things etc. It does get better I promise.

    Am I Different

I can still eat just about anything I'd want (unless it's bready like pizza) but I'm not letting myself. Sometimes I see that I haven't done well that week and the scale reflects that. Every time I've followed the plan perfectly (no Water with meals, 1 cup of food or less, Protein and veggies, etc.) then I've seen my weight reflect that. It's enough of a motivator that I've been *mostly* good. Doesn't mean I don't still love my loves (chips for me) but also not having much hunger has helped... do you feel like you're in the green zone? It's easier to make good choices for me now that I'm not hungry much. One thing I've told myself, if I do it all right then I can have a treat at the end of the day if I'm still hungry. I've probably indulged too often but honestly? I don't usually want that treat later. It's working okay for me. Someone above said 90 good, 10 whatever... I've been more like 80/20 but am going to kick it up to 90/10 so I can lose better. You can do this!!

    Should I Get A Fill?

I have had 4 fills, am at 4.5 ccs in my band. I feel things are perfect. Not yet seeing the weight loss as fast as I want but still on track according to the dr. I'm going to sit here for as long as I can. I have had a couple stuck episodes but only because of my own stupidity. I haven't yet had a throwing up or pb episode and my goal is to stay that way. Since I don't feel much hunger (until after several hours and even then it's manageable) I feel like this is a good way to stay. IMO don't get a fill until you feel like you can't handle what you've got anymore. Sounds like you're in a very good place
  7. That's too high for me personally but I'd love to join you in the challenge. My goal is 8 pounds a month but if I can even get half of that I'm considering it a success... I've started comparing myself to the tortoise in the race - slow and steady wins. What other details about your challenge can you share?

    Undecided

I will just say that I think being banded is the best decision I ever made for myself. (Well other than picking the hubby I did, or did he pick me?) I was tired of yo-yoing, tired of the fat, tired of just about everything but also scared. If your insurance is paying for it I say do it. I did self pay and had a lot of time to think about it while I was saving. The first few days I kept thinking what the jack did I do but that ended quickly and now I see changes in myself (my attitude, my weight, my life) that I've been trying for more than 10 years to achieve. I have done weight watchers 4 separate times and was *perfect* all times and still didn't see the weight loss that I've already achieved in just a few short months. My band IS a tool, not a magic fix, but it gave me some control and it's helping me and I'll never regret it. You can be a success story too. As for adjustments, I was banded end of June, saw the dr. a few days later, and then for the first two months was seen every two weeks (my decision - wanted to get to the green zone as quickly as possible.) I'm there now (I think anyway) and so now I can come and go as I please but plan to be seen once a month for weigh in and make sure I'm still on track. You could take it slower if you wanted but might be a harder for you... Best of luck in whatever you decide.

    Disappointed In Myself

The nice thing is you already have the band. Just start now doing the things you didn't do before, like going to see your dr. I am going to support groups that are sometimes dumb but still help keep me on track so look for something like that... just because you didn't get there before doesn't mean you can't get there now. You can. Start tracking calories, start eating again like you're banded (1 cup of food, not drinking at meals, etc.) and so on. You can do this!!

    Extreme Workouts

I did crossfit for about a year before being banded. Hardest thing I've ever done. I took off two full months after the band, mostly out of fear. Back to it and I'm amazed at how much difference the little bit of weight I've lost has made. For one thing it was way easier to get back to it than it was when I first started (well the soreness was there for two weeks again but I could actually do some of the exercises even after a two month break where in the beginning I couldn't). I am really looking forward to the coming months and my workouts getting better and easier and my being stronger actually showing up as I lose more weight. We can do ANYTHING. I'm convinced of it. And don't be afraid to modify until you can do it like they tell you - that's one of the things I love best about CrossFit.

    Couch To 5K Anyone?

I am not a runner but want to learn to be. I have a child I'm worried about learning my bad habits and she wants to win a race at school (next year) so I told her we could look into this. I don't have a smart phone or know how to use apps but anyone have an idea how to get started on this? I've heard the term before and would really like to try it... congrats to those finding success!

    So Sad And Depressed!

Sorry left out the part where I didn't feel this way until my most recent fill and it was like magic... it will happen for you too.

    Is This Normal Or Okay?

Bandster hell is miserable but it does get better. Obeying your dr's orders is the best thing you can do for yourself no matter how hard it is. You can do this!! Best of luck to you.

    So Sad And Depressed!

Your post actually makes me feel better! I was banded on the 29th and am down 25 lbs. Sounds like we are all about in the same place. I have 4.5 ccs in my band and have had 4 or 5 fills. I *could* eat almost anything but don't. I really do feel full after a cup or less than that of food. I can now go hours and hours without thinking about food. Today I noticed it was 3 pm and all I'd had was my protein shake in the am. I don't think I'll get filled for a long time but I also know I have to be more strict about exercise (get in about 3 days a week, 5 is my goal) and also count calories if I want more to come. Also I talked to my dr. when I got filled last week about feeling depressed as you said - they reminded me I picked the band over bypass for a reason... slower really is better and I'll have less loose skin, keep it off longer, etc. if I do it this way. It's hard I know but try not to get discouraged. Even at this pace I could still lose 100 lbs in a year. And even if I don't? I'm way better off than I was 3 months ago... Hang in there.

    Green Zone?

I am pretty sure I've finally hit the green zone - as the above poster, I can go hours and hours without thinking about food or feeling hungry. It's NEVER been like that in my life for me. I have had 4 or 5 fills (I forgot to write down so not certain) and have 4.5 ccs in my band. However, my one question about it is that I haven't lost all that much. I hit a plateau and stayed there more than a month. Since this last fill and feeling GREAT finally, I did finally lose some weight but my overall is way less than I'd thought/hoped at this far out. I will give it a few more weeks before saying for sure one way or the other but I feel good so I think this is it. I'm afraid any more of a fill I'd have trouble keeping anything down. I'm good with a cup or less of food.

    Final Countdown

I'll keep you in my thoughts too. Recovery for me was pretty awful but not for long so remember that it goes by fast if you feel awful and if you don't YAY!! This journey is well worth it. Best of luck to you and see you on the other side!
  17. I also think it depends on where you carry your fat. I "look" fatter than most anyone I know because I carry it all around my waist, the whole spare tire thing. I think there is a very good change I will always have flap there because even if I lose it, it's been stretched out so far it will never be the same as it was. But I have really tiny wrists and ankles, as small as my sisters who weigh only 98 pounds (we used to all look similar although I've always been the biggest/tallest). So as per your question, I think I'll have a body I can live with and be glad about but I'm never going to look like a supermodel. My idea of the "perfect" body is one that I can keep until old age, can run around after my kids, can sit without being uncomfortable, run and not be weary, etc. but my idea will NEVER be what Hollywood's idea is. Even if I had the money for plastic surgery, I wouldn't do it. To each his own?

    Walking...

Way to go!! I've never loved exercise, still don't but I am finding that the more I do it and regularly, the better my mood especially on the days that I'm feeling down. Keep up the good work

    Can Anyone Handle Steak?

Granted I don't have the restriction yet that I want (3.5 ccs in my band) but I can still eat steak. As others have said I have to cut it really small and I have realized that it is pretty heavy meaning I can't even eat a whole cup of it but I have had it a couple of times since being banded. It's kinda nice that I can make it last 3 meals .

    Week In Review With Questions

Not sure what to tell you on the dress size thing other than I bet it will all work out. Don't cheat, just don't because you're only cheating yourself. Having said that, don't beat yourself up because you can't change it either. Just keep trying harder. I was banded June 29th and have gone done a dress size and a bra size even though I've only lost 20 lbs so I'm sure you won't be the same dress size next spring. Good luck on your surgery!!

I Want To Get A Fill Now!

Mine had me wait 5 weeks before my first for my stomach to heal. I have not had a single episode of throwing up and I am glad that he was slow with me... being filled doesn't fix everything and I'm even a few months out and still haven't gotten the restriction I'm hoping for but I know it will come. This next part is hard but don't rush it, take it slow and learn to make the changes you need for your whole life. It will come soon enough. Hang in there.

    I Did It!!!

    Best of luck to you!!
  23. I am glad for the advice too - I am currently at 3.5 ccs and still get hungry quite often and have had 4 fills. I have felt very discouraged in the last month because my weight has stayed the same. I have gotten better in the last few weeks about being sure to keep to a cup of food and also exercising regularly so my spirits are better and I know the weight loss will come. It's good to know that I'm going through "normal" stuff...
  24. I didn't tell anyone but dh for awhile. Eventually told my dad and step mom and then one sister. So far that's it and I'm glad I've kept it small but only because I can't stand the endless asking that will come with it. I have been discouraged lately but things are getting better... it's just so personal so good luck in what you decide.
