When I was contemplating having the lap band surgery, the first thing I did was to began researching who would do the surgery. Afer doing research I came up with the doctor that I wanted to do my lap band surgery. People were complaining about his bed side manner, etc. but I wasn't looking for a buddy, but the one who would be the best surgeon. As it turned out his bed side manner was fine You want to make sure when you put your life in someone hands that they are qualified in what they are doing. God bless you and I wish you the best!!!

The same thing happened to me....and I just had an unfill on yesterday. Talk to your doctor...and hope it gets better.

My Doctor leaves the needle in and then tells me to drink normally as if I were at home...he then ask how did it go down....then he will take some of the Water out and ask how did it go down...he will then but some in and asked how was it this time. That way he can tell if I can actually tell the difference with the amount that he needs to put in for the fill....and he can place an accurate amount in.

Most of the medical professionals that I spoke with prior to surgery recommended that I have the gastric bypass over the lap band surgery. They said that most people who had the lap band surgery are not successfull. It seemed that I was always defending my choice to have the lap band over another WLS. I had done my research and I knew that I didn't want anything as drastic as the gastric bypass, I also knew that I did not want to be off from work 6-8 weeks. Most importantly I knew that the success of what ever surgery that I decided upon it would all depend on me and how committed that I was in losing weight.

I had my first fill 4 weeks after surgery, I am not scheduled for another fill until 3 months later. I have no restriction, it appears that I can eat what ever I want with no problem. I limit the amount of food by will power but I'm sure I could eat much more if I allowed myself to. I am going to call the doctor and advise them of this. My fill was on May 21, 2012 and I'm scheduled to return until August 21, 2012.

I know exactly how you feel, I actually posted something similar to this not to long ago.
I began to feel as if I were letting them down when my weight loss would be the same as it was when they had asked how much I had loss previously. Sometimes I wish people didn't know, because it is difficult enough for you to deal with how the weight is coming off without having to see peoples disappointment when it is not coming off as fast as they expected. But someone told me that you got banded for yourself and no one else, and a weight loss of 29 lbs is awesome and don't your forget it.

I'm going in for my second fill appointment tomorrow morning 1/9. I didn't get a fill at my first appointment because I was losing about 3-4 lbs per week. In the past 4 weeks i've only lost 7 pounds, that's 1.75 per week, I guess that's good. The surgeon told me to expect only 1-2lbs per week. I'm hoping to get a fill this week. I can eat at least a cup of food at each serving and I plan little Snacks in between. I'm staying at or under my 1,000 calorie a day limit they have set. I stopped excercising since the weather has been bad.
Thanks for the advice on what to eat before a fill. My appointment is at 9am, so I think I'll just drink 1/2 a Protein shake at 7am. I have no idea what to expect as far as a post fill diet... I don't even know how many CC's are in my band.
I don't feel like my Surgeon was very thorough at my first appointment, he didn't even check out my scars or my port, he just saw how much weight i was losing, asked if I was excercising and if I was happy with the band so far. That was it... I'm hoping he's less rushed this time. I want him to check it out.
My surgery clinic mainly only does Bypass. I was only the 8th Band. They save it for special circumstances they don't give you the option... so I feel like I have to fight for more attention since i'm not the norm I guess.

That was such a wonderful post eyewonder, I felt exactly as you did. I will have to admit that I was nervous even after I had prayed and turned it over to God, but I know that we are human and its ok to be nervous. But I know that if I didn't do something that my health would be in jeopardy. I know that I am going to give this my best shot because if not then what else is there left for us to do. I think thats a wise decision to wait until June 21, 2012. I will be two week post op tomorrow and I feel that it has taken me at least 7-10 days to get back to my normal self. My incisions are still sore. I wish you must success with your upcoming surgery -
