sym38 got a reaction from WhoozisAnyway in No Longer Hot? Omg This Is Awesome!
I hope this happens to me!! I have the EXACT same problem, from the scalp, and people look at me like I'm about to have a heart attack and ask me if I'm ok. It's the most embarrassing thing ever and I hate it. Just the thought of this surgery helping the sweating issue gives me such hope! I'll let you know if this NSV shows up in my life! Thanks for sharing!!

Fish and meatballs sound good to me. I am guessing you are eating with the family? How about doing something to make it special for yourself? Maybe make sure you're eating off a small plate with a smaller fork. I bought some pretty little china plates on which to eat my meals. I also got myself some small pretty glasses for juices, etc. I bought them from Goodwill, so very inexpensive, and I feel like I'm "dining" rather than just "eating".
Treat yourself well and you will feel better. This is especially important during the recovery process. I even drink my Protein shakes out of real glass rather than from the cups provided with the magic bullet. I deserve it! You do too!!!
Making meals an event will, hopefully, help you cope with the reduced capacity, but will also make you feel better about yourself.

I wouldn't be so quick to go back to old favorite food haunts. This is a time to really change the way that you eat -- not just the quanity of food, but the quality. An occasional "treat" is fine, but fast food and PF Changs shouldn't be part of your regular diet.
Not to be finger-waggy... but I know that the first few months post-op for me were critical in totally rethinking and restructuring my relationship with food.
But to answer your question, you can probably eat there once you are cleared for regular foods. For now, Soups would probably be OK - just watch out for whole tough veggies that might hurt your sleeve.

I bounce like Tigger. Yesterday, 171.8. This morning 173. With no changes, cheats, etc. Every time I go below 172, I bounce. But every time I get back below 172, it's a bit lower. I just see it as the body fighting for all it's worth to keep my weight stable. And, no matter what charts say, I must be getting close to a normal weight for me. I'm giving myself until next December to get to goal, which is the 155 - 160 range. I hope I can get that low.

Tomorrow will be 6 weeks since my surgery. Don't talk yourself out of it! You will be so glad after you go through with it. The surgery and recovery weren't near as bad as I expected them to be. The worst thing for me was the gas - it was severe after first waking up, but after walking and sleeping, it was gone! The first few days are an adjustment, and then it is a piece of cake. We will be with you every step of the way. This time tomorrow night, it will be over and the beginning of your journey will be here! You can do it!! Private message me if you have anxiety and I will talk you through it! I will be sending good thoughts your way, and I'm anxious for you to post and let us know how great you are doing!! Good Luck!!

sym38 got a reaction from Ms skinniness in How Long Till I Can Drive
My doctor gave me the go ahead on driving at my one week post op appointment for short trips. He said there was no danger in driving, except maybe long distances, because the anesthesia would be in my system for a while and may cause sleepiness on a longer trip. I didn't have any trouble. Good luck!

The whole reason behind me having this surgery was because of the USCG wanting to pull my license. Well I have lost 67 pounds according to my doctors charts in 11 weeks pre/post op combined. I only have 32 pounds more to go to meet their requirements. It feels great to know that they can bugger off. I guess I am getting an early feeling of anxiousness. Its just around the corner lol. Just wanted to share have a great day!!!
