  1. Hi all..I havent posted in a while but have been lurking. My surgery got postponed to June 28th and I am so disappointed. Its all I can do not to go on an Ice cream Binge!!I still have about 20 lbs that he wants me to lose because I have such a high BMI. I can understand it and am grateful that he is going to do my surgery at all. I hope that the next month will fly and ill be just like the rest of you..wondering how fast that it will seem normal again...LOL Congrats to everyone that has had their banding done. It seems like most of you all have had about as bad a time with it as I expected, which is a relief..sorta. Just hoping that I don't get all wimpy. I will continue to lurk here and also in the June forums. Again, congrats you all..you are all doing so well just keep it up!! We didn't gain all this weight over night so we cant expect it all go be gone over night!! You are all in my prayers!! Stay well my band buds.

Deb, this is merely a speed bump in the road to success. Above all, you want the best scenario for surgery and he may be trying to get your liver in shape so that you are at lower risk of complications. That itself will make the delay well worth it. Keep your chin up- you are going in the right direction and everyday is one day closer.

  2. Hey, hey, hey! Guess who got banded today. ;) I had to be at the hospital at 6 am. Remember it being 9:45 am before the anesthesia kicked my butt and was out of there by 1:45 pm. Quick and not in too much pain. I've been walking around the house with a nap in between.

Glad to hear you are doing well! It will get better everyday .

  3. Well, I am on Day 11 post-op and I feel pretty normal. That cranky gas pain is finally gone, but my appetite came back with a vengeance. I can eat bigger bites of normal foods in a shorter amount of time every day it seems. It's almost like nothing ever changed. But I have got to rise above this and stay on plan. My first challenge will be a Memorial Day BBQ tonight. May the force be with me. Might have to get on Lap Band Talk from my I pad. I am so ready for restriction!

  4. I was banded this past Tues. I did great girls!! Do not worry, you will do fine! I have no majoe gas pains, I am amazed! I just got home yesterday & feel great, just sore where the incisions are, but thats to be expected. Good luck to both of you!

So glad to hear you did well!

  5. I'm being banded tomorrow as well @ 10am. I'm excited but also nervous about the procedure. I,ve read books, looked at YouTube videos of people sucess stories, and I've browsed this sit on numerous occasions and I still have many questions like you. I guess I'll just follow my doctors instructions and quit over thinking everything. Good luck to you and hopefully we can be banded buddies throughout this journey...

Good luck to you! I'm sure you will do great!

  6. Hell, I would even pray for yellow zone right now.

LOL. Too funny. I am day 8 post-op and boy did my appetite totally return. I can eat normal bites now and about a cup of food. I totally understand. I try to look at all of this as phases: 2 wks of pre-op diet phase, then surgery was a phase, and bandster hell will be a phase too. I helps me to focus because it will all be temporary till I get restriction.

Same theory that some coaches use, like basketball- let's not focus our attention on the score right now or the outcome of the game at the end- for the next 4 minutes focus only on rebounding, etc and the rest will come. Same with weight loss. Use your energy to focus on the things you can control TODAY.

  7. What a bummer! Mother's Day was 1 day before my surgery and I could only have Clear Liquids. I actually signed up for a 12 hr shift at work on that Sunday and I was glad I did. I would have been stir crazy at home. I also went to a Pampered Chef party while I was on shakes only and did not eat anything, which was very hard! Best advice I can give is keep busy and stay focused on the prize. Just think what you will look like next Memorial Day at the beach. This will be a distant memory and sooooo worth it!

  8. It s called a liver retractor. I too watched the actual surgery on YouTube and I was glad I did. There was so much talk about the liver that I told my husband to ask the surgeon how my liver looked- was it fatty, etc. He actually took a picture of it for me and one of the Lap Band in place and it looked just like I thought it would. I think the others are right in that the pre-op diet is there to increase the safety of the surgery. Yes, it was hard to stay on it, but I did because what could be any more of motivator than decreasing your risk of surgery?

  9. May bandsters - How much time (if any) did you take off work? I'm getting banded on 5/30, which is next Wednesday (yikes!), and I'm considering going back to work on the Monday after. I mainly sit at a desk - minimal walking.

I was banded on a Monday and went back to a desk job on Thursday and I was fine.
