Check out this site: exercise4weightloss.com and then click on restaurants. It is geared toward weight watchers but it is a fabulous site for restaurant nutritional facts in one place. I always consult it on my iPad before ordering.

Saw the doc this am for 2 wk postoperative visit. I was down 22 lbs from the preop visit 4 wks ago and down 9 lbs since surgery. I really wanted a fill but he says 1 month out in order to be fully healed. So, bandster hell for at least 2 more weeks. I've come this far. Can't screw up now.

Awesome! Good for you!

My port is in the same place yours is. I was banded recently by Dr. Spaw in the same group with your doc. They must like to put the port there for some reason. I'm going to ask him at my appt today. I agree with the folks that suggested leg exercIses to work the lower abs first. My husband and I are going to enlist a personal trainer as soon as I recover a little more and this is one of the first things I'm going to ask about. I'll let you know what the trainer says.

Best of luck to you. It will be easier than you think.

I with all of you some days I feel like I can eat just as much as before but I've noticed tht if I try to eat more than my band will allow I get that stuck feeling...I go for my first post op appt 2ma morning I don't knw if I'll get a fill but I'm thinking I will. Hoping tht my surgeon doesn't talk too bad to me
Why would he talk bad to you? You have accomplished a lot to get this far.

Yay! Met my 10% goal at weigh-in last night. I was so excited. 31 pounds lost in under 2 months!

That's great. Way to go.

Yes, That was true for me. On about post op day 9 or 10, I could get in the 64oz daily Water requirement pretty easily. I can do 80oz now, which is what I was doing prior to surgery. I don't have a fill at all though, so I suspect that will change some when I do.

Awesome! Way to go!

My incisions itched for awhile. I'm now on mushy food, my swelling has gone down and I have discovered that I no longer have to drink slowly, I think I can eat anything with little restriction, although I have not tried anything. But yesterday ate much more than I should be able. Right now fell like I don't have a band at all. First fill is on June 25th, gotta be careful.
I'm totally with you- feels like nothing has happened at all now. Bandster hell is not fun! My 1st follow up appt is Thursday the 31st- I'm going to ask if he will give me even a little fill since I have nothing at all, but he may wait til 4 wks post-op.

That is great! Congratulations.

Yay for you!

Hi everyone:)
I got my 3rd fill today after work.
I already had 5cc in my band and no restriction. My Doc decided to put another 2.5 in and I could not swallow water! I was so surprised, it was great to finally feel the band work! Lol
To this point I swear it felt like I never had the surgery and have lost my 20 lbs with pure will power. Anyways, we decided 2.5 was a lil much and he took out 0.5. He thinks this one should do the trick!! I sure hope that 3x is the charm!!!!
When was your surgery? I am so anxious to get my first fill- I am running on pure willpower right now!

Has anyone else's incisions been itching like crazy!!!! OMG
Now that I have read this they are really itching now...

I go for my follow up tomm. But wanted to know if anyone had the same. I still can't get up or sit down without pain. And I can not eat all the liquids suggested .
Day 6 or 7 was my worst days, fortunately better days were right around the corner. I still cannot sleep reaaly comfortably on my left side. I called the doc also and was told it was just gas pains.

Wow! Great story. Thanks for being an inspiration to others.

My surgery is tomorrow, 5/30. Sooooo nervous. I'm really dreading getting an IV and getting wheeled back there. I hate that part.
You will do great. It will be over with so quickly. The anesthesiologist put in my IV and he numbed it up first, maybe you could ask them to do that for you also.

Welcome! The liquid diet to me was harder than post-op, but I kept focusing on the fact it is temporary and it too will pass. You will get to eat again. This will all be worth it in the end. I looked at a lot of success stories while I was on pre-op and that helped me. I also stayed out of the kitchen.

Welcome! It's is great place. You will always find someone who is going through what you are going through.

It is only temporary. You have come to far!!!! Keep the faith.
How Many Fills Did It Take You To Get To The "sweet Spot?"
in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

So, I'm going for my first fill on June 14th, which cannot come soon enough. Right now I have nothing in my band. My doc states most people need at least 3 fills to start feeling restriction and he does them 1 month apart. I was curious as to why because obviously you get to some point of restriction when you are having a fill, then he says that will not last. He says the fat around the band lessens, thus making the band loose again, and this process is different for everyone. He showed me a pic of my band up close showing this. So my question to all is how many fills did you have before you hit the "sweet spot?"
