LadyMaggie reacted to susancwalker2008 in I've hit a hard Plateu!!
Hey Guys. I am so happy to say that since February I have lost my first 50 lbs, no 49, no 47, no 50. Well close enough. Well since school has been out, I have continued exercising and following my lapband rules. I am in the green zone and that is great. Buts the scale is no longer moving. Its been about 4-5 weeks with up and down the same 2 pounds. Seriously people, I was so excited to be in a 12-14 by August and now I know that is not going to happen. I eat about 1000 calories per day. What are some tips you guys have to get things moving again. I would be great to average 1 pound a week at this rate. At least it would be something. Thanks for your help!!

Is it not bad enough that I'm losing hair like crazy but now I'm losing eye lashes as well. I've uped my Protein, even added a Protein Shake to my diet, I take Biotin, I'm just at a loss. 1 yr and 1 month post op.

Pre band I used to sleep-eat. Seriously! Mostly chips and popcorn. My son took a picture of me 1x. Ridiculous!!! Now I don't eat after 7pm no matter what. Only crunchy Snacks in the house are in my son's bedroom.

LadyMaggie reacted to Brittanie in issues with #2
Ill keep this as clean as possible. Has anyone had issues with going #2? I was banded Jan 8th and by the second day I was in so much pain I was close to going to the ER. Several bottles of Water with Miralax, 2 enemas and some 'soul searching' to release the impact in my bowels I was much better. 6 months later...same situation. Except now im on vacation and don't have access to all the other things. I did some 'soul searching' this morning and this evening and finally got relief. This time was different because I had some blood as I relieved myself. What are you taking (daily or otherwise) to prevent hard and near impossible to pass stool? When I fly back tomorrow im going to make an appointment with the dr about the blood in the stool part.

LadyMaggie reacted to Chanel in I have been banded for 6 years..ugh..
I have been banded for 6 years and so disappointed. I've had numerous fills and thought I had reached a "sweet spot"...My doctor doesn't really care here in Ventura, they have even somehow lost all my records (so upsetting)..but they've moved to a big, fancy office so obviously the money talks but caring for patients as individuals is not there. My lapband at one point was so restricted, kept having reflux and being stuck all the time, no matter how slowly I chewed...did all the things I was suppose to do. I am so tired of my lap band. In the beginning I was so excited but it is a huge disappointment. Going out with friends and family was always so embarrassing, due to feelings of being stuck and my chest making funny noises. There is no such thing as a sweet spot...take my word for it. Last time I went to the office they charged $300.00 to talk to me and remove a little saline..unbelievable!! I just feel so upset by this whole procedure. They keep saying it's a tool, well it is not even a tool, it just disrupts your whole life and revolves around this "tool" plus you don't lose the weigh. And get this, the nurse says to me...perhaps this isn't for you and we can look into other surgeries..no way!!! So you can make more money. I have talked to 7 other people that have had the lap band, they too are so disappointed. Be careful!! Take that money for the surgery and instead invest in a good pair of walking shoes, buy healthy foods, lots of big salads with balsamic vinegarette, lean meats and fruits..just be careful!! My recommendation...DON'T DO THE LAP BAND!!! Take care of yourself.

After reading several posts about the same topic (Protein Powder), I have decided it is an acquired taste. What one person loves, another does not.
For example, I could not tolerate Bariatric Advantage Protein Powder. I tried three different flavors and wasted a lot of money. The one I do like (and, again, others may not) is the UNflavored powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. I add it to my morning O.J. or yogurt. For shakes, I use the Dole Shakers (fruit flavored) and add the Unjury Protein.< /p>
Keep experimenting and hopefully you will find one that works. I, myself, am a protein snob ---> so I completely understand your frustration

It's so subjective. I love Unjury! It's the only non-flavored powder I can't taste. I love the chicken Soup, too. It's great for when you need that extra 21 grams of Protein and can't stand anymore sweet drinks.< /p>

Unjury comes in containers, not bags. And its the best protien on the market. Its the only one i trust, and its the only one i will use.

Try the Unjury unflavored in orange juice...can't taste it or even detect it...that's the only way I get all my Protein in....I agree it's nasty in yogurt, milk and flavored waters....

I like the unjury vanilla, don't care for the chocolate and the strawberry is slightly too sweet for me. Different strokes and all
I did start using my husband's Optimum Nutrition strawberry whey and it is pretty tasty in Water with a splash of lime juice.

Tastes for Proteins vary so much , I liked the Unjury and couldn't taste the whey very much, I NEVER like the vanillas , you just have to find one you like I guess

I think it may be a per person acquired taste thing because I have only used Unjury in all flavors for my pre-op and now my post op (okay the chicken soup BLAHHHH) But I like the way they taste and mix in my milk Water coffee and yogurt I ran out of unflavored and had to go get some from GNC which is there version it actually isn't bad either!

    1. ONLY use a surgeon who will use fluoroscopy, to see, instead of guessing.

Agree 100%!! My hair loss really caught me off guard and freaked me out, but happily it has mostly grown back (but given me natural layers). Nothing I did prevented or helped it. I think it's just a natural process that you have to ride out. I think I easily lost half of my hair, but no one ever noticed. You won't lose it all though, so no worries there.

I started at 318 and now I am 238 as of today. It's been a struggle as you already know. not many people understand what we go through. I have read all if your posts and I know exactly where you have been and where you are going! I want to be at 199 or less in 6 months so hopefully if I strive hard for it I will fulfill my goal!

I totally agree but over-promises from the bariatric medical industry can be partially blamed.imo
I don't recall much advice or guidance on how difficult this could be and the glossy videos and seminars certainly make it look like a cake-walk?
I think I went into this thinking the weight would fall off and I'd feel satisfied with less food from the git-go. Fortunately I'm not afraid of hard work so I'm one of the lucky ones?
Brad's post should be tattooed on every new patient wannabe?
