I am addicted to SUGAR and CARBS . . . I think I could snort pixie sticks just for a sugar rush!
The experts says everyone has at least one addiction --->mine is SUGAR

I have been doing a lot of research; it seems that their is a recent publication by The Journal of the American Medical Association ("JAMA") discouraging lap band surgery, but is in favor of the "sleeve".
I've read the article several times, but still didn't really agree with their stance.
My lap band DID slip in May 2016 and I had to have a "revision" surgery to put my lap band back in place. Honestly, I don't have any regrets about the surgery and I would certainly do it again.
Good luck to you "newbies" ***smiles***

I have been banded for 10 years and I believe it is the safer alternative than any other surgery. I did not want my body rerouted or changed from what was normal. I know of a person who had the sleeve and was told that even with that surgery, over the years your stomach can stretch again. It all comes down to self-control and learning new eating habits.

I am thrilled to see that there are people being banded like me and are starting this new adventure. I was worried that everybody is jumping on the new bandwagon of doing outrageous things to their body to lose weight instead of just trying a non-invasive way like the band.

I plan to keep my band until the grave; obviously, if it was a medical necessity, I would have it removed.
I guess you can call me a "lifer".

I also appreciate the updates over the years from B52; I have followed his posts since I had my lap band surgery in April 2012. I wish him good luck on the next phase of his life without the band.

What was it about yesterday?? I had a hard one too… Our office has been doing potlucks every day this last week-- luckily I traveled on mon/ tues half days, so I was only really tempted on wed/ Thursday-- and I made it through Wed with flying colors. But then comes Thursday when one of my coworkers put a smuckers crustless pbj snack pack on my desk 1st thing in the morning—after I told her not to repeatedly the previous day-- she's a nice woman, means well, but I wish she had just not-- I put it in my lunch bag "away." But then kept thinking about it -- finally gave in and ate the 210 cal monstrosity and was not satisfied at all-- I had to remove some of my better and planned Snacks to compensate for those empty calories. Still the indulgence left me craving sliders the rest of the day, and I was mad at myself...Then I go to Fitmill class after work, which is this circuit low impact HIIT format where we have this fill in instructor who is pregnant… there I struggled through the whole class….all the ladies under 200lbs seemed to breeze through the class and I started to tear-up during abs thinking "How did I let myself backslide so far! I mean I was there I WAS IN ONEDERLAND!!" I could have caught it earlier, why did I let myself not care about my health- yes there were miscarriages, but I knew rationally those weren't my fault, and the doctors confirmed they could not be prevented, but that should have made me more focused on being healthy, not less, I knew it would make our future chances better not worse-- why did I go back to feeling worthless?!? Why did I punish myself in my grief? I knew better, I know better...ugh! I realize that I was already having a hard food day and beating myself up over that… and that having the class instructor announce her pregnancy probably hit me in a tender place when I was already feeling low… I can honestly say that I don’t begrudge successful pregnancies and I don’t start blubbering uncontrollably when I see or hold babies, I just pray that next time we will be the lucky ones, because this type of loss is hard, it was hard the first time and it feels compounded the second time. Logically I know as time goes by it will be less raw….logically…Anyway I made it through class, ate a healthy dinner of salmon to compensate more, although I was way over my carbs at 157 grams, my total calories came in at 1728, my net calories consumed came in at 1042 and I'm still here today….. Normally I try to be more uplifting and keep a positive outlook… Yesterday was hard… thanks for allowing me someplace to be honest and candid…

Mariela, you also have to keep in mind that as you are working out, you may be losing fat and gaining muscle, and of course muscle weighs more than fat, so that could also be the reason for the increase in the scale. Just continue doing what you are doing; I know that circle of doom all too well myself, but I've been attempting to stay away from the carby stuff and go more for the real food; fresh fruits, veggies, and Protein. I haven't budged a pound yet, but I'm sticking to it. We are all here for each other. We have all been in this abusive relationship with food for way too long, and we've all gone through a major surgery to change our way with that relationship to undo it now.

Hello everyone! Here is my lap-band story...I got banded on 8/2014 SW:369, I am now almost 3 years out and weigh 335lbs. Clearly I failed my lap-band. I try not to be hard on myself but its almost impossible not to be. Post-op I had 2 pregnancies (1 of which was a demise) So needless to say my weight was up and down, at my lowest I went down to 312lbs. I recently had a baby boy 12/2016 highest prepartum weight was 345lbs, I came down to 335lbs postpartum, had a fill on 5/3/2017- initially I went down 6lbs and now I'm back up! I am not a victim here..I know my eating habits play a major role. There are days where I am your regular Jillian Michaels and others where I'm eating like a 15 y/o boy going through a serious growth spurt.
Nonetheless, I feel defeated. I am scheduled to have another fill on 6/5/2017, but called my surgeon and asked for a VSG consult instead. I am lost, confuse..torn all of the above. Part of me feels like I just need to get back on track and remain consistent..the other part of me feels the band is just not enough for me and the amount of weight I need to lose. Help! I could really use some advice. Thank you in advance!

I didn't tell anyone but my children and husband. I tell people I have issues with my hernia or esophagus if they make a comment about how or what I am eating.
It's worked for me for almost 5 years.
    Good Luck

My lap band surgeon gave me the impression that the lap band is made out of silicon (plastic), and that the silicon will be a part of your body forever. He said there were no indications that the silicon itself will fail over a certain time period. He told me that the silicon would outlive me. Of course, if there are issues with the band, slippage, etc., this would change the picture. If women have breast implants, aren't they silicon too? I've wondered if they last forever. That's a strange comparison but all I could think of .
    Good luck in your journey.

I couldn't sleep for three days in anticipation of my first fill after surgery. I HATE needles and I have NO tolerance for pain. I have an excellent surgeon and I never really feel the needle or have pain. It is more like pressure. If I can do it, ANYONE can **smiles**
