Talk to the Consultant in the wedding shop they can tell you the best time to shop and how long alterations may take.

I started out a 407 also, wearing a 36/38. I am now going into a size 24 and it feels so great. I am excited that I can shop at Lane Bryant again, I HATED shopping at Catherines at 30 years old. Good Luck to you.

I am 13 months out and down 125lbs. Stalls and small gains happen often. I still weigh myself each week, I have noticed that when I stall my body is readjusting and I will drop a clothes size. And then have a sigificant loss after 2 or 3 weeks. Don't get discouraged the weight will come off.

I hit 1 year March 21, this surgery is the best thing i have ever done for myself. I have lost about 126lbs, I have 60-80lbs left, and am still losing. I freaked out the whole week before surgery but I have never had a moment of regret.

I am so happy to be wearing size 30 jeans! I shortened my bra straps today, too! I am so glad to have turned around and be losing weight! I was 407 and afraid I wouldn't be able to buy clothing anywhere if I gained any more weight. I weighed 390 when I was sleeved Jan 14 and have lost another 31 lbs in 3 weeks. Today I put on an old pair of size 30 jeans from deep in my closet and was so thrilled!
People often talk about how happy they are to no longer be dependent on stores like Lane Bryant but it has been a few years since I could shop there and I am actually excited to be able to again. Hopefully I'll be in a 28 before too long and able to wear their clothes soon. I was pretty much relegated to the Ulla Popken website before this because I love beautiful clothes and they were the only outlet I'd found with sizes up to 36/38 and decent quality. I hate the crappy clothes at WomanWithin, besides the name sounds like you have to shop there because you ate someone. Catherines clothing has weird fit issues and is geared towards women in their 60's. When they started closing Fashion Bug stores, I was really bummed, but soon I will be able to shop many places. Once you are in a 24 or less you can shop at LL Bean, Lands End, Eddie Bauer, Macys, even Nordstrom. I CANNOT WAIT!!

For me, I couldn't write a letter like that. I went into this procedure with my eyes wide open but optimistic.
I have 8 year old twin girls. I was completely transparent with them, but age appropriate. I explained the procedure to them and what affect that would have after the surgery. I reassured them that I'd be alright, because that's my job.
I guess I could get killed at work, in a plane, crossing the street. I've seen people die at the dentist after a reaction to something they were given. Actually I've seen people die in lots of strange ways, but that's another story.
I'd hate them to read a letter later and think 'he was worried enough to write a letter, so why did he do it'. They know I love them with all my heart, because I tell them every day.
Long story short - the best policy with kids is to be age appropriate and honest.
My thoughts. Good luck with the way you go.

My daughter was 12 when I had my surgery. I talked to her about my surgery from the very beginning (but I told, everyone). I told her if she had any question on concerns to ask me. I did make sure to tell her I loved her, and it was her choice on weather she wanted to see me in the hospital. She understood everything and asked lots of questions. She came to visit the day of surgery to make sure I was ok and she came to pick me up. She also acted like a little nurse and wanted to make sure I didn't get cold or need Water or anything the first few days home. I also explained that I would be cooking a lot differently and not buy as much junk food. She now likes to exercise with me and is glad that we are eating healthy.

Squisha got a reaction from Nicki13 in walking..isnt it hard already?
anything counts. in the hospital I started off just going to the end of the hall. My doctor had me push a wheelchair for balance and in case I need to rest or be pushed back to my room. By the second day I was able to make it from 1 end of the hall and back again. When I got home I walked to the end of my court and back (my grandmother was out walking me). Now 115lbs lighter I walk 2-2.5 miles, and have started adding small bits of jogging. It gets easier and even if you are just getting up to go to the bathroom it is getting the blood moving.

Sometimes it is hard to remember. I will put food on my plate and think that is not enough, and add more and then I will stand there for a minute and think about it and realize there is NO Way I could eat that much food. I usually put most of the extra i added back and even then I don't always finish. I am still amazed sometime of how little it takes to fill me up now.

I am a picky eater about alot of thing. Still am 9months post op. I found a Protein Drink that I like. Not a fan of boiled eggs but I like a scrambled egg with a little bit of low fat cheese. I used to like cottage cheese but now it taste salty. But I like to snack on low fat string cheese. There are alot of options to choose from that are still low fat and high Protein

Interesting. As a woman who has lost basically the weight of a whole woman.. I feel stronger now. I can run, I can move, I am in shape - I am woman, hear me roar....lol
when I was heavy I felt vulnerable because I just didn't have enough fitness to feel self confident about anything physical. A fall meant going SPLAT etc.
Even so, I can understand what you are saying, I have just experienced it almost opposite.

i use the 'cupcake meals' from www.emilybites.com because they are already portioned out, and they taste great.
other than that, my NUT showed me a few neat tricks, such as a 'serving' of meat is no more that the size of a deck of cards.
after a while, you will get used to how 'big' your portions should be, and you will know how much is too much before you put it in your mouth.
