OMG October 2013 Post-ops

The thing about this surgery rach, is that it is not a race. You have lost weight, and that in itself is such an amazing accomplishment. Hang in there, it will come off! Even if you only lost 6 lbs per month that's still 72 lbs per year. I don't know about you, but I have gained ever year except this last one. Another thing I like about this surgery is that all of our bodies are different, why should our weight loss be the same. I personally am losing weight in the exact reverse I gained it. So I am grateful. I have lost more than you have, not much, but I cherish every pound I have as this is a pound I will never get back, assuming I have Control over that hehe. You have every right to feel the way you do, and it can be upsetting when you do not make your goals, especially since that seems to be a story we all can relate to. Please remember, we are here for you, and you belong here with us always! We will all face a challenge where we need help. HUGS!

Sleevers over 300lbs?

Sorry it has been so long, it has taken me forever to figure out the android app for this site. Now I was able to find it today. I had RNY again Oct 31st, and was 282 lbs. A few months before that I worked my but off to try and lose as much as possible before surgery. My highest was 333 lbs. Today I am 241 lbs. So I still have 105 lbs to go, I am very happy with my progress!
3. Was wondering if anyone had restless leg syndrome before surgery? Did it get better after surgery?!? I am desperate to have these legs get better.
4. Hello all. As you guessed , that is my height and weight. I am waiting to hear back regarding my wls consultation and wanted to know how someone is similar shoes is doing? Tough parameters and the chances are slim but it is easier for me to relate to. Love all the stories and info from anyone in general. You are all such an inspiration!!

That is a great idea! I never even thought of protein bars!! Protein Shakes are harder, I am ok with unjury, but cannot stomach them each day. I hate drinking protein, SO I will have to get a bit more creative. My new years resolution! I am so grateful to everyone here, ???? (that is a heart in case it come up weird) Also to add to the other great photos, I am 2 months out tomorrow (halloween surgery) I am down a total of 88lbs. 50 prior to surgery, and 38 in 2 months. I cannot complain at that!

OMG October 2013 Post-ops

I was wondering. I seem to be having some complications post op, and was wondering if others are experiencing the same? I have had a UTI for 2 months now, and two rounds of antibiotics. I also now have a bad yeast infection in my mouth and you know where due to antibiotics. I have a kidney infect due to the UTI, and am now having gall bladder attacks. I am so tired of this, I am regretting my choice, however I feel the surgery only helped to get these comlkications, and not necessarily caused them directly . I mean my weight loss of 50 lbs before surgery could have led to gall bladder problems...... or I guess I needed to vent on that stuff, and after babbling I realized WHAT I really wanted to say hehehe. What are different ways you get your Protein in. I cannot stomach shakes and I need to get in 90g of protein per day. I try to get shakes in, but my stomach feels ill afterwards. Wow I am being whiney today lol. I think my answer is to buck up and quit whining lol. I do after all want to be successful lol Thanks for the rant . You are all awesome! I tried ranting on a race book page and there was no support only judgemental people. I don't need that right now hehe.

OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful holiday! We are so full of temptation this time of year, but the most important thing to remember (according to my theory of success ) is that it is ok to give into temptation. It is ok to have a piece if chocolate, candy, cake or whatever, as long as you enjoy it in moderation. Yes you want to succeed, but as all of our diets have shown us in the past, deprivation is a only going to make you fall off the wagon and regain. Happy holidays and salutations, go ahead, enjoy living, life and all it has to bring. Hugs

Brain fog

It does get better as you are able to consume more foods. Hang in there.
10. AutumnPunkin

Brain fog

Yup. I am 7 weeks out and am still fuzzy. It is a side effect of ketosis. My dietician told me that she has had patients so fogged they were not allowed to drive. I had to leave the hospital early at work because I could not safely care for my patient due to brain fog. Fortunately for me I had a few days to get more nutrition. My dietician said to avoid excessive brain fog I bead to eat no less than 50 carbs per day, and no less than 100g of carbs on days I am at work nursing.

I don't also miss the sweets, but I agree, I miss bread. Yesterday I made some toast, of which I am allowed, but I know my tummy will not tolerate it. So I made toast as I was saying, chewed it up and spat it out. Ok gross, I know, but I wanted the crunch so bad and I am so sick of all foods. At least it was satisfactory as I didn't have to vomit.

Calf pain

So far there are no manifestations of DVT or compartment syndrome. My only thoughts are that I may be developing rhabdomyolysis. I have not seen my doctor yet, I speak with him tomorrow.

Calf pain

Js anyone experience calf pain bilaterally? I find my muscles hurt. I will be speaking to my doctor tomorrow but I think my muscles are being broken down. Anyone else experience this?

Any Regrets?

I am new out still, am 6 weeks out. I regret it every day. I am so tired, and all food makes me ill. But, I am not sure yet f I would actually want to get it reversed. I know it will get better. So regrets, right now yes, but I am not sure I would regret it a year from now Sorry if this made no sense, I have been in a fog and am clumsy and not at all with it.

OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Wow, spent the last four weeks doing 12 hour shifts in nursing. I am beat. I am so ready for a break to come. Tomorrow is my last day. I even asked my instructor to not allow me to do meds today because ketosis is really affecting my brain. I don't believe I am safe to administer medications. Does anyone else find it so hard to get food in? I am getting 5-7 glasses of Water a day, but only about 40g of Protein and less than 50 carbs. I know I need to drink more Protein shakes, I am being a bad patient. Maybe I need to just plug my nice and sip the drinks. How I miss guzzling yucky stuff. I seem to be so much pickier with food now that I am post op. I find if the food is not great tasting I am not willing to chew on it forever, so I do not let it touch my tongue....... Wow I am a baby lol!! I hope to not get slammed, I am just struggling. Mentally I know what to do, easy. But doing it and having to feel yucky in the stomach after each bite is not something I look forward to, I admit. I miss all the action these boards used to get I hope everyone is well. Hugs

Finally found premier Protein in canada. I have heard it is really good. I hope so!! I am so sick of unjury protein! Had my meeting with my nut today, went well, but I am not wait enough carbs or protein. I cannot have less than 50 carbs in a day, and no less than 100 when I am nursing. This is going to be so difficult to do! Apparently that is the reason I have been fainting. Down 26lbs in one month, and overall 76lbs since the beginning of my serious weight loss!! Yay, still have 116lbs to go.
19. What do you add your unflavored protein to?
20. AutumnPunkin

What To Do With Unflavored Protein

I use unjury unflavored Protein. From unjury.com. I have used it in my Soups to make it creamier, but am not sure what else to add it too lol! But even in chicken Soup I cannot taste the protein, but I can smell it. But my taste buds are pickier than my sniffer haha

OMG October 2013 Post-ops

How did thanksgiving go? Ours in canada was back before my surgery, but I hope it went well for you all!! I am a month out today, lost 24lbs in the first 3 weeks and have been stalled for a week (well no weight loss stall, still losing a little bit in inches). I am struggling with getting fluids in. I am up to 5-7cups now, but my urine is still "dehydrated". I am also only getting in about 40-50g of Protein, so I really need to focus on that this week. I am hoping my stall ends soon. It is so amazing the head games it plays with you!! My kidneys are still not acting very good, so I need to see my doctor tomorrow about some more antibiotics. I hope they get better soon, this flank pain hurts. I was also wondering, do you ever get hungry? I am never hungry and eating is so difficult. Every meal is a force. Do you force yourself to eat?

100+ To Loose

So amazing!! Way to go!

100+ To Loose

I am now 4 weeks post op, and have lost 24lbs. I am hoping to lose another 25 lbs before the new year, as that would be 100lbs lost overall, but hey, so far so good. I was so excited as I am fitting into size 1x and x. Was 4x when I started at 333! Have about 120 more pounds to lose.

Any October surgeries out there...

Wow, this is such a learning experience! I had my 2 week appointment with my doc yesterday, which was actually 18 days post op. I have lost 22lbs, which I thought was great, but my doc says it is too fast and I need to eat more calories. At the moment, I am eating between 150-350 calories. He also says I need to eat more each meal. Normally I eat around 1/4c-1/3c depending on the meal. He wants me to get up to at least 600 cal, protein of course, and 3/4c -1c of food. So tonight I had a 1/2c of chili (homemade, high protein). It took me about 60 min to eat it. Now I feel so locate and over-stuffed. And he wants me to do this 6 times a day. Eugh! I hate eating lol. So after tonight I am dismissing what my surgeon says and going back to following my nutritionist lol. He specializes in surgery, she specializes in food. Hahaha. Missing your updates October!

Restless Leg Syndrome

I am taking Iron, and being post op, iron is.... Well lacking hahahaha. Some days are better than others for the RLS. I always found sleeping on my stomach always helped. I should try to get my iron up to good levels. I am not low, and am in the normal range, but on the lower end. Perhaps it is something we ( my doctor and I) can work on. It is really worth trying! Thank you! <3
