    Just finished dinner. Today not too hard... walked 2 miles without any problems, passed up the birthday cake, and its 6:45 pm. I do have a nagging voice asking me what I will do when I need to eat pudding later watching TV! (naughty little voice!) So the answer is... TOMORROW dear, tomorrow.

    Today wasn't too bad. I did feel really hungry around 1pm today but drank some Water and it passed. Today was my two a day so I burned over 1000 calories today doing my morning and evening exercise and only consumed 600 cals for the day(I went over today, was hungry but made it a good Protein choice!!!) congrats to all who made it through day 2 of reduced calorie eating! Lets try it again next week!!

    First of all, there is alot of talk on the web about how sprinters have a certain physique and marathoners have a different physique and everyone wants the sprinter physique. But the question is, do they have that physique because they sprint, or are they world class sprinters because of their body type? Same with marathoners. You don't win the Boston Marathon because you were born with an offensive lineman's body but you ran and ran until you were skinny and stringy. Those world class marathoners had that body type naturally, and they enhanced it through training. Same with all world class athletes.
    Through out time, many people have gotten incredibly lean by doing a boat load of cardio and eating lots of carbs. And others have become just as lean through strength training, a modest amount of HIIT and very low carbs. There is obviously more than one way to do it. The only thing that is certain is that you can build and maintain more muscle with resistance training than with cardio, but muscle loss and fat loss are dependent on many factors such as diet and individual body type/chemistry, not just the type of exercise.

    I am with you Laura-Ven!! My evening snacking is hard to cut, nighttime is my witching hour too. That started way before I had the surgery!!! I did great today so far though. I ate eggs for breakfast(140), fish and a little bit of chicken(160) for lunch and dinner is chicken and veggies(200). Thought this would be a lot harder for me, but every time I started wanting to eat without thinking I just remembered that this is for 1 day and I can do is. It was also great to know i wasn't alone with this today and i wanted to be accountable to the group for actually following the plan. It does feel good to exercise some self control lol. I also went for a 4 mile run this morning and feel great only eating so few calories today!!! I will be done eating by 7pm and then nothing for 12 hours. Thanks Nannie for the information!!!

    I figured I am having a B-day on Saturday, if I could drop a pound, that would be a great B-day present to myself! And having a plan in place to offset my birthday cake isn't a bad idea. Being able to eat a small amount is so much better than eating nothing like other fasts I have been on...I do feel hungry at this point, but like you all say, I know its just a day. I did a 45 minute walk, 2 miles, and felt fine. So glad you are all here doing this trial together! In a way this is a perfect diet for the sleeve, the tummy knows how to eat 500, it just takes home cooking to really make it seem less like a fast and more like regular eating in moderation.

    Ah you jumped in FYE...lol Still sitting on the sidelines, not committing yet. BUT this link is awesome...thanks for sharing it.
    Oh and I did commit to tracking my cals this week. So far before dinner I've logged 744 cals, 50g carbs and 64g Protein. Not sure on dinner yet, it will likely be lean and green. (meat and salad.)

    So, it is 8.20 pm and I've just had my evening meal!
    Logging in at 505 cals, not too shoddy!
    I've allowed myself 4 cups of tea/coffee with semi skimmed milk and 1 small brown sugar.
    I had porridge with S/S milk at lunch at 1.15pm
    For my evening meal, I had frozen berries and (115g) and low fat pro biotic yogurt (100g).
    I have also drunk 1 1/2 liters of Water so far, which for me is a miracle! But I just kept sipping throughout the day.
    I have to admit, it wasn't too bad and is certainly manageable, just gotta be organised and make the right food choices!
    I went to Curves straight from work... and glad that I did cos I've had a really crappy day and if I had come home, I know I would have gone straight to the cupboard and got a handful of nuts!
    Gotta say, I am sooo pleased that we are doing this together, it is a great feeling to know that there is someone there 'on the other side' waiting for the updates!

    Thank god for a snack!! You know I think the hardest part for me will not be eating at night. Just like before my surgery that is the witching hours for me! I can eat hardly anything all day and then I want that nighttime comfort..
    So for that alone (stopping at 6 or 7) it will be a good thing for me

    WTG BTB!!! You endured a lot to finish that half!!! Way to be a trooper and get your 2nd half under your belt! Love the race pic and medal. Your shirt is too awesome! The whole carb loading before a race is still hard for me to, it's tough to know how many carbs to eat to not end up with an upset tummy and needing to use the port a John during the race. I know over time as we continue running we will figure out what works for our bodies. Congrats again!!! My 2nd half for this years scheduled for September...training begins in 2 weeks! What's next on your list, now that you have 2 halfs under your belt???

    I might have to give the 5:2 plan a try! I've not tracked my food in over a MONTH!!! Aaargh! I fell off the tracking wagon that I was on from Jan-May and now I just can't seem to climb back on. My weight is up (again) in my high range, whereas previously this year I had lost -9lbs just by tracking what I eat.
    I'm going to support group tonight and will ask the NUT that runs the program what she thinks about the 5:2 plan.
    I follow this blog and she has her own plan for those who suspect that sugar is a huge problem. I don't know how I feel about her plan. It seems like a great short-term solution but not for the long-haul. I would LOVE to see someone do a similar plan but actually eat REAL food not shakes. I did a no-sugar no-carb diet that was very strict and lost -17lbs (this is before being sleeved...like 2 years before I was sleeved) in 6 weeks. However, in 9 months time of eating "normally" again I regained +25lbs.
    Anyway, this is Holly's sugar detox program (she used to post on here but maybe not anymore? There is someone else here named Holly Rose who has lost a LOT of weight but not the same gal as this one:)

    Here is another post about the evils of sugar (and while I don't think that I fall into the category of people who need to treat sugar like a drug) I like what she wrote and have thought about doing her plan. It's basically like Slim-Fast (shakes all day then a meal for dinner). I'm just not sure that I can/want to be such a nazi about my food.

    But just throwing this out there for thoughts/ideas. I'm definitely still fighting this battle and just not sure that I will ever be DONE! Aargh!

    Did you watch the video, Globe? He specifically said 500 for women and 600 men. Works for me and I eat nowhere near that amount of calories per day normally ( unless I have fallen off the wagon and ate junk food all day!). I read the book too but guess I missed the formula.
    Got to tell you, for me, it's making me REALLY more conscious of choices and portions. I weighed this morning after 3 normal days and I have lost another 2 pounds! It's so weird. BUT I am exercising somewhat more (30 mins or so)and completely cut out junk except for PB filled pretzels and SF angel food cake! But it's all PORTIONED. I know it's the first week and it will all change but it has sure lifted my spirits and willpower to get moving again! Happy Monday (or whatever) to all! Good luck!

    I am going to order this book.....I do know that when I do cut way back on my food, I do lose weight. I will need to spread my meals out throughout the day though......When I drink more Water, I do eat less. I eat more, I drink less. Thank you for sharing this.
