  1. Exercise! Exercise! Cardio and Strength Training. Hire a personal trainer. Make sure it's one that is familar with WLS. Most experts say pick different days to do both but WLS folks should incorporate both everyday and of course walk, walk, walk. I'm two weeks out and started to trip because my thighs were getting the jiggle. ( I could feel it too.) I'm bottom heavy so it's mulitplied x2. I asked my surgeon if I could start working out and I was given the green light excluding weights (lifting anything 25 pounds or more) I know being a gym rat isn't at the top of everyone's to-do list but it's so important. It will at least minimize some of the sagging skin. Good Luck!

    Incision Healing...dry Or "wet"

I have dermabond and was told I can shower but don't submerge them in water. The glue should eventually wear off and magically I should be all healed. I was reading through the literature from the doctors office and it did saw I could put neosporin on them but I'm gonna let them do their own thing. I had to get cleared to go back to work and the OMS nurse said my incisions are healing nicely.
  3. I'm trying so hard to get into stage to. I can't do the Protein shakes. The ones I have (Chike and Unjury) taste good but after drinking them I get nauseous and a case of the runs. Because I don't tolerate milk will a friend suggested I try Lactaid. I haven't been nauseous since my two day stay in the hospital and now I'm nauseous. Ugh! My doctor suggested I try the Isopure Zero Carb clear drinks to get my protein in an next week try to re-introduce the shakes. So here is where I need your help? I've ready so many bad things about the taste of Isopure clear drinks. Can someone who has had a good experience suggest a flavor? I'm usually a fruity girl (cherry, strawberry etc;)? I'm headed our to Vitamin Shoppe and a case of 12 is 46.99. That's a lot of money for me to get something I don't like. Thankies!! :D
  4. Didn't make to the store so I read another post to mix the Protein powder with Water. Duh! It went down well no nausea. The shake wasn't as creamy but I loaded it down with ice and I was able to finish it without incident. Yayyy! Sad thing is I'm not ready for milk. So no pudding either. Sniff I did have some awesome loaded potato Soup that I pureed with chicken broth. I felt like this was my very first tasted of real food. It went down well too. A little too well. I had to remember to pace myself and slow down while eating. I'm going to have 4 more ounce tonight and put some unflavored Protein Powder in it.
  5. Thanks Do they let you mix and match the case?

    Something Strange!

Yowsers! I have the Dermabond glue. I now wonder what will be at my incision site once the glue has worn off.
  7. My experience with milk isn't a good one. I'm 11 days post-op. Good Luck!

    Gum

It actually depends on how long you have been sleeved. Eventually you will be able to chew gum however your sleeve is healed and you are eating regular food you should not chew gum. Here is the explanation my surgeon gave me. When you chew gum your stomach starts to release acids because your chewing is a signal food is on it's way down. We do not want to confuse our sleeve because it's still healing and learning to behave properly.

    I'm Sleeved.

Push for min 48 ounces of clear liquids. Everything counts - broth, ice pops, crystal light etcl With the minimum you should not get dehyrdrated

    One Week Post-Op

I'm 8 days post-op. Wow! Last week this time I was in what seemed like a bad dream. LOL I met with the surgeon today and I am down 15.4 lbs. This has been a hard week. I'm learning my sleeve. I'm in constant feel of doing something wrong. I'm not getting in enough fluids. I have to really work on getting in at least 48 oz. I met with my nutritionist yesterday and she reassured me that just a long as I follow the Diet Stages I will be fine. She said take it slow and not to push myself. My stomach is in the healing stage and I don't want to do anything to create a leak. She created me an awesome eating schedule for when I return to work next week. It guides me to make sure I get in all my fluids and proteins. Prior to the surgery I was given a booklet by the surgeon that showed me the diet progression in terms of weeks. So I figured I would be eating regular food by the end of June. NOT! I really had a hard time dealing with this disappointment yesterday. Stage 1 is Clear Liquids for One Week (Done) Stage 2 is Clear Liquids, Protein Drinks, SF yogurt, Low fat Cottage cheese mashed (chewed until the consistency of toothpaste), pureed vegetable soups (strained, no rice or noodles), thinned/soupy cream of wheat, thinned stage 1 baby foods for 3 Weeks WTH - 3 Weeks???????? Stage 3 is all the stuff from Stage 1 & 2 and egg beaters (soft/mushy), tuna, canned salmon, etc; for 2 weeks It's a bit of a head trip knowing I can't eat real food until July. However, I want to be successful with my sleeve.

    The Horror Stories *sensitive*

I agree. There are a lot of what ifs. The sleeve in my opinion is the safest of all the bariatric surgeries. I honestly stayed away from negative talk because everyone's experience is different. I still had the fear of not surviving but that's normal. I have 2 boys. You have to weigh out the pros and the cons. When I woke up in recovery (I am 8 days post-op) I thanked God for his grace.

    Eight Days Post-Op - Big Weigh-In

This experience marvals me and reminds me that doctors are human too. It's amazing how so many doctors do things differently.

    Eight Days Post-Op - Big Weigh-In

I'm 42. The procedure is done with conscious sedation. I'm actually a little afraid to get it removed. However, I don't want any trouble 20 yrs down the road.

    Eight Days Post-Op - Big Weigh-In

I asked the doctor today. She said, it's up to me but it needs to be done within a month of having it inserted. The doc also said, it's okay if I want to keep it in. I'm still taking the Levonox shots. Ugh! I hate giving myself needles.

    Urine

    *raises hand**
  24. I was feeling extra thirsty and had a pastey tongue. I grabbed a bottle of cold water and remembered to take small sips. My sleeve reacted noisely to the cold sips of water. I decided to slowly eat a SF Popsicle. Still feeling thirsty I took a few small sips of a warm vitamin water zero (tastes yucky) so I decided to do the other SF Popsicle I had about 2 inches left and I took a little bit let it melt in my mouth then swallowed and OUCH!!! It hurt! WTH! So being a warm bloodied creature I took another bite just to make sure and it happened again! Light bulb went off in my HEAD! You have had enough! I tossed the rest of my popsicle and felt okay with doing so! Pre-surgery I would have the need to finish the small piece of popsicle! Waste not Want not!
