MoreganK reacted to NtvTxn in Almost 3 yrs and I'm still amazed
In June I'll be three years post op, I am still surprised at how quickly I can drop a few pounds. I'm still below Dr. D's goal of 150, but I hoover (sp?) around 147, just a couple of pounds above MY personal goal. A few days ago I thought, I'm going to alter my calories just a little and see what happens. I almost always keep a food log, but I've been especially dedicated this week. I've gone up and down a little, which is normal for me, but this morning I got up and weighed 145.7. Whoooo whooo! I normally need 1200 - 1300 to maintain, I have been closer to eating 1300, maybe a little over, since Christmas and my weight has creeped up a few lbs, one time I was 151, and that totally was NOT OK!!!!! LoL This week I cut it back to 1100 - 1150. I do not feel deprived at all, I basically cut out a snack. Yesterday though, my Protein was a little over 95 grams and total calories were 1034. Wow....and it feels as though I grazed all day but I kept track!! The cincher was dinner. I'd planned on making a chicken rice a roni casserole. I use Greek yogurt in it, half lite sour cream and half yogurt. It's topped with 2% cheddar.....it's not horrible, and I eat less than 3/4 a cup....but, there are still more calories than I really wanted. When I was at the grocery store I stumbled across a package of cooked, tail on shrimp in the meat dept. It looked sooooo good, it was half price because it had to be sold by today. I snatched it up and steamed it for dinner. Nothing else, cocktail sauce and shrimp. I made 6.5 oz but could only eat 4 oz at dinner. I saved the rest and THAT was a snack later on. That put me way over the top for protein. I am sure this helped with getting me down a pound from yesterday morning. (Yes, I weigh every single morning......for almost three years now!!
I just wanted to share this......it is still pretty simple to lose a few pounds just by making a few good choices, NOT a diet, just a choice!!!! A half cup of cottage cheese for Breakfast with about a quarter cup of pineapple 'tidbits'. Breakfast of champions!!!

So today I tried a new version of pizza. A low carb wheat tortilla topped with about 3/4 cup of mozzarella cheese, a cup of fresh spinach, a small Tomato sliced, half of a sliced chicken breast, a few sprinkles of McCormick salt free all-purpose seasoning. I put in the oven for about 5 minutes on 350 and then switched to broil for about 3. I must say it was delicious!

You probably need to drink more Water and do deep breathing exercises. Did u bring your incentive spirometer home from hosp? Either way do them ten times every hour while awake. Also walk around your home.

You look wonderful!!! Maybe you should look at these pics when you don't feel 'small'.......75 lbs is a lot of weight. I've lost 40 in total from start of process to now (7 weeks out) and I'm having a 'fat day'. You know those days where you just feel fat , one of those.
We need to be kinder and gentler to ourselves....we are doing a good thing for our health and need to be as kind as we would to a friend who has lost weight. You're an inspiration. Keep up the great work.

I'm 5 months out and it is slowly sinking in that I have went from almost 200lbs to 126lbs! It really hits ya when you buy a few new outfits each month or so. Maybe that will help you feel like you're really smaller... I love buyinclothes now! Sometimes I just try stuff on with no intention of buying just to see where I'm at... Try that....You look awesome by the way!!!

    Hello everyone,
I know I have not been on here in a while but I just wanted to give and update on my progress. Word of encouragement, hang in there. I've been sleeved over a year and I'm still losing weight. I was stuck at 170 for over 6 months and I honestly thought that was it but finally the stall broke. I'm very happy and now I'm living my life again. I have taken back everything that the Devil stole from me. I'm walking in victory.

I am one of those rare people I think, bread was ok with me at 5 months. But, I could only eat one (if that small slice). Stick to whole wheat, whole grain, or rye bread if you try it. There are some wraps from a company called, La Tortilla Factory that are low/no carb & high Fiber tortillas that my nutritionist recommended to me, and I love them. They're better for me than bread. I find them usually in Kroger's... don't know if you have those where you live. I think their website lets you store locate retailers that sell them.

Walking down the hall way to my desk, our IT guy is walking behind me and says, "If you lose anymore weight, one day your clothes are gonna just fall right off!" He is referencing my now too big size 16s I keep wearing anyway. I smile, "And say I know. I need to go shopping. I have 40 more pounds to go before I'm done." As he turns down his row, he smirks, "Twig!" I laugh, and am torn between thinking, "ME!? A Twig!? What!? What. What?" and simply, "Thank you, for such a great compliment!"
I am struggling a lot with percetion. I am struggling to see my new self. When I lookin the mirror, am I smaller? Yes, am I still chubby, and all I see is that chub? Yes. My boyfriend makes me feel small. He wraps his arms around me so tight now, its a wonderful feeling and I love it. When he hugged me the other day, I whispered, "This makes me feel small." He whispered back, "Thats because you are small." My brother in law hugged me on Thanksgiving, and yelled out, "Look at that! My arms go all the way around little girl!" I was flying high from happiness and embarassment.
I'm now comfortably in as size 14 down from 20/22s. After this size, I'm entering into terriory I've not known as an adult, and frankly I'm excited and scared. My goal is to wear a size 10/11. I love being smaller, don't get me wrong. But, I most of the time still don't think that I am. I still think and feel most of the time, that I'm still size 20 me. I'm still ashamed and embarassed or worried that I look awful. My jeans are baggy, my coat is too big. My shoe size is smaller for heaven's sake... why can't I see and accept that I am smaller!? I'm less 75 pounds of me. Thats the size of a child!
Recently, a coworker of mine, who knew I was getting surgery showed me a photo he took of me the day before my surgery. I didn't even recognize her. I was like, "That is me?" That person doesn't even register as me anymore.
I'm exactly 7 months post op in two days. I've lost 75 pounds from my highest weight recorded in Febuary of 2011.
Any of you struggle with this? What helped?
Here is my before from my coworker, one I took the morning of surgery, and a picture I took just 2 weeks ago. This is the first time I've done a side by side.....

bread isn't worth it honestly. I was doing a bakery shift at work and just had a pinch of bread out of the oven. Then another. Long story short, I ate around 200 calories of bread. Thank god for scales in the bakery. And about... 4 or so hours later, I was starving, my stomach stopped hurting finally, and I was so tired! Bread gives you no energy and is a waste of sleeve space. Made me realize that my unhealthy obsession with bread explains my low energy levels for all these years.
If you have to eat bread, go for whole grain bread

Congrats on the weight loss. What a great feeling it is when snuggling with hubs/boyfriend and feeling so close. I love this too. Yeah, self perception is a tricky thing and I think that most people struggle with trying to see ourselves as others see us (small or tiny for example). It has taken me awhile to adjust to my reflection, but like other things it gets more "normal" feeling as time passes by. In the mean time, enjoy all of the little nsvs that occur and keep on plugging towards goal. You will be there before you know it.
