    regrets

It was quitting time at work when I post my response, now that I had time to think about it...here is my response. I do not regret getting the band, if I would have never experienced the chance to get the band I would still today be wondering what if. I lost 55 lbs with the band and loved it. It was after I slipped and looked back at the past three years that I was glad it was gone. After the slippage I could not eat or drink for 5 days. It was too much drama for me, to tight, not tight enough, I'm stressing=tight again, I have to evacuate from a hurricane and stay gone for 2 weeks, I'm hours away from home and my Dr evidently is evacuated too and I can't sleep sitting up without reflux. Personally, I think that the dr that did my band put the small band in me and should have put a larger....my band was very picky about fills. Out of the 6 people I know that he has banded 3, including myself are unbanded. We were some of the firsts that he did and I think maybe if we would have had the larger band we would not have slipped and would have been able to handle fills. So, Regret it no....glad I did so I don't have to wonder. Glad I had it taken out Yes. Do it again No. But, everyone is different. I have managed to keep the weight off that I had lost. I say to everyone if you really want it, try it..the good thing is if you don't like it or it don't work you can take it out!!!!

    regrets

Yes, I regret getting the band and am glad that I had it removed. I had the choice to fix the slippage and decided to remove the band. Best decision I have made. I like what someone else said, it's like having a choke collar on. Don't feel bad Kare, express your feelings. ****See additional response on page 2****

    The Honeymoon Phase

This is just a reminder that we are here to support each other, not tear each other down. I think that there are several good posts in this thread and would hate for me or another mod to have to lock it. Please watch your "manners".
  8. Just wanted to check in and see how everyone was. I am still watching what goes in my mouth, but not as strict as I was right after unbanding. I did get a 90 day prescription to Adipex in today. So, I am hoping that I can lose a few lbs with that. I had lost probably about 70 lbs with it before, but then I got pg and gained it back and after my baby I had the band. I hope all is well with everyone! I hate fighting the weight issue, but it is easier to maintain then to lose. I am still glad that I decided to have my band removed. I feel alot healthier!

    Newbie, recently de-banded

I had my band removed in March of this year. I have gained 3-5 lbs, depending on the day. I did not seek other weight loss surgeries, my band had actually slipped and I chose to have it taken out. It was too much drama for me. Too tight, too loose, pbing, not able to eat proteins, living on "soft" foods. LaMadam, another member here, had her band removed and has maintained her weight. It is possible and we can do it!! Good Luck to You!

    Whats wrong with this picture?

The same doctor that did your surgery did mine. I personally have 6 friendsfamily including myself that he has banded. Out of 6 - 3 have been removed including myself. 1 has lost no weight and was told by him that she needs to lose weight on her own before he fills her. The other 2 have lost weight with it, 1 has got to goal and the other has not.

    Yet ANOTHER surgery!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Long post)

Since it is an emergency surgery due to vomiting, which could lead to dehydration, could there be a chance that your insurance would cover it? My insurance no longer cover anything obesity related, but when my band slipped and I could not eat or drink for 5 days and was dehydrated they paid for the removal. I don't think that you want the band totally removed, but maybe they would help with a port? My insurance required me to be admitted through the ER. I did and they admitted me and then the doctor came and did the surgery. Maybe your insurance would help you!

Bad Reflux 2 weeks after fill

My best advice to you all is to go get an unfill ASAP. You don't want to cause serious damage to your esophagus...and it can happen!

Would I get the Band again?

Penni, Hang in there with me.... My insurance no longer covers any type of weight loss surgery, or anything for weight loss. So, my chances of getting another surgery is slim to none. I would have to gain weight to get approved for any weight loss surgery and I am not willing to gain weight. I have worked to keep this weight off and I will do my best to succeed. I enjoyed my band while I had it, but I don't think that I would ever do the band again, IF I had another surgery it would be one of the many other ones. But, Penni, take a deep breath, each day is a new one and we can do this!
