  1. Mexico is perfectly safe to go alone. The thing is you won't be alone. You will have people to tell you where to go and a driver to take you where you need to go. Ask your hotel to get you a trustworthy cab before you go anywhere and find out what it will cost before you go. You will have plenty of help. If you could lose the weight and keep it off you wouldn't be considering surgery. Do not let anyone make you feel bad about your decision. It's your life and your body. You are the only one that knows what is good for you. I am also short and had 110lbs to lose. I currently have lost 86lbs only 24 more to go. You can do this I promise.

  2. just wondering how everybody's surgeries went... and why you guys all decided to go to Mexico, instead of using a local doctor? i live in the tulsa area.. so.. just curious.

thank you :) and i hope everybody's surgery went well!

The reason I went to Mexico was financial reasons. Insurance would not cover anything. I had a great experience and have had 2 friends go to my doctor since I went. They also had the same great experience. I only paid $5000 for my surgery. I am doing great and do not regret my decision at all. I have lost 82 pounds in less than 6 months. I only have 27 more to go. Life is great.

I also live in the Tulsa area.

  3. I am 3 months out and can eat about 4 to 5 bites at a time without pushing it. It also depends on the food. I try not to eat until it hurts. I just put a certain amount of food on my plate and thats all I eat. I do Portion Control. It always satifies me. I also eat 4-6 small meals a day. I also believe just because you can doesn't mean you should. I will always keep my portions small and make sure my carbs are low. Protein, veggies, and some fruit is all I eat.

  4. It would be nice if they could feel for one day how people few someone that is overweight. They have no clue how we have felt and been treated. What it is like to try and find cute clothes without looking or feeling sloppy. If their was only a true way to make them feel what we have felt it would be a blessing to humanity.

  5. I am with the don't ask don't tell motto. I told one person in my family and got a very negative response so I am selective about who I tell. I also like hearing how good I look and having a positive response versus oh you had surgery response. Some people are either jealous that you had or say it is the easy way out. They are ignorant and have no idea how hard this decision is to make and live with. With that said I would not change my decision for anything. I am very happy with my loss and very happy with my life right now. Telling is very personal choice because everyone has family and friends with different a outlook on WLS. Good luck to everyone.

  6. I have lost 59lbs in 12 weeks and have excess skin on my arms and inner thighs. I am also 40 years old though. It all depends on how much weight you need to lose and your age. I will definitely be having plastic surgery after I reach goal. I have seen some younger people not have a noticeable problem with excess skin. Everyone is different because of their skin elasticity so I would not worry about the skin just worry about losing the weight and being healthy. The skin will either bounce back or it won't. It is a problem that can be fixed. When you have rapid weight loss it does have an affect on your skin with everyone but some is just worse than others. Good luck. Working out does help some.

  7. The caffeine is suppose to dehydrate you. I was told and I believe I read it also that the coffee is suppose to irritate your new stomach during the healing process. It has something in it that can irritate the stomach much like fruit acid can. I am sure after you are totally healed coffe would be ok. I am not sure how long that process actually takes though. I would have to find my paper work from Dr. Garcia that says when you can start eating raw fruit but I would think you could drink your coffee about the same time. That is my best guess lol.
