Did Surgery Make Your Period Come Earlier And Stronger?

Mine went haywire after surgery, I was having one every 2.5-3 weeks with spotting in between. My OBGYN said it would be like this for months. Noooooooo! About a month ago my sister told me about taking cinnamon and cayenne to help regulate and moderate TOM. I was skeptical but willing to try anything, so started adding 1/2 tsp of cinnamon and cayenne pepper to my morning Protein shakes. To my shock, the spotting stopped immediately. Thursday I started TOM (right on schedule for the first time in 4 months), and it's much lighter and hardly any cramps. There is a lot of info online about the natural benefits of cinnamon and cayenne, I suggest doing some research to see if it might help you. Sent from my iPad using VST

    New To This....

It's really no big deal if you did have one, it's easily repairable at surgery and doesn't really change recovery plans at all. I am so grateful that my awful reflux is gone! Sent from my iPad using VST
  4. I'm hypothyroid. My weight loss has been slower than some others on here (48 lbs total, 28 since surgery on 4/9), but i haven't had to worry too much about saggy skin so far. I consider that a fair trade for the slow loss. Sent from my iPad using VST

    New To This....

Good luck! I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia at my upper GI (had NO idea I had one or that it was the cause of my reflux problems), and my surgeon repaired it at time of surgery. Sent from my iPad using VST

Any Ladies At 5'5"? What's Your Story?

I know! I've lost basically 50 lbs and my coworkers who see me every day haven't noticed - or at least they haven't said anything. A friend who knew about my surgery said recently ". . . . And when you start losing weight . . ." ummm, HELLO? How can I be down 4-5 sizes and you not notice? Sent from my iPad using VST

Any Ladies At 5'5"? What's Your Story?

Another 5'5"er here. Started this at 275, was 254 at surgery on 4/9, and at three months out I'm 225 for a total loss to date of 48 lbs. Slow loser but I'm dealing with thyroid and metabolic issues. I'm fairly large boned and carry my weight in boobs, hips and butt. Very much an hourglass shape. I can gain a good bit of weight before it ever shows. I'm currently in a smaller size than I wore when at this weight previously, due to toning and exercise. Began at a 2X top and 22/24W bottom, now in a L top and 16W bottom. I was 154 at my skinniest about ten years ago and would love to see that again someday, but we shall see. I am trying to judge by appearance and feel and not numbers, but it's hard. For the past two months I've been exercising an average of 4x week, having to keep to low/no impact due to a back injury. Currently my schedule looks something like: Monday - I hr Water aerobics, 30 mins elliptical Tues. - 1 hr elliptical or Zumba, 30-60 mins strength Wed. - 1 hr water aerobics, 30 mins elliptical Thurs. - 1 hr elliptical or Zumba, 30-60 mins strength Friday - off Sat/Sun- one day off, one day with 60 mins cardio and 30-60 mins strength (not always achieved) Sent from my iPad using VST

They must have at least verbal approval or they wouldn't have committed to a surgery date. IMHO. Sent from my iPad using VST

    New To This....

I had insurance approval in less than a week. It happened way faster than I thought possible. Congratulations! I have no regrets whatsoever.

    Breakfast Ideas?

I'm with HondaCivicDude, the Morningstar sausages are great. I have one of the sausage patties with cheese sprinkled on top. It's delicious.

Heat Tolerance - Question For Post-Sleevers

I had become so heat intolerant that I could get the sweats even on a chilly damp day, if I was doing any kind of activity. Sweat would pour from my scalp like a Water hose. So awfully embarrassing. Starting a couple weeks after surgery, it just disappeared. Now I only sweat when working out at the gym. It has changed my life. I'm the first person at the pool, in a boat, anything outdoors. Even detailed my car for four hours in 95 degree heat the other day with only minor sweating. Sent from my iPad using VST

What Amount Can You Eat After Sleeve?

I'm 13 weeks out and the amount I can eat varies on the density of the food. Some of my regular meals at home are: 1 Morningstar veggie sausage patty with 1 oz cheese on top 1 5.3oz container nonfat plain Greek yogurt 3/4 veggie hamburger patty 1/2 Premier Protein bar 1 oz roasted peanuts 2 oz grilled salmon Last night we went to Outback for dinner. I ordered the 6 oz sirloin with salad and broccoli. I was able to eat about 1.5 oz of my steak, one piece of broccoli and three bites of salad, and I was stuffed. For me, I feel "empty" every few hours, so I end up having several small snack sized meals per day. I don't get low blood sugar episodes that way, which was a problem when I'd try to starve myself pre surgery. I have a goal of 1,000 calories a day which I rarely meet, although I come close. I almost always hit 75+ grams of protein though. I stay away from rice, Pasta, bread and potatoes, they don't sit well in my tummy. Sent from my iPad using VST

8 Weeks Out - Slow Scale Movement!

I was 254 at surgery on 4/9, and just today hit 234. -20 at ten weeks out and -40 total. I won't lie, it has been frustrating. However, I stopped weighing every day for my own sanity and try not to weigh more than once a week. My pattern seems to be no loss for 2-3 weeks at a time, then lose a couple of lbs quickly and back to a stall. I'm 1/3 of the way to goal. Like you, I also forgot to take measurements, but I've gone from 2X/22-24 to L/18 (T/B). Just wore a size 14 bathing suit yesterday. I'm eating right, exercising well and bloodwork all came back great, so I try to ignore the little voice in my head that complains its not coming off fast enough. Hang in there, you are doing great. What To Eat?

I was sleeved 4/9 and am pretty much eating what I want. I still have a Protein shake in the morning. I'm not eating rice, bread or Pasta, and maybe only a bite of a potato. Last night I grilled salmon, and grilled eggplant, zucchini and mushrooms on skewers. I got about 2oz of my salmon down and one piece of each veggie. Had the other 2oz of salmon a few hours later. This week I've had trout, shrimp, diced ham, rotisserie chicken and shredded pork as protein sources. I haven't tried steak yet but maybe soon. The only thing that hasn't agreed with me post surgery is eggs. I've tried three times and felt nauseated each time. Go figure. I love to cook and it has been a wee bit frustrating to spend time and effort on the meal and then take just a few bites, but I'd still rather cook than eat processed food. I just put some country style pork ribs in the slow cooker for dinner tonight. They should be super tender and easy to eat tonight. Good luck, it does get easier! Sent from my iPad using VST

    Let Me Get This Straight...

Post surgery I tend to stall for 2-3 weeks at a time, then drop 3-5 lbs during a week, then back to stall.. My hypothyroidism probably has something to do with that. So be it. I just keep on truckin'. Sent from my iPad using VST
  18. I was sleeved 4/9 and am now in my THIRD stall. They seem to last 2-3 weeks at a time, then I'll lose a few lbs over a few days, then back to stall. Was 254 on SD (started at 275) and am now at 235. I can't really complain about -19 at 8.5 weeks, but it IS frustrating. I finally took the scale out of the bathroom and try not to weigh more than 1x week. It was making me crazy. This is coming from the world's most impatient person, but try try try to be as patient as you can. It will eventually come down. Try to focus your thoughts on exercise and eating right. Exercising and tracking my progress on myfitnesspal has kept me from being completely bonkers.

    Sizes Have Changed

Yes, me too. I have dropped sizes without losing pounds, and now fitting into clothes that I couldn't wear when I was last at this weight six years ago. I haven't exercised long enough yet to credit that with the difference. The weight seems to be coming off my fanny and upper torso - but not from the girls! Completely different from every other weight loss attempt I've tried. However it's happening, I'm just appreciative of it.

No Longer Hot? Omg This Is Awesome!

I wish the best for you. I live in South MS, it was in the '90s all weekend. I sat by the pool, went to the beach, ran errands in the middle of the day, you name it. Of course I wasn't cold, but I wasn't a hot sweaty mess either. I'm still in shock about it. I've been in hiding indoors for about 4 years now.

When To Expect My First Stall?

Two weeks after surgery for me. I'm now almost 7 weeks out and in the second two week stall. This is not going to be easy-breezy for me, I'm afraid. Sent from my iPad using VST
