    Bad Timing And Regret

I agree with all the encouragement here. I'm also glad you, I, and other's have this space to vent on days that we feel so very low, as well as our triumphant ones. I'm a new sleever, tomorrow is one week post-op and I too feel up and down everyday so far. I know one day I will believe this was a great choice and since reading here, I also know there will be days ahead that I will question it over and over. Keep sharing with us, even the really bad stuff, this is our safe place to say anything while going through this. I hope your family life, home situation, and current stall finds a solution you will be at peace about! Take care of yourself, and vent here anytime, knowing someone here is feeling it with you! Together we are stronger!

    Hiccups

Sleeved 6 days ago, having spontaneous hiccups for the last 3 days. I can't seem to identify any particular event, food, drink, or activity that brings them on. They last anywhere from 3 to 10 hiccups and then go away. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice?

    Lortab

Came home with liquid lortab, but could not keep it down. Yesterday picked up a new rx liquid roxicet and it is much easier to handle. Its more concentrated so you don't have to swallow as much either. Also picked up rx Zofran a sublingual anti-nausea drug to take a few minutes before ingesting the pain med. Has made a big difference for me. Seems like I have been having more post-op pain than others here are reporting, I'm 6 days out and still hurts to move much. Doctor says everything's ok though, just slow progression. Definitely talk to your doctor about the post-op home med options because doing it after the fact was really frustrating. Wishing you all the best!

    Hiccups

I have been doing some additional reading on the subject of hiccups and now understand it is a very common thing for weight loss surgery patients. For many it is their new full or ate to fast signal. For some it has to due with the trigger of the Vagus or Phrenic nerves triggered behind the stomach pouch in the diaphragm. Seems likely that since there is a lot of inflammation after surgery that may contribute to the hiccup trigger. From what I read it is usually more prevalent in the first few months post-op, but for others it continues longer just not as often. So it may have a lot to do with healing and learning our new way of food and fluid intake. I sure hope it does abate soon, but I am going to try and respond to it like a warning signal if it happens as I am ingesting anything. 5. Thanks Jimmy & Meghan for the great information! Most of our doubts about information come from fear, from conditioning after things tried and failed, for some it makes it hard to try something new or again. It hope this thread will give some, hope, as it has given me. I have saved this information and will try as many of the suggestions I can afford. I'll report back any progress I make with them as I lose weight and allow enough time for a proper response. The great thing about our new life sleeve diet is that we will be focusing on daily high lean protein and nutritious fluid content already. I'll report back any progress I make with them as I lose weight and allow enough time for a proper response. I really appreciate your in-depth report on options that may help us, help our bodies heal and tighten our skin. Thank you for keeping it real with the fact that we should not expect our ultimate skin tightening until 6 months after our final weight loss goal is met. It helps to have advice that includes realistic expectations.

1St Time I Loved My Sleeve

What a great statement to read today! The idea of being able to do what you did seems so far out of reach, but knowing that it will happen gives me hope. So happy for you!

    4 Days Out

I was sleeved on Tuesday the 22nd. The first night seems a blur with a lot of drugs, best night so far. I've only had one period in 2 years and of course I would start a mega one the night of surgery. What a mess, a male nurse and male aid too. They deserve credit though, the did a great job keeping professional. The second day and night were much the same, a lot of drugs, sipping formula, and sleeping. Came home Thursday afternoon, now on liquid pain meds that just make me nauseous and the hell began. Couldn't control the pain, nausea, and drink enough fluids. Started having diarrhea that evening, weight coming home 258, weight Friday 8 am 253. Dehydrated, nauseated, dizzy, and in pain I was told to go to the ER by my surgeon's office. Spent the day getting fluids and meds then came home around 4pm. No much has changed since Friday, but I am determined to drink protein fluids and slowly heal. Today has me questioning everything. It's too late, but that doesn't stop the thoughts. My family is very concerned for me, but I can see in that they also want to say, "you chose this!" I hope that in some weeks to come I will be happy I chose this again, today it feels like an insane choice. I can never go back and I'd give anything today to not hurt when I swallow something. Let's hope tomorrow is better.

    Thinner List

My list of things I am looking forward to when I am thinner: Fitting into a booth comfortably Fitting into movie seats comfortably Flights without an extended seat belt Sitting on my friends wooden kitchen chairs and praying I don't break them Shopping at a normal size store Dancing with more confidence again Improved love life Less heart burn Feet and knees that don't hurt Stomach out of the way of the steering wheel Keeping up when on a long walk or hike Having the energy to be more active, exercise Controlling food, not allowing it to control me Get those old jeans and formal dress on Feeling confident in my skin Less top heavy so I can wear high heals again without feeling off balance Someones notice, not because I am fat, but because I look good No diabetes, GERD, Heart disease, High Cholesterol, Edema Working at a fast pace without hypoglycemia Being drenched in my uniform with sweat as I struggle to keep up

    4 Days Out

Thank you all for your thoughts! I am doing better tonight, still in pain because I decided if the pain meds were making me sick, why take them, lol seems like a no-brain-er... but you know the pain I'm talking about. Anyway I am dealing with it with just children's Tylenol and I'm going to make it. No more diarrhea, thank God! I have been keeping clear fluids down and you are right, will worry about protein when the rest gets easier. I talked with the doctor and they said there wasn't much else they could do, I'm allergic to codeine too. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired and post splenectomy scar tissue removed during surgery, so they said that is adding to my discomfort. I hope you all recover fast and that we all get through these days of doubts. It's good to have your support, know you have mine! Good news is I'm down 24 lbs since May 1st, will concentrate on that. Liz

    Break Down

Forgive yourself for breaking down. Maybe it was a blessing, an eye opener that you may need to find an outlet for your rolling emotions. I started counseling about 2 moths ago and its helped me. Maybe that or another type of avenue that lets you vent your frustrations would help you. I doubt that is a mistake you will make again, so it was a learning experience. I will send up positive thoughts your way, hoping for peace to flow through you today. Liz

That's what 21 days on fat free milk only does to your mind Suregery tomorrow, thank God!
