Bigdogkc .... I am proud of you for recognizing your issue, posting it here: asking for advice, then posting the next day that you made it through another night..
I was there: committed to the surgery but still going through so much mentally during pre-op it didn't seem do-able .... But i did it, as you are... We made it through...
It is ok to feel the way you did, it is ok to vent your frustrations...
not one (1) of us will be perfect every day of pre-op or post-op ...we will flub up...but .... we remember tomorrow is another day, to try harder, to feel more confident, and to smile when we realize "we CAN do this"..
good luck, stay strong and believe in yourself !!!

I am 62 and had my surgery a week ago. I needed a little coaxing the day of. My recovery is going well. I asked for enough anti nausea and pain Meds so that I was walking around the unit within 4 to 6 hrs (narcotics blurred my memory). I amped up my walking 2 weeks prior to my date and think it helped. Not one post op person I know said they had regrets and this gave me comfort to take the leap. And that boosts my feelings about myself.

tjmom got a reaction from gloriann in Nsv... I Went From 5:45 Am To 5 Pm Without Using My Wheelchair...
Today was a milestone for me... I have used a motorized chair off and on for 5 years ..but all day/every day (24/7) for the last 3 years...Reason: i have had 2 back surgeries (have some disc fused) & have arthritis in my back, hips and knees (to name a few) ...Doctor wants to replace both my knees, but that's another post.
Since my WLS, i have tried to walk a bit everyday...at first, just around the island in the kitchen... Then from one end of the house to the other... Last Monday i added short, slow walks outside with my husband...(he would ride in my motorized chair in case i needed it). The walks gave me the confidence i needed...
Today, when i woke up, i said, "lets see how long we can go today without using the chair." well, i went from 5:45am to 5 pm...i was so happy, i cried when i told my husband after he got home from work... (he thought i hurt myself...sweet man, so caring)
Physically, I am very sore....but mentally i feel GREAT!
    Thank you for listening

I had another doctor appointment today- everything is looking great! I'm at 16 weeks, 3 days. The heart rate was 152... Are y'all thinking what I'm thinking? We get to find out the gender for sure on the 21st! I am so, so excited
I have been feeling the baby move for a few days now. Today it was very, very active. It felt like someone was slowly stirring brownie batter inside my tummy!

Sorry it has been so long without an update. We have made it to our 3rd trimester with no complications, a completely healthy baby if not a little larger then average and I have not gained any weight, in fact, I've lost 46 pounds while pregnant. We discovered the sex of our child and are expecting a little girl who we will name Zoe Michele Elaine McGee. At 29 weeks exactly, I have contracted the flu but bean is still tumbling around in there and seems to be oblivious to the discomfort I am feeling out here There were alot of pics to add, so I created an album and anyone truly interested is welcome to take a peek! The only pic I included in this post is my favorite one of the latest shot of her. She has her foot and both her little hands tucked up near her face, and we watched her alternate between scratching her face with her foot, and sucking on her hands and her feet.

Before I had this surgery I was worried about loose skin and not having any muscle tone after the surgery. Well I am proud to say that I am a year out of surgery and I don’t have any loose skin. I have always lifted weights and wanted continue after I had my surgery. I am going to be honest when I got back in the gym after surgery I was extremely weak, in college I could bench about 475 lbs., when I got back in the gym I could barely bench 145 lbs. I stuck to it and now I am up to 375 lbs., I work out 4 days a week and I swim 3 say a week. I don’t run or walk because of the stress on my knees, I think once I get to my target weight I will start to run. Just recently I have noticed that I have gained 15 lbs. but my waist and my shirt size has reduced by 3 sizes. At first I was frustrated about the weight gain but I was told that I am gaining muscle mass and it is much heavier than fat. I think I am going to add more cardio to my routine so I can get to my target weight then I will continue my weight regimen. I am so glad I decided to have this surgery..it has really changed my life!!!

I am so very sorry for your loss. and listening to your MIL comments made my "mother bear" tendencys arise (and i don't even know you , except here) all i know is if i was there, i would corner her and not let her go until she was shaking! Does she not know how precious life is? Your mothers and your baby!!! You have enough on your mind and in your heart for her to bother you. it seems to me, the only reason they came to the funeral was: "it wouldn't look good if the didn't & to grill you about your sister in law" ... not to support you in your time of need. . .
I am a MIL, and i am ashamed to have her in a category with me, that i am proud to be involved...
My heartfelt understanding goes out to you for your MIL troubles (i had the same with my first MIL)... thank goodness for my second, she taught me, by example, how to act when i became one...
Again, sorry about your loss, and gentle tummy rub for your baby.. ((hope i didn't offend you in any way))

Everyone needs to listen to their surgeons instructions ofcourse, my NUT told me it was the accidental SWALLOWING factor was the reason for the no gum. I have been chomping down everyday for 6 months. Orbit White Bubblemint. I <3 gum.

When I need my "crunchy salty cheesey" fix....i take 1 slice of American cheese - cut into 16 little squares - place on parchment paper - put in microwave for 1 minute.... wala - homemade cheese nips !!!
They are so go, and they store great in a plastic sandwich bag...
Seriously they are very good! I was a big Cheetos and Cheese Nip eater... this satisfies that "moment", for me.

Had a few of those moments as well over the past couple of months. I made a decision not to deprive myself as it would only increase the craving. Hit the corner store, purchased a small bag and had 4 or 5 cheetos which satisfied the need. I threw the remaining ones away and moved on.
While there will be some that will say this was a bad idea, I still see it as a victory. Once upon a time I would have eaten a grab bag size or larger without a second thought so to have 4/5 and be good was an accomplishment for me.
