  1. Thank u everyone for ur amazing post and support!!

Sorry for the delayed reply... I found out shortly after this post that we r pregnant with our first baby and have had a lot of complications... Here is the update. I could not get my band checked due to being pregnant, but everything seems to be working as normal. Because I was pregnant when I went into see my band doc, he took out .25 Fluid so I could eat a bit more. Since this incident things have been smooth sailing.

    Thank u again!

    Sophia

  2. I am a first time mom pregnant with my first, and I have the band. I can understand ur urge to get the weight off. I am freaking out over what I am gaining so far, but if ur already not producing enough I would be carful in getting a fill... I would first see how ur body will respond to breast feeding, give ur self at least 2-3 months...I was told u need about 800 calories to supply enough milk, plus what ever u would normally need...

I have also read about these Cookies that u can do to help with milk production. They are called lactation cookies... Maybe these will help u and then u could go in for one fill and see what happens... U can google lactation cookies for more info, but I read not to eat more than one or two because u will leak.

Hope this helps. I am new to all this too.

  4. I have had my lap band for 14 months now and I love my band but recently it has felt extremely tight and I wast sure why, I was going to be going in for a reduction in Fluid and then tonight before I could make my appt. I started throwing up this gray Gelatin substance. it feels so awful coming up and then when it put in between my fingers I am able to smash it. I dont know what it is and am worried. If any one has had this please help. I am going to go for an upper GI this weekend if I can get an ER to do it. Since throwing up some of it I have been able to get Water down easier, but I can still feel pieces of it. Its awful, any suggestions on what it could be would help thanks, also I did not eat anything like this substance before this started happening.

  5. ..more thoughts on this one Sophia. this is why the forum is so valuable... as much as the band is at times. theres nothing like learning of the experiences that others have. I agree...yes, there have been a lot of good changes when i think about it all. most of all the binging with me has stopped. it had to. lol. also, im taking a lot longer to chew my mouthfuls now... so yes, as i start to think about the positives im more encouraged. I guess that in time the other issues will be dealt with as well. I may have wanted everything to fall perfectly in place immediately... lol.

ive open up some black olives... got some very small crackers...( Im having them instead of chocolate now) and had a small salad for lunch with a boiled egg. i think that even these small changes will help me. im about to google ''leptin levels and fat loss'' and see what it has to say. Ohh... another thing. im discovering that i need to eat about 1200 calories a day for gradual weight loss... that is, just under a pound a week. If i go over that i gain weight again. my metabolism is very touchy. very sluggish now. if i eat much less than 1200 i dont lose either.. so that gives me a narrow margin to work with. At least now im starting to understand my body a little more.

I am so glad that you see a lot of the positive and it has motivated you!! that is a wonderful thing...and your right the chat boards and forums are very important considering I am to far from a support group. Have you thought about joining myfitnesspal.com? I use it from my phone it is amazing! It helps with the calories, since this is your main objective you may want to check it out....if you have a smart phone you can scan the bar code on what ever you are eating and it automatically looks it up for you...works about 95 percent of the time, i guess some items are just not imputed. if you do join look me up and check out my friends most are banded...I have found a lot of them use this and then my fitnesspal. Take care and have a great weekend. my screen name on myfitnesspal.com is snmtigger99. There is also a chat about this on this lapbandtalk which is where a lot of ppl are listing their screen names. good luck!

  6. I'm a J cup and it looks like the boobies are going to be the LAST area I'm going to lose.

    Good Job Lose 100!

Oh I know ur pain all to well!! I started out a 38 J and am now a 34 J. I am like I'm hello... Even tho they have shrunk a little I wouldn't mind being back into an f or even a g at this point. Lol.

For all th other wonderful women... I don't know what that feels like... But my friend does. She went and got her boobs lifted (adding some fakeness) and she is so happy. No sagging, dropping, and she says they still feel natural cause she had boobs before all they did was fill the lose skin. Not that I am suggesting for all women, but it's a thought....

We are all bless to be losing this weight and that is and should be our main focus... Congrats! :)

  7. ..and im the same at this point. ive changed a bit but not enough with my mental approach to it all. I dont have a lot of weight to lose... i dont know how i would cope if i did have a lot to lose. Im just starting to realize how emotional hangups affect me. If someone had told me i would have called them a liar. Now i can see that for myself. I have reached over halfway on my weight loss... not to my credit though. i consider im very fortunate that in spite of my mental approach to it all, ive lost weight.

You need to give your self some credit....when I told my friends that I had the lap band placed I had many different reactions, but the one I remember more than anything is a friend with fear in her eyes said oh please be careful. she continued to say I knew a lady that when she ate she would binge eat and then throw up, it started happening so frequently that she actually ate over the sink, she ended up tearing her stomach, having to have the band removed, and her stomach put back together. It was not at all fun. I know we are both struggling with what to eat, and how to eat, but obviously we have learned when to stop eating, at least most of the time, or we would not be where we are at. Give your self some credit or you wont be able to move forward in the future.

I hope for both of us we can learn to eat healthier, I usually go about 3-4 months of wonderful eating "dieting" and then I eat the crap again. I ended up doing that again, but am trying to stay on track, it is one of the worst habits to brake. I hope we read or see something that helps break this cycle.

  8. One thing I keep thinking about with this "lifestyle change" I'm supposed to have is that if this was a change I was capable of making and sticking to..then I really wouldn't have needed the lap band. My doctor wants me on a diet very close to the Atkins low carb diet, and I know that works because I lost 50lbs on it once. However, if I had been able to stick to it as a lifestyle, I would have lost more and kept it all off.

They keep saying the lap band is a tool...but it's only a physical tool, not an emotional one. I guess I was thinking the emotional part would kick in at some point..I'm just wondering where that point is, and where it kicked in for those further down this road...

Oh how I understand you.... I am having a hard time with the mental part of it. I thought it would kick in too...but i just cant seem to change my habits...if you have found anything that works I am all ears.

  9. I think it is great what you are all doing.

    Here is a helpful link:

    http://www.aa.org/en...illustrated.pdf

I too have had experience with the first 4 steps. Those were the only ones that I completed - and that was like 20 years ago.

Good Luck - it is not an easy journey. It was always emotionally draining to me.

Step 4 was familiar to me, but I couldn't remember it - so I went in search of.

I found a website that offers the actual worksheets with instructional pages. This was pretty good - I almost forgot that I was posting here....lol. tongue.gif

12Step.org for Sobriety, Strength and Serenity - Tools

Enjoy - I hope this help for some of you. Good luck!

Hey I tried clicking on your link and it is not coming up...maybe it is an old link??? but you did inspire me to look for this..thank you!

  10. Thank u for posting this and thank u to everyone who is responding.

I recently sprained my ankle and due to previous problems it is extremely inflamed and I go to the specialist tomorrow. I hope I am able to take something as well.

And I have to say I understand wanting to eat everything in sight. I am feeling very depressed as well and my food choices have not been the best. I hope we can help each other get through this little bump in the road. Best of luck to u on ur journey.

  11. I was banded on 2/3/12 and since then, haven't loss anything! The little I have lost has been my doing (calorie counting, dieting, exercising) but no thanks to the band. I thought it is suppose to restrict your eating. Is it because I need to be filled more?

I have an 11cc band and so far theres 4.5cc in t

here. What is feeling restricted suppose to feel like? When is this weight going to start coming off.. I'm so disappointed! I just dont see a difference. Anyone else in a similar boat or was in a similar situation?

I hear you loud and clear....after my band I lost weight due to liquids and slashing the calories, fat and sugar out of my diet, the min i started eating "solids" I was at a stand still... had my first fill 4 weeks ago and was still at a stand still....many docs fill slowly, I just spoke with my doc today he said it is perfectly normal to not feel much a difference until 7-8 cc's maybe your doc can add more next time your in there. I went from 3 cc's after surgery to 6 my first visit and now I am at 6.5 cc's they said they do it a little quicker than most docs in the beginning because they didnt want me to get discouraged... I hope this helps you a little. take care. It will get better give it time. you will get a fill and go oh wow yep I feel the difference.... that when you know u r going to start losing a little more then you are now.

  12. I LOVED ur post!! Although I still have the forbbiden food syndrome after surgery... It's not as bad as it was. And I know the consiquences r coming. I have cut out about 80 percent of breads, all Pasta and rice, and I have cut out about 75percent of sugar. I guess the key is just to figure out how to cut out the rest. My doc has me on a no more than 5 gram sugar, 5 gram fat diet. I look at packages and wonder what can I eat? It is driving me nuts and they want me to carry it for a year.

Thank u for the inspiration and I can't wait for my next fill on the 19th.

  13. I am not sure why but this is completely normal. I had the same thing happen. I even had a fill at 4 weeks and I am still not losing and I am also at 7 weeks out. I am very frustrated and depressed about it. I have talked with one of my friends and she says it's normal also; she went through it as well. I am waiting for my fill on the 19th to see if this lull changes.

I hope it changes for u!! I know that feeling of I'm Doug everything right wth!!! I know we will get through this every banded person does... Maybe it's just our bodies getting used to what we r giving it.

  14. I was banded on January 30th. I have lost close to 40 lbs and was feeling great ... Until Monday. I started feeling very bloated and hadn't had a bm since last Saturday. Monday night I got the chills and muscle aches and thought I caught the flu. Long story short' date=' the pains increased and I was sweating profusely. I called my surgeon and met with him this morning. He ordered an emergency cat scan and they found air bubbles in my chest cavity. Do not pass go, do not collect 200.00. Go directly to hospital room. Here I am in my hospital bed awaiting surgery for tomorrow morning where according to my surgeon the band will most likely be removed. Needless to say, I am bummed. I will post follow ups tomorrow.[/quote']

Oh no, I have never heard if this before... I am so sorry... I hope everything goes ok and they can leave band in place.

  15. If I were you' date=' make sure you do liquids the first 2 days and mushies on day 3, then start regular food on the 4th day. I have had Fluid taken out 2 times where my band was filled less than I am now. But I know it is because I started eating reg food right away, more than likely I was swollen from the fill. Good luck. I have a size 10 band too and I am filled to 6.85. I still fee like I need a little bit more, can't wait for my appt in 2 weeks.[/quote']

I want to ty for ur post.... I am doing my best to do the diet the way I am suppose to and get the inflammation down... I really don't like how it always feels like there is something stuck, even though I can feel Water pass right through slowly. I am also on my cycle which I have been told can also add more swelling. I hope in a week or two this feels more comfortable.

  16. Welcome to "Bandster Hell". You will have to "diet" during this stage. If your doc is one who does many tiny fills' date=' this may last a long time. If s/he does a couple of larger fills, you will find the green zone quick and the weight just may melt off pretty quick. Hang in there. You are still well on your way to skinnyville![/quote']

I want to thank you for ur post... I was banded feb 24th I had 3cc left in there after surgery, so I never went through what most consider Band hell....I went for my first fill march 22nd and he put a total of 6cc in there. I was so scared because although I love and trust my doc it seemed like 6cc is to much! After reading ur post it seems like my doc has a rhym and reason.

  17. i just had a look. as far as the calories are concerned its not too bad. im a red wine drinker, its going to hurt me to have to give up my red wine. i do like a drink to relax especially when out. what alcohol has the least calories? does anyone know?? perhaps i could have the odd drink of something other than red wine. it seems that the red wine has given me more problems with my blood pressure and it certainly has contributed to my weight gain, thats for sure. i just dont think its entirely realistic to go without having an alcoholic drink socially. what do others think?

I completely agree with you, I have had a hard time giving up my adult beverages. I just dont know the best way to go about picking one...even if you get less calories, the carbs, sugar is my main concern.
