  1. well shoot, I guess pickle juice can work as a slider food. (making chicken salad.

  2. NSV: Trying on underwear you used to wear before surgery now fit's over your tummy instead of under. HA

  3. Went to pizza buffet today, I didn't worry too much about temptation as they are notorious known not to have the pizza ready (11-2) my lunch is 11-12. Well wouldn't you know today the pizza was ready, 15 hot steaming pizza tenderly sliced, ready for consumption. I got my salad, ate that first. I ended up getting two pieces, although I did walk through and smell them. Ate one, took the toppings off the second one.

You know it's kind of funny but I absolutely hate pizza now. I laugh because prior to surgery, I absolutely loved it. Now, it tastes nasty, has a gross mouth feel, and lays like a rock in my stomach. I just won't eat it anymore. I also used to love wraps and I hate them now. Come to think of it, I really hate most foods that I liked before surgery.

  5. Last night went to dinner with family.  My sister texted me later, hey sis your make up looked really good tonight. I said Wow , thanks I'm not wearing any.

  6. From Combo to ala carte, my how meals have changed. Hubby and I would both get combo meals, and be able to finish them and that's after finishing off a basket of chips and salsa! These days we get ala carte or even share a combo. And I'm trying to be more conscious of the small bites. And trying to eat a little something in between. That is harder as I have always tried not to snack in between meals, but lately by the time it was time to eat, I'm not taking the time to chew and then it all goes down hill from there.  Still working on it and feeling the body changing YES!

  7. NSV: yesterday a business man came into to see one of the bosses. He gave me a candy bar first and then the paperwork. I said I would be sure to give to supervisor. he says no candy is for you. I said its ok, he was , NO ITS FOR YOU. I said thank you , that I had had weight surgery so I tend to stay away from candy. He looked at me up and down and said you don't need surgery (probably didn't understand what I had said).  It's nice knowing that I look fit enough to where I would not need one, lol. Working out 25 out of 31 days definitely helps!

  12. NSV!!! my fitbit charging so I put on older watch I got, OMG It's hanging off my wrist like a bracelet. I showed hubby. He says everyone is always telling you , you lost weight and you keep saying no. Now you got prove !!!:591_watch:

  13. All 'm going to say, is when we go into any kind of surgery, we are aware of  risks and told of risks.  I really don't want to turn my email notifications off, but all I've been getting are bickering posts about the "supposed or verified deaths of patients".

Don't think about negativity it will only bring you down. Lift your spirits up.

  14. Been feeling "hefty" lately. Haven't worked out since pneumonia last October. Been thinking about going back. Trying to walk more, work out my arms, just in my daily routine. Even though I feel like jabba the hut, I guess I don't look it. Had someone who sees me once a week, say you're looking good, you've kept your weight off.  I'll take that as an NSV!!;)

It's hard to get back in to working out after an illness or injury. I've had an injury and feeling the same, but good for you, all seems well despite the lack of intentional exercise.

  16. It probably wasn't the best choice of words, when I asked a co-worker to make copies for me, she asked is it hard? she's been here a year and a 1/2 and most of that on her cell phone texting. I said," yes a monkey can do it..."

  18. Don't be afraid to take a big step if one is indicated. You can't cross a chasm in two small jumps. Sometimes we have to move out of our comfort zones, we tend to settle avoid the riffs, stay out of the radar, but thas' just getting by, not real life sometimes.

I share it because if I had questions there are plenty of people out there wanting the information but afraid to ask. In some places there is still a stigma about these surgeries.

Thank you so much for the response! Lol alien movie. I think I want to share only because I have sooo many friends/acquaintances in the 20-28 age range that are really struggling. Just the thought that I could help, even if they don't take my advice for another 10 years, kinda feels good ^.^

If we were in person I'd do the sound effects too! You'll know who to tell. I know I would tell a co-worker, be healthy eat healthy because when you get to my age... (different co worker but still a candy eater) but I think I OVERdid it , because one day I caught a face, so I have never said it to her again. I tell my daughter , and my daughter is now a gym rat working on herself. :251_crocodile: All we can do is pass along our experiences.

  22. I think it has finally sunk in, (after 5 years) to my co-workers that no I don't want to partake in your pastry gluttony every other morning. I don't want to join in your Starbucks morning (or afternoon) break runs to nearby store.  That while you eat your ice creams I am fine with a cup of jello /banana or my cashews/almonds/or chickpeas/raisins. That all I see (and I've told them) is a pile a sugar.  That while they "lumber" down the hallway, I walk down the hallway, rubbing my stomach up and down, making sure it's still gone.  Maybe I'm being harsh, but there is no better example of what I could have been had I not gotten the lap band.  It's become almost awkward, because there are 3 of us and at one time we were all on the heavy side. Now there are just 2 and one of us is in size 12 pants not size 20. !

I can't really comment on the co-worker situation, but I definitely know the feeling of looking at almost everything and thinking "sugar" (even if it's not). Luckily it's gotten to be a habit so I'm not really tempted by anything. That said, I'm very accommodating to my co-workers/friends and they to me: if we go to Starbucks I just get a mint tea, and they don't comment at all when we are out at other places and I avoid the rice, noodles, and other breaded items that are so common here in Japan. It's a nice balance. However, we rarely go out so this isn't much of an issue.

  23. I watch my 600 lb story, all the time, family hates it. But I feel a kindred-ness  to some of the people and their struggles.  Although I was never at that weight. Even though some are as tall as me 5'1,

Recently I was watching the show and my daughter, rolled her eyes and said Mom do you feel that big and I said sometimes. She said Mom that's sad, do you know how many of those people would love to be the size you are now? (onederland). Honestly I never thought about it that way. But I can say that's its made me more grateful for the weight I have gotten to !!! ;-)

      CurvyCakes

Both my daughters say that to me all the time. "Mom really do you see yourself that big??? Mommmm you're not it's all in your head" I hear them and while no I may not be 600lbs I am very big in my mind I don't see what the scales says.

    2. #MagicWithinme

      #MagicWithinme

CurvyCakes, when they say its all in your head, I said exactly !!!! Even when I look in the mirror all I have to compare myself to IS the Big me... my hubby hid the scales years ago, everytime I would eat and poop I'd check the scales. And freak when I gained acouple ounces. It kind of became a joke, "ahh just go poop you'll be fine." its something we have to work on,

  24. Menopause hit, after I had pneumonia in October and took some heavy rounds of antibiotics, it took my resistance to ZERO. I was off of work, for 3 months. no working out and now just back to work. Going from 6 days a week working out to none, has been hard, every day I think is today the day I'm going to the gym and by midday I'm already dragging. Trying to take vitamins and eat healthy. As the dr. said this is temporary , since I never had issues before.  But hey I lost 25 lbs.

  25. Grrr, I can't stand that they allow this new person to be on her cell phone all the time, I have to keep my back to her, otherwise it will piss me off
