Joiebean got a reaction from JROD in Pain On My Left Side
I went through this about the second week. Turned out to be the muscle that they cut through and stitched was just really sore. It didn't start hurting until I started moving around (the second week) and using that muscle more. I started walking on the treadmill and OH SURPRISE it got worse. My doc told me to stop walking, except what I need to to get to places and around the house and coincidentally I had to stop talking pain killers for another reason, but between those two, poof, the pain went away. But if it really hurting you, it can't hurt to follow up with the doc. I was a bit of a hypocondriac after surgery and called my surgeon A LOT....so if you are worried about that...don't be. They want you to follow up with them if anything seems wrong. Since we haven't been through this before, we can't really judge what's normal and what's not. That's what the doc is there for. Hope it gets better.

It will get better everyone. There is a really common occurance called Water nausau (I always spell that wrong.) But if you put a little juice or crystal light in it, that will help it go down better. Also string cheese and greek yogurt is awesome for mushy food that is satisfying. But that will depend on your lactose tolerance. I have also used lactaid a lot because it is just easier on my stomach than regular milk. If you like indian food, you can also try the tandoori freezer meals (just stay away from the rice part.) They have vegetarian paneer tikka masala that uses tofu instead of chicken and its a spinach mushy consistancy (like a lot of indian food). I've found dense meats can be hard on the stomach. If you do try meat, go for dark meat cause its easier to get down. Also mashed up avacado and small pieces of lightly cooked shrimp soaked in lime juice work really well with a mushy diet and taste great. These are just some tips that worked really well for me. I hope maybe they will help you too. OH and one other thing a book i have says, which is totally true for me, is to drink something warm in the morning cause it will help gentle waken your stomach and prep it for liquids and food. I usually either have some Decaf coffee or warm instant cream of wheat using light soymilk and sugar free Syrup.< /p>

Joiebean got a reaction from jessica0728 in 7 Months Post-Op: Gall Bladder Removal
Well, for awhile meat made me nauseous and I didn't realize that what I had originally was an attack; i.e. I was out one night, had been to a comedy show and drinking and then...as you do...I ate a slider at a bar and immediately ran outside and threw it up. I've had three other attacks similar to that, occuring more frequently, until I realized it was any kind of fat, oil, etc that was making me get sick. And i started getting this pain in my side. Sorta a cross between a burning and stabbing pain under my ribcage. So I went to the PCP and she did an ultrasound and it was very clear that I had stones. She recommended I have I have it out and see my surgeon asap. She forwarded him the ultrasound and he said the same thing and wanted it out this week. So....at least I have a good healthcare team in place.

I just started eating these for lunch (which I used to pre-surgery and they never filled me up...now it takes all i can do to get a whole one down...which I L.O.V.E.!!) But this one is so freakin good its like a religious experience, lol. Chili Lime Chicken....and the nutrition is decent. 17g of Protein, 240 calories, 770 potassium, 550 for sodium. It does have 37 carbs (or something around there) but WOW....its awesome!! Just had to share the news

I appreciate your comments twoboysandagirl. I agree with you. That's why I'm trying everything I can to be happy. Thank you for saying its normal to fall out of like with our spouses. I actually makes me feel more normal. And I definitely don't want to throw in the towel. We work really hard to make it a good marriage. Its just not that exciting. But then....is it always supposed to be? probably not.
I think we rushed into getting married too. Got engaged when we were both still infautated with each other and then by the time the wedding came around, I think neither of us wanted to conceed that we rushed into it. But we are compatiable and I do love him.
Oh and regarding my job....(and I know this will sound like a jab) but I do make more than him. Not a ton more, but enough, and am more advanced in my career, with a higher degree.

Joiebean got a reaction from kiki19 in Do You Really Feel Full?
Yup, what thinoneday descibed is almost spot on. If you eat too much you get that thanksgiving bloated feeling and want to puke. I tend to get flushed and get a small fever too. Go figure.
But to answer your question, I don't get the 'full' feeling you have pre-surgery. Now I get a full feeling like my stomach has enough in it and I don't need anymore. And you learn this new feeling rather quickly....but its a good feeling. I find that its far better then the old full feeling. I know this is vague, but I hope it helps. I actually really prefer eating small amounts just to keep my energy going and never actually getting the full feeling. It seems like its just easier to move around and stay active.

Trust me, it will pass. I'm 2 1/2 months out and when I was 3 weeks out, I felt the same way. Don't know about 3 weeks, but maybe in the next few weeks, if you like sushi, try getting just the sashimi (tuna and salmon) without rice. It is SOOO easy on the stomach, is packed with Protein and tastes awesome. And it is pretty soft and mushy. And the ginger with it really helps with digestion. But you will get passed it. However, its not that you will go back to what you used to eat (some do, but...) you'll just become accustomed to what works well with your new stomach and what doesn't. For example, I can't eat fried food anymore. It immediately turns my stomach and I get sick. So i just don't eat it. And I choose fish over anything else because my new sleeve LOVES fish....something that I liked before, but wasn't head over heels about like I am now. So while I say it gets easier, its more that you will become more comfortable with what your sleeve likes and dislikes and you will just start to gravitate towards those foods. I hope this helps

Yeah, I think the problem is in your surgeon's expectations. How do you feel? Do you feel healthier? Do you have more energy? Have your eating habits improved? Are your blood tests coming back with positive results?? I think those are the things to look at. My surgeon is a BIG proponent of NOT looking at the scale for results, but rather your overall health.
Here's a little story my boss was telling me the other day and I think its pretty profound, in a very simple way. So you think you have 'only' lost 45 lbs right? Here's a little reality check that will be sure to help you realize how much that actually is. Next time you go to the gym, stack 45 lbs of weights on the floor. Now pick them up, carry them across the room and back. Now, put the weights down and walk across the room and back without them. Take notice of how much easier it is. THAT is what you have taken off your bones, your heart, and everything on your body. THAT is a HUGE DEAL girly!! YOU have done that with your own will power and strength. Try not to minimize it. You have done SUCH good for your body, regardless of what your surgeon says. Keep at it and more will come when your body is ready to lose it.

Joiebean got a reaction from mnbsleeve in So Much Energy!
I was so exhausted last week from work, that I thought I was going to be totally out of commission last weekend, but after a relaxing evening at home on Friday and a goodnight sleep, I was SOOO unbelievably energetic this weekend!! Its been such a long time since I've had this much energy. The past couple weekends have been like this too.
On Saturday I did a ton of stuff around the house and at around 3pm I decided to redo our foyer floor, kind of on a whim, because we kept talking about doing it. By 4 I had the carpet ripped up and the slate tile underneath it ripped out, then went to lowes, picked out new tile and the guy there taught us how to do it, went home and got half of it installed by the time I went to bed. Then just out of sheer excitement, got up at 7:30 on Sunday and went right to work and had it finished by 9am.
Then we completely cleaned the house and then, because of the great weather, detailed the cars. After that was done, we got cleaned up and went to a comedy show in town (where I ended up drinking wayyyy to much wine.) But still was able to get up, come to work and be productive. Gotta love the new energy!!! I was SUCH a slug before. My husband is sooooo happy with how much more energy I have...I'm actually pushing him to do more rather than the other way around. He kept asking me this weekend "How do you still have energy??" cause he was beat!!
    CRAZY I TELL YOU!!! CRAZY!!
Anyone else notice a surge in energy levels??
