CAsleeve got a reaction from ShouldBlittler in How Is Everyone So Happy?
I haven't read the other responses, but....here is mine. I'd like to commend you on your honestly. My response back to you is also honest so don't be offended with what I say. I say it with complete love and respect and a little kick in the pants!
I had a hard time with Vitamins also. Find what works for you. I found adult Gummy multi-vitamins at Target. They are like eating a gummy bear. I couldn't keep any other Vitamins down, but these I can and kinda enjoy them.
It will get better. First of all, the power of positive thinking is POWERFUL! I mean really think and approach everything in a positive manner.
Meditate, do some deep breathing. Find your inner strength. It is there! Everyone has it, you just have to bring it out and nurture it.
Mix chocolate Protein powder with some chocolate soy milk or regular chocolate milk and add some banana or instant coffee or Peanut Butter. Put it in a blender and make a smoothy. What?, you don't like milk shakes or smoothies? If it takes making a shake or smoothy to get your Protein in, DO IT! Or mix vanilla Protein Powder with strawberries, bananas, chocolate, Peanut Butter, mangos, pineapple, whatever works for you. No excuses!
You made the decision to get the surgery, then make the best of it, 'cause there is no going back! Your body will change, your tolerance and taste will change, evolve with your new stomach.
Stop feeling sorry for yourself. You have the power. So what if your family is eating and continues to eat after you are done...so freaking what!? ENJOY YOUR FAMILY/FRIENDS - you don't have to enjoy your family while feeding your face. Socialize and talk during this time rather than eating. Get out and take a walk. Life doesn't have to evolve around food. If you choose to be unhappy because you can't gorge yourself anymore...that is your choice. You had the surgery because you could not control your weight and continue on the path you were on. Well you now have the tool - the sleeve - to take control of your weight and your life. Don't let it be yet another excuse to bring you down.
Eat food that is clean - don't eat sugar or white flour or processed foods. Eat a clean healthy plant based diet! It will make you feel awesome and it will give you strength. Processed food, sugar and white flour are things the body does not need at all.
Watch these movies: Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead and Forks Over Knives. You will learn something!
Snap out of it. Be happy! Make yourself be happy. If you can't be happy and you are clinically depressed GET HELP! Contact your doctor, see a clinician, see a psychiatrist/psycologist, get help for the depression. Whatever it is you need, search it out. Asking for help is a sign of intelligence and strength and is commendable.
Get off your butt and exercise...get the endorphins pumping. FIND SOMETHING THAT MAKES YOU JOYFUL - it becomes contagious.
Pray
Meditate
Do Yoga
Volunteer and help out others in need.
Give of yourself.
There are sooooo many options and good things you can do to contribute and help others. It will help you to feel good about yourself.
Do something proactive and positive.

CAsleeve got a reaction from Heyher in Losing My Comfort....
Well, being morbidly obese and a smoker is a double health risk whammy!
You can do it! I wish you the best in your challenges.
I was a former smoker and now a vigilante against smoking. Just a whiff of cigarettes or cigarette smoke makes me want to hurl.
You are on your way to more beautiful skin, cleaner lungs, enhanced taste buds, no more smelly, nasty gross clothing and breath, and a longer healthier life. Congratulations!
One Love.

CAsleeve got a reaction from RawrrAshleex3 in No Where Else To Turn
OK, snap out of it!!! Marijuana is medicine. Think of it that way. I'm all for herb, but only if you are in the right space and use it in a positive way. It doesn't sound as if you are. Just stop. Breathe, go for a walk, meditate, bring positive thought in to you being and the space around you. Don't let your husband enable any sort of negativity. Only YOU have the power to change YOU. Only you have the power to change your body. You made the positive decision to get sleeved and change your life for the better. Make it happen in every respect. I recommend the following three movies to everyone to get a better perspective on nutrition and diet - you, no one, needs processed foods and the crap that contributes to depression and malaise. Watch these three movies if you need a grasp on good nutrition: "Forks Over Knives", "The Weight of the Nation", and "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead"
Watch these movies. You can find them on Netflix, iTunes, etc..
Only use herb if you are in a good space - dang, so you can enjoy it. Herb is a positive...don't let it be anything other. If it is, just stop it! More than anything....cut out the crap. That is what it is CRAP! Don't counter all the good you are doing by putting crap in your body.
One Love.

CAsleeve got a reaction from blondeej in Loose Skin Post-Op ~ Pre-Op Stretch Marks Correlated With Potential Loose Skin?
Well, I've also been very athletic and worked out 4-5 days a week prior to being sleeved. I've now lost 54lbs (well, 61lbs including pre-op weight loss) and I have definitely noticed sagging skin! This is why I now workout 6-7 days a week and mix it up with spinning, boot camp type classes, barre method classes, yoga, and walking/hiking, and soon I plan to start jogging again. I've also noticed stretch marks (I think they show more as you loose weight). Anyway, I'm just hoping everything tightens up with persistence and doing something everyday. I'm going to loose ~60 more lbs and I'd rather have stretch marks and some loose skin than not loose the weight.
Have to say, I feel great!!! I need to post some pics some time soon.

CAsleeve got a reaction from Vsglass in I Got Into My Jeans!
Good for you! It is really amazing how fast you 'grow' out of your clothes. I've given away 10 garbage bags full of my morbidly obese clothes and have a very limited wardrobe right now. But.., that is a-ok with me! I'm no longer morbidly obese and soon to be not be obese at all!! I no longer shop in the Plus Size clothing department. It is such a great great thing! I put everything in the dryer now where I would have cringed before if my cloths were put in the dryer.
Congratulations on your successes!

CAsleeve got a reaction from Joni in Need Protein Help
Oh, also, I would get a teaspoon of hummus periodically throughout the day...a little Protein boost and it satisfied the want for something savory (rather than a sweet shake).
-
CAsleeve got a reaction from Joni in Need Protein Help
It will get better. To get enough Protein in, I would add a scoop or two of Beneprotein (purchased on-line or some Walgreens have it) and a little soy mild to my Premier chocolate Protein Shakes (purchased at Costco). I also added Beneprotein to Soups (smooth soups), but Beneprotein will curdle if it gets too hot so you have to let your Soup cool a bit then add it.
I also went to the asian market and got the super super soft tofu (I think it is a fresh pudding-like tofu that comes with a little sweet ginger syrup). Heat that up and enjoy. I love this, but, I also really like tofu. I'm also lucky to live in the San Francisco Bay Area where there are lots of asian markets and it is possible to get fresh soft tofu.
I couldn't handle yogurt much.
Whatever you do, just eat/drink as much protein as you can. You can always do 2-4 ozs as often as possible throughout the day.
Anyway, that is my two cents.
Congrats! You are doing GREAT!

CAsleeve got a reaction from Vance_ in Chewable Vitamins!
So, I had a Vitamin issue. I could not for the life of me keep down the chewable vitamins or the chewable Calcium tabs. So, I switched to gummy vitamins (just the women's Gummy vitatmins from Target) and I swallow the big calcium pills. My doc told me not to do gummy Vitamins and not to swallow the big calcium pills, but my nutritionist said if that is the way i can keep them down, then go ahead. Better to get them in me than bring them back up each time. Gummy vitamins are just like eating a gummy bear - vitamin time is now treat time. :-)

CAsleeve got a reaction from buggie in When Should I Expect To Feel Human Again?
Make sure you are getting your fluids in and if you drink caffeine, maybe a little caffeine. Could help with the headaches. Oh, and get your Protein in first.
I started feeling normal...well better than normal at about 6 weeks. I still get nauseous as I think I can eat more than I can, but...in turn, i makes me nauseaous. I have to continuously remind myself that I can't eat more than 4 to 6 to 8 ozs at a time. It is just such a change - a wonderful change. I've got a long way to go, but I'm transforming!!
Keep in mind, you have undergone a major surgery and in your case two of them. Let your doc or nurse know your concerns.

CAsleeve got a reaction from amber1974 in Protein Is Such A Pain!
Hi! I'm 5 weeks out also. Op date was 1/17/12. So, I put Beneprotein in everything. I even add a scoop or two to the Premier Protein shakes that I get at costco, and to greek yogurt. I figure if I have one Premier Protein shake with two scoops of Beneprotien and 4-8oz of soy milk (I just think the shakes are a little too sweet, but they are good), that is 42-46g of Protein right there (I drink this in two different settings throughout the day. Then have one Chobani Greek Yogurt (and yes, I am having the ones with fruit in them) with one scoop of Beneprotein, that is 20g. Right there is 62-66g of protein. I have this just about every day. If I have a cup of Soup, I'll put Beneprotein in that also. My goal is to get at the very least 60g of protein in each day and any more is great. I'll usually also have 4-6 oz of some custard tofu - I get it from an asian market. It is like super silken tofu, 100% tofu/soy Beans. I heat that up and pour a ginger Syrup over it. That is additional protein.
I might have to give the Syntrex nectar products a try. Thanks.
