I had some bad turkey neck a year after surgery, but 3 years later it is pretty good. I think time and my dance class helped! We do chest lifts that work your neck, and it really helped tone up what could be toned!

No I would never have been able to do this on willpower alone. I tried for 25 years, just yo yo . With the sleeve and willpower I have been able to do it. I am excited about the future because I do not feel like a victim any longer. I wish I did it 10 years ago!

The thing to remember is that drinking alcohol cause dehydration. Dehydration causes dizziness , nausea and severe legs cramps. Stay hydrated. Two of any drink is more than enough to have fun. Have a plan in place so you don't over drink. Wine is the most agreeable for me. Haven't watered it down. Alcohol seems way stronger after the sleeve.

    I'm 3+ years out.
Almost always make me ill or uncomfortable: Pasta, rice, flour tortillas.
Sometimes make me ill or uncomfortable: potatoes (any way) and bread - I include biscuits, waffles, pancakes, etc. here because even now I can only have a few bites of these foods before I'm too full.
And I simply cannot eat anything overly sweet. I scrape frosting off cake, avoid cheesecake if it's not plain and skip Syrup on my two or three bites of challah french toast.

So I am 12 days post op and feeling pretty good. This morning I had my first small victory. I passed my most recent lowest weight. My weight has gone up and down a lot over the years with different diet failures, but in the past few years the lowest I had ever gotten was 233 while doing a physician weight loss with phentermine last year. This morning I weighed in at 231.8! It's just one of those things that lets me know this is really happening. I have been feeling like I will never lose the weight I want to lose because I have failed so many times. I am now feeling like maybe I can really do this. Gonna rock this sleeve!
BTW- My stats are- Highest weight-270, Starting weight- 250.2, Surgery day weight- 242.9, Current weight-231.8

I planned to go back 10 days (calendar days) after surgery. I am pretty hardy usually but the surgery, adjusting to eating, and need for afternoon naps made it too hard. I went back at 18 days and felt like that was soon enough. It was nice to take a little time to adjust to my new life with out a lot of onlookers. I have had very few if any bumps in the road. I am at 12 weeks.

I couldn't drink anything that wasn't hot without crushed ice for about 8 weeks. It just didn't seem right.

People can be so thoughtless to speak everything that crosses their mind. In their defense, some times it people losing weight do look sickly at times as their body adjusts. Once the body adjusts they look great. I would just chalk it up to poor manners and be proud of your accomplishment. Keep up the good work!

Dickens22 reacted to AtlantaRed in NUT had interesting info about why to chew, chew, chew
I am pre-sleeve and had my first NUT appointment last week. I know all docs and all NUTs are different in their info, but she said something in regards to why we need to chew, chew, chew that I haven't seen on the forums yet.
She explained that the large portion of the stomach that is removed is the part responsible for grinding the food that we swallow. Therefore, if we don't chew the food well before we swallow, it sits and has nothing to start grinding and that is why a lot of people either have significant pain when they swallow something too big or they throw it up.
I found that interesting and thought I would share. Again, no clue if it is true or not but it was something I had not seen mentioned before.

My friend lost a lot of weight and I said the same thing. Now he looks normal and great. Nothing changed, except I am used to seeing him at a normal weight.

I never thought I'd say this but these frozen dinners are great! I have been having the hardest time eating any meat except for hamburger, I am not quite 3 mos out and most real food eating experiences have been disappointing and have left me wishing I hadn't tried to eat. Soft things are great but beef, chicken, etc difficult. I tried tender cuts, moist cuts... Anyway tonight I had the Atkins Turkey dinner and it was wonderful . Low carbs, low fat and low calories. Just the right amount of Protein. Just thought I'd share for anyone else struggling.

As of this morning, I have

    1) lost over 150 pounds since I began this weight loss journey,
    2) lost over 50% of my "excess weight" (above my goal), and
    3) reached under 300 pounds for the first time in over 20 years (since my oldest child was conceived)! Yay me!!! Woo hoo!!!
