  1. Hi Louisiana Sleevers! I'm Beth and I just made the decision to go ahead with the sleeve. I went through the 6 months with the dietician for insurance purposes and I almost chickened out, but I'm ready now! I'm so excited about this change in my life. Although I'm struggling with "last meal" syndrome where I think every meal right now is my last one, I'm trying to combat the urges. I do have a question, how do your docs feel about sugar free snowballs? I just had one today and it was icy and sweet and cool going down. I imagine that it might work well (unless there are hidden calories and sugar that I am not aware of).

Hi there!! How are you doing on your progress?? I am 2 months post and have lost 30 pounds. Doing great! Just rejoined my gym but broke my toe, so I'm a lil ticked about that. Lol.

  2. HI! I didnt even get the notice that you responded back in April! lol Glitch probably. I love Dr. M. I am doing realllly well. So well in fact, that WL is going a little slower than average because I am able to consume more calories and I have had no adversions to any foods. I start the gym Monday and I know that the weight will start coming off a little quicker after that. I can answer any questions you have! Are you on Dr. M's FB?? How are you doing??

  3. Ha! I know what ya mean! It's nice though, not really craving food. I get hungry though. And I do feel like I need Protein. I was able to introduce some tuna in my diet a little early since I havent been having any problems. It was very nice. Told my husband to spring for the Albacore next time. Makes it like a gourmet meal. Haha. I start my workout videos on Monday or Tuesday. My doc said that the sooner you are eating like normal, the sooner you are able to workout like normal, so Im all for that. I am so glad you are doing well! Looks like you have lost an awesome amount so far!!

  4. Pre-op diet has kinda stunk. I find my metabolism to be low and its hard to go out with friends when they eat and u cant. But anything worth doin aint easy. One week and counting! (Lifts up his Protein shake) Here's to a healthier life!

I know what you mean about the diets. I am having a hard time with the post surgery diet right now....I would LOVE some meat...I have such grand Ideas about what will be my first meat product I will eat when I am given the go ahead. lol Daydreaming is a bittersweet thing. I am hanging in there tho. How are you doing??

  5. I thought we could have a new area to post our progress updates, so here's mine!! Hey Everyone! Hope yall are doing awesomely! I am just now getting on my computer to check things out. Surgery went awesome. The main thing I have to say I disliked was that long drain that had to be removed. No fun and that is where the worst of the pain is. I am following the post diet, but I have to say it might make me insane by my 2 week post op. My body wants meat meat meat and all I can give it is yogurt, pudding, grits, and strained Soups. -.- For those already sleeved, What is the diet after 2 weeks that your doc gave you? I think I can slowly start adding things in like eggs and soft stuff. I will rejoice when I get to have some eggs. lol I can follow a diet, but the no meat thing is hard for me to deal with. I am off to go walk, Happy belated Easter and yall have a good week!!

  6. Hello my fellow Louisiana Sleevers, Well I'm at my half way point three months down and three to go on the supervised diet. I have lost 15 pounds so far and feeling great about myself and my future. I'm shooting for my Drs office to file with the insurance company on June 2nd!!!! YAY

    Congratulations!!

  7. Hey everyone! Long time, no post.. Got my surgery date scheduled for April 2nd!! I am super excited about it. Was a little bummed it couldnt happen in March, but I have 2 reports to do, so it was a blessing in disguise! lol I will start the dreaded Liquid Protein diet on the 26th. I hope everyone is doing good!! Thanks for all the support while the insurance process was happening. It was a great thing to be able to have this forum.

  8. Hey everyone!! I am so glad to be able to post again finally. Had some surgery to remove some tumors and it has been a lil bumpy healing wise. Been crazy busy trying to catch up on school and doing family stuff. How is everyone doing?? I would love an update on yall's jouneys so far. I have been approved!! I also have a surgery date of April 2nd, so I am verrrry excited to say the least. It has been a nervous journey with the insurance, but it was all for nothing...I was approved in only 2 days!!! All I can say is that I was blessed with some great reviewers! Must've been all that love since it was so close to Valentine's Day. lol I am going to be busy some more with a couple of reports to get done before surgery, but I look forward to hearing from everybody. I will be starting the yucky Protein diet soon....I'll need help to make it through that Im sure! lol

God Bless and Yall Take Care!!!

Nasty Protein diet and ALL! Let me know how you are doing!!

  11. Hey everybody! I havent posted in a while, I have been sick and have had a surgery. I am still recuperating from that, but in the process have gotten some of the best news!

I have been approved for my surgery and I am going to be sleeved on April 2nd! :)) I am super excited about this! My paperwork was submitted on the 8th of this month and was approved on the 10th! Super fast! I am still taking things easy and I have a ton of school to catch up on, but I hope to have the time to catch up with everyone soon! Hope all are doing awesomely and Congrats to those that are getting or are newly sleeved!!

  12. Just go to tickerfactory.com and create your ticker. Then you will copy and paste the message board result into your signature. You can do that by editing your profile.

Congrats on your sleeve!! I can not wait to see if I am approved. I too LOVE hearing all the success stories and the information is great!! Good Luck and keep us updated on your recovery. Id love to hear about it! :)

  13. How exciting! It's great to meet you! I am currently doing a month of the diet. I have some info from some previous weight loss places, so I was told those should work. Hope so! I am currently trying to get allll the evidence I can to support my need for the surgery. Just got diagnosed with fibromyalgia today. I am hoping to be sleeved in March. Cross my fingers!! :) I wish you the BEST of luck! How is your diet going so far?

  14. That is not bad! So I guess that one price I saw for self pay was inclusive. This is good to know, cause if the insurance does cover it, Ill be looking at less than 7 thou since they have to do contract prices. (which are always cheaper than what they would normally charge) It does make me feel better just in case I have to self pay. He doesnt offer BLISS, but I am wondering if I can get that on my own, maybe? I think if it comes down to me having to self pay, I might explore other doctors. It is very impatient of me, but I am already tapping my fingers with this NUT session. lol If I had the money, I would probably say screw it and pay for the surgery just so I wouldnt have to deal with the insurance company. If only....

You'll def have to keep me updated :) I hope you are doing awesomely!! I cant wait till I can join you!

  15. I am extremely nervous about not getting approved. I just posted an update on my blog about some time issues with my non medical WL proof. If you dont mind me asking, how much did you pay overall? I am thinking that if I get denied in both the initial decision and the appeals, then I'll just pay out of pocket, but i know it aint cheap! lol Dr. Merriman charges over 14 thou and I think that is just his portion, but I am not sure, Ill need to ask. If not then that might not be to bad if that is all inclusive to everything, including the hospital. Insurance only covers at 50 % with no cap anyway. I guess it all depends. All I know is that this ordeal is teaching me that I can be very impatient! lol I am so glad you are doing well!! Yeah, I never could get over the idea about the lap band being a foreign object. And the idea of my intestines being moved around wasnt appealing either, so the sleeve sounded perfect! Cheers to WL! :)

  16. Thx! I adore this site and love the idea of having a group for those that are close together. I saw that you just had your surgery. How are you doing?? I havent gotten approved yet, which I am nervous about, but I am planning on having the surgery sometime in the beginning of March. I am using Dr. Merriman here in shreveport and was curious who you used as your surgeon. I look forward to getting to know you! Good Luck!!! :)
